Chapter 1710: Leaving the Scorch Creek City!

That night, I appeared outside. There was a deep crater on the ground. Then, I felt the presence of wizards guarding the outside.

I left the place without alerting them. The wizards were clueless. It didn’t take long for me to return to the hotel.

Upon returning to the hotel, I met with the manager and staff before going to my room. I then brought Otto, Hank, and Patrick out from the Gregor Mansion.

The three of them appeared outside. Upon appearing, they started asking questions. They didn’t know what had happened.

“Master, what’s going on?”

“Where is the Evil Wizard?”

“Did he leave the place?”

Otto, Patrick, and Hank asked the questions. Otto then used his magic to listen to the conversations happening outside.

Patrick and Hank turned towards Master Vincent for answers. I asked them to sit down first. Then, I sat on the nearby sofa.

Patrick, Otto, and Hank sat down as well. I took a deep breath before I started telling them about the incident.

The trio continued to listen, but their expressions turned solemn. They didn’t expect so many things to happen.

A few minutes later, their expressions were grave. Patrick and Otto looked at each other. They knew the power of Magic Lords; they had seen their magic powers back in the Disordered Land.

For Hank, it was shocking news. He had not witnessed the power of a Magic Lord before. But this city now hosted the presence of a Magic Lord and Supreme Wizard Families.

A terrific fear gripped Hank’s heart. Patrick and Otto were Supreme Wizards, so they recovered their thoughts quickly. They didn’t let the matter shock them too much.

At this point, Otto had gathered some information from the people’s conversation outside.

He said, “Master Vincent, the Supreme Wizards have sent their wizards from the families to guard the city.”

“They are now protecting the direction from all four sides. It appears the Fire Magic Lord has given them orders,” he added.

Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I didn’t expect the Fire Magic Lord’s order to be followed seriously.

“Master, should we stay in the city?” Otto asked.

“I have told you before. I have a plan in mind to visit a special place. But that special place is not under the control of the Mage Union.”

“The place is located outside, in a different land. I need more details for preparation. Once enough information is collected, we can leave the city,” I said in a solemn tone.

Patrick, Otto, and Hank understood. They were experienced wizards. They knew the places located outside the Mage Union’s influence were basically lawless and dangerous.

So, they could understand why Master Vincent insisted on collecting more information. Then, they spoke about a few other things.

I told them to continue monitoring the situation before appearing inside the Gregor Mansion. I walked up to the Zero Puppet.

The Zero Puppet had lost its power due to the mana stones. It was now deactivated. My gaze then fell on the piles of books on the floor.

I noticed the dark root vine monster. It was now resting as well. The monster needed to preserve its energy. I shifted my gaze back to the puppet.

I wanted to know whether it had found anything or not. It would be best to leave the city as soon as possible.

Then, I took the super-grade mana stones out and placed them inside the core. The next second, the Zero Puppet became activated.

Buzz!

The Zero Puppet came back to life. Upon seeing me, the puppet greeted me.

“Master,” Zero Puppet uttered.

“Good. Did you find any information about the special land?” I asked.

Last time, the Zero Puppet had told me about the lack of information. I didn’t know whether it had found anything since then.

“Master, I still couldn’t find anything. The database is lacking,” Zero Puppet replied.

A hint of disappointment flashed in my eyes. I had thought it would have information. It appeared I needed to collect more books.

But the Evil Magic Lord incident had destroyed my plan.

Then, a good idea came to my mind. The Wizard Families might have book collections in their residences. However, it was a bit risky to find them under the current circumstances.

I started to feel that it was best to leave the city. I didn’t know what had happened to the Evil Magic Lord. He could come back again.

So, there was a risk in staying here. I made the decision.

The following day, we left the city by following other wandering wizards. The wizards from the Supreme Wizard families didn’t stop us.

The security was tight for those who were entering the city, but not for those who were leaving, because they were all vetted before.

Patrick, Hank, Otto, and I followed the group of wizards on the road. None of us spoke during the journey.

The incident with the Evil Magic Lord was still fresh in our minds. On the other hand, the wandering wizards were happily chatting during the journey.

It didn’t take long for us to come near the small river running behind the city. The river water was red in color. It matched the city name: Scorch Creek City.

A small group of wizards paused their journey and started observing the red river. We, however, continued our walk.

The trio didn’t have a clue about the next city, but I had already gotten information from the Zero Puppet.

Though the piles of books didn’t record information about the special land, they had information about the nearby forces, including the next city.

Suddenly, I felt someone looking at me secretly. I didn’t show any reaction on my face. Instead, I started observing the surroundings.

Then, my gaze fell on a middle-aged man among the wandering group. I was shocked internally. Who was this middle-aged man? He was not hiding at all.

I decided to observe for a few more minutes.
