Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1771: Part 1: The event day

Chapter 1771: Part 1: The event day
From MC Perspective
The day before the shop’s opening
Everyone was gathered in the living area, chatting and laughing.
The arrangements were all made; everything was set and ready. The entire building was decorated with lights. Even the signboard outside was lit up. The shop name, “Frank’s Appraisal Shop,” glowed in the bright light.
The members were all looking forward to tomorrow’s event. They were all excited, including the two monsters, who were also eager for the big day.
I sat on the sofa, listening to everyone’s conversation, but my mind was set on something else.
I had made arrangements for the food and drinks, yet I didn’t know what was going to happen tomorrow. My utmost priority was to conceal my identity and make the event a success.
“Master, don’t worry. No one will cause problems tomorrow,” Old Man Rock said from the side.
He could tell I was worried. If tomorrow’s event was successful, they would finally have a place and an identity to stay here.
Hearing Old Man Rock’s words, the conversation stopped all of a sudden. The members realized their Master was thinking deeply about something, so they halted their fun.
“Master, if there is something on your mind, you can tell us,” Otto asked.
At that, I thought of something and warned the others. “Many important people will come tomorrow. They will try to find out my details.”
“Especially, they will be looking for a weakness. So, if anyone asks you anything, just tell them you guys are wandering wizards hired by me.”
The members were not stupid. They knew important people were coming, including both friends and enemies.
Seeing that everyone’s mood had dropped, I collected my thoughts and smiled.
“I’m just giving you a heads-up. Don’t think too much about it.”
“Phew!”
The members heaved a sigh of relief. It appeared their Master wasn’t being completely serious; he was just being cautious.
Time passed.
Late into the night, everyone returned to their rooms, and the monsters returned to the basement. I went to my room, shut the door, and lay down on the bed. I tried to rest, but I couldn’t get any sleep at all.
Buzz!
My phone rang. I picked up the device and saw who was calling: it was Manager Lara. I answered.
“Manager Lara, what is it?” I asked.
“I’m just calling to remind you. Try not to release your mana tomorrow.
Even a small trace of mana is enough for wizards to find a clue. If the senior wizards catch that mana, they will figure out the Sub-Taboo magic, and your identity will be exposed,” she said.
“Don’t worry, Manager. I will be careful,” I replied.
We spoke for a few minutes before ending the call. Fortunately, I have a System. Otherwise, it would be hard to find a method to conceal my strength. I put my device away and closed my eyes to sleep.
…
Outside
The guests had already started arriving during the night. They booked hotels in Crystal City, most having traveled specifically for the event. By this point, most locals knew there was a grand opening tomorrow.
They knew a new, influential wizard had bought a building inside the crystal community. The locals wanted to attend the function, but it was not possible.
Even the number of VIPs was high, most of whom were from Crystal City itself. Only a few were from outside the city, but their backgrounds were special. The authorities kept a close eye on them.
The next day, in the early morning, more guests arrived. Some were invited by Manager Lara, who was currently on her way with her friends.
On the other hand, Jason Nicholson, Wilfred Cox, and Susan Park left their houses. The three of them were coming with their family elders.
Since they had no direct interaction with Appraiser Frank (Vincent Carey) and only knew Manager Lara, a family elder was needed to make their presence valuable.
Otherwise, they would be treated merely as official members of the Silver Tower; here, they wanted to represent their families.
At the same time, Holden Barrett of the Barrett Family left his house with Butler Gideon. He was looking forward to the event, representing his family.
“What do you think about the event?” he asked.
Butler Gideon furrowed his eyebrows. He was surprised a formidable appraiser had come to the magic city.
He thought for a moment before saying, “This appraiser named Frank is a relative of Manager Lara. Everyone knows who is behind that woman. The two Forbidden Lords are on the same side. The appraiser is likely going to join their faction.”
Holden smiled. “We are from the neutral faction. The benefit of being neutral lies in business. We can deal with anyone.”
…
Crystal Community
Inside the shop, everyone got out of bed and started getting ready. I phoned Manager Lara and learned she was on her way.
I went to the office, the official shop room.
The room was filled with rows of shelves where I had arranged some of my loot. They were mainly broken magic artifacts I had gathered from remote regions and spoils from various cities.
I had confirmed with the System that no one could find the origin of these items. They were extremely old.
If the glass containers were opened, the “scent of ruins” would reach everyone. The lowest items in the containers started from Grade 7.
I hoped the guests would buy items for their descendants or for research purposes. Then I once again used the system to make sure everything was fine.
The room was spacious enough for more than ten people to walk around to observe the items. It’s like a wide gallery room.
I have made a decision to open a shop here because of this spacious room. After appreciating the room, I walked out. There are still a few hours left before the function starts.
I went to check the food arrangements. Everything was ready. It’s time for the guests to come.
Otto came to the hall. He then sees that the Master was not wearing a mask. He then reminded him.
Hearing that I immediately put a mask on my face. I thanked Otto for the reminder.
