Chapter 1716: Checking the list!

In the hotel room, I was watching the online news. I felt someone approaching the room. I thought it would be Hank, Patrick, and Otto.

Creak!

The next second, a knocking sound was heard. It continued to occur.

Seeing that, I raised my eyebrows. If it were those three, they would have already walked into the room.

So, I stood up and walked up to the door. Then I opened the door. I saw a middle-aged man in a suit standing outside.

When my gaze fell on the brown suit, my eyes glinted with understanding. He must be the manager.

“Who are you?” I asked.

The middle-aged man raised his eyebrows. He was following the order of the owner. It was not the first time he was doing this.

He took a deep breath before saying, “Guest, we need your information. We weren’t clear on your identity.”

Hearing that, I asked, “Why?”

“You didn’t ask for it before,” I added.

“Guest, your information was incomplete. We are doing this for everyone. The recent Sandfall City destruction has changed the situation here.”

“We need full information on the visitors,” the middle-aged man said in a righteous tone.

I heard his words. But I felt something was wrong. I didn’t know whether it was really about the Sandfall City destruction.

Then I thought of something and decided to use the system function. When I did that, the system results sounded in my mind. It said that the man in front of me was lying.

“The manager in front of me is lying,” I said to myself.

“Guest?” The manager called out.

Hearing that, I recovered my thoughts. I turned towards him. If I didn’t tell him now, he would do something else.

“I’m a wandering wizard. I don’t have a background. I go from place to place to survive,” I replied.

The manager smiled. He succeeded. Then he didn’t say anything else before leaving the place.

A sharp glint appeared in my eyes. I recalled Otto’s words from earlier. The city administration here was collecting information on the locals. Quite a number of people disappear every night.

Most of them were wandering wizards. They were following this process even before the Sandfall City destruction. So, I knew something was wrong.

Maybe I should expect some trouble coming up soon. As long as those three come up with the books, it should be fine.

Once the information about the special place was known, then I would leave the city. I didn’t have to confront the problems here.

Then I went back to the sofa and sat down. I waited for the others to come. But I did not stay idle. Instead, I started browsing the news.

That evening, Patrick, Hank, and Otto returned to the room. They had brought a huge collection of books.

After greeting me, they began to pile up the books on the floor. More than a hundred books were placed on the floor.

A few minutes later,

Otto, Hank, and Patrick started explaining what they went through. They were able to get these cheap copies for a couple hundred mana stones.

Otto then thought of something and said, “Master, the hotel manager was asking about our identity.”

Hearing that, I turned towards him.

“What did you guys say?” I asked.

“We told them we were wandering wizards. We don’t have any background,” Patrick said this time.

Hearing that, I sighed in relief. But I knew this was not the end. The city administration was planning something. We could become their targets.

Especially Patrick and Otto. They were Supreme Wizards. They could well become the target of the city administration.

I took a deep breath before speaking. Then I told them that the same thing had happened to me.

“What?” Hank uttered in surprise.

Patrick and Otto were shocked as well.

“It appears the city administration is planning something,” I said to them.

“I don’t think the city is safe. The City Lord here could be a Magic Lord,” I added.

The three of their faces changed drastically. Everywhere they went, there was some problem hiding. It was the same in this city.

“Don’t worry. If something occurs, then we will leave,” I said to them.

Then I told them to stand up and hold hands together. Hearing that, they understood what was going to happen next.

Then I brought the book collections inside the system space. After doing that, I brought the three of them inside the Gregor Mansion.

“We are here,” Hank uttered.

Patrick and Otto turned around and saw that they were in the middle of the hall. The dark root vine monster was asleep.

Seeing that, they were stunned because the mana coercion coming from the monster was stronger than before.

They almost forgot about the hidden powerhouse hiding here. As long as they didn’t come across the Magic Lord, they were completely safe.

“Okay, guys, rest here,” I said to them.

They nodded their heads and went to the different rooms. Then I brought the Zero Puppet to the control room.

Inside the control room, I placed the piles of books from the system space. After doing that, I placed the super-grade mana stones in the core.

Buzz!

The Zero Puppet came to life.

“Master,” the puppet greeted me.

I nodded to it before ordering what to do with the books. The Zero Puppet turned towards the piles of books on the ground.

It picked up one of the books and started doing the work. Seeing that, my eyebrows relaxed. Then I walked out and went to my bed room.

I had a feeling that something would happen soon.

Meanwhile,

The city administration guys went through the list again. They had got the information from several hotels and inns.

Many wandering wizards were staying there. This time, the City Lord had ordered them to capture Supreme Wizards as well.

For that, the elders had to step in. They quickly found the place where the Supreme Wizards were staying, including the Thornflower Hotel.
