Chapter 1766: Rebecca Ethan

That night, I left the house alone wearing the mask. I had told everyone about my purpose. They all wanted to come, but I rejected their request. I told Magic Lord Rock to watch over them.

After leaving the house, I headed towards the main gate. I didn’t know where Supervisor James stayed.

Just as I was getting closer to the place, the system alerted me. Someone was spying on the house. I paused my footsteps and traced where the source was coming from.

It was coming from the neighboring house, located a few hundred meters away. Old man Rock had told me that someone from the neighborhood tried to spy on their house earlier today.

Someone was doing the same thing at night again. I changed my direction and started going towards the neighboring property.

There was a vast open field. I was the only one walking on the road located in between. There were street lights, but I wasn’t worried about being exposed. If someone asked me, I would confront the person straight away.

Shortly afterwards, I reached the neighbor’s house. The house was similar in structure to mine.

Before I could get closer to the gate, I saw someone coming out of the house. It was a young woman similar to my age. Seeing her, I was taken aback; I was imagining something else.

The young woman had short black hair and black eyes. Her wizard strength was Level-9. Her skin tone was pale, and her height was 5.8ft. The young woman opened the gate and walked up to me.

“Hi, you are the masked neighbor who Supervisor James was talking about. It’s nice to meet you. My name is Rebecca Ethan,” the young woman said, introducing herself.

Hearing that, I was stunned.

“My name is Frank. It’s nice to meet you,” I gave a fake name to her.

“Why don’t you come inside? If you have any doubts about the neighborhood, I’ll tell you everything,” Rebecca said.

I weighed the options before agreeing to her. Then, I followed her into the house. The building was a similar design to mine. In the living room, I walked up to the sofa and sat down. Rebecca sat opposite me.

Her eyes were filled with curiosity because she could tell the skin and voice of the masked man were young. She thought we could be of a similar age.

I noticed that Rebecca was looking at me. I regretted not bringing Otto with me; otherwise, he would have collected information about her.

Then I asked, “So, what did Supervisor James say about me?”

Rebecca smiled and said, “He said that your house was bought by Manager Lara of the Silver Tower for you. It means you are close to her. Are you a relative of her?” she asked.

“You guess,” I replied.

Rebecca once again confirmed that the voice of the person was young, so she did not need to be formal when talking.

She said, “Since I told you that I’m going to clear your doubts, I will tell you about our neighborhood first.”

“The Crystal gated community is big. Each house is surrounded by a vast open field. Not all the community members are friendly. So, it’s best for you to avoid them in the future,” she added.

“Why is that?” I asked back.

Rebecca said, “The Crystal City is part of the Silver Tower. The forces here are naturally close to the Silver Tower. The forces here are allies of the Silver Tower. If you wrongly offend someone, then they could use the power of the Silver Tower to suppress you,” she added.

“I’m scared,” I uttered jokingly.

But she took it seriously. She said, “There is nothing wrong with being fearful. As long as you don’t cause trouble, you can live here peacefully.”

Hearing that, I smiled and asked back, “What about your family?”

“My family does business with the Silver Tower. Though it’s a small business, we were given a place to stay here,” she said with a smile.

Hearing that, I wanted to ask her about the business, but I didn’t ask in the end. I felt it would be rude.

Rebecca saw through my thoughts and said, “You must be wondering about the business. It’s simple. Both of my partners have healing-type magic. They work in the city hospital. Sometimes they work for the Silver Tower directly,” she added.

A look of understanding dawned on me. Then I checked her magic power with the system function. The next second, the status panel appeared in front of my eyes. She was a healer as well.

“Is this bloodline magic?” I thought.

I didn’t ask her. She was already revealing information without knowing anything about me. I thought of old man Rock.

I didn’t know whether they could cure Magic Lord Rock. I had met her only today, so I decided not to ask anything else.

Time passed by. Rebecca continued to talk about the city, including the different forces here. Everyone was an ally of the Silver Tower, but there is infighting among them.

She also told me about the magic towers. Some of the families had descendants who were part of other magic towers. She warned me not to offend them.

“Fortunately, you are connected to Manager Lara of the Silver Tower. So, no one will come to seek you out and cause problems. Because Manager Lara herself is a Magic Lord, you can ask for her help anytime,” she said.

“Well, Rebecca. Thanks for sharing the information with me. I truly needed it,” I said to her.

But I sighed in my heart. She did hide some information from me, especially the information on the Association.

It had been two hours already, so I decided to leave the place. I told her that I would come and visit her next time.

Rebecca was once more convinced that the masked man was a young man. She wanted to see the face behind the mask.

She watched him leaving the house. She then thought of something and said, “Frank, be careful of Supervisor James.”

Hearing that, I paused my footsteps. I turned around and looked at her. Rebecca’s expression was serious.

She said, “I didn’t know whether to tell you or not. Supervisor James is part of the Wizard Association. They are influential in the city. So, don’t offend him.”
