Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1781: Part 2: First big customer

Chapter 1781: Part 2: First big customer
Shop
“Shop owner, I don’t know its exact worth. Can you reveal at least a small piece of information?” Logan asked directly.
Jonah was not displeased. He had learned from the members that there is actually an appraisal fee.
They won’t be charged if the antique is bought by the shop owner, Frank. Otherwise, they have to pay a considerable sum according to the worth of the antique item.
I smiled and said, “I will tell you. If you decide to sell it here, the appraisal fee is waived. But if you change your mind, then you have to pay the fee before leaving.”
“This?” Logan was stunned. He didn’t expect there to be such a rule.
Jonah spoke up this time, “That’s the rule here. There is no free lunch in the world.”
Hearing that, Logan understood. It was basically an appraisal shop.
“Alright, I’m willing to pay the appraisal fee,” Logan said with a smile.
I nodded to him and said, “The black circular disk is a shield-type Artifact from the old era. Specifically, the characters written on it belong to the old era.”
“It shows that the Artifact was used by a wizard,” I added.
I hid the information regarding the body-type wizard and body-type spell from them. This information was enough for them to know the worth of the Artifact.
Jonah and Logan were shocked to the core. They knew that a circular disk could be a magic item, but they didn’t expect it to be a shield-type one from the old era.
Not only that, they had received confirmation that it was a real artifact. It also came from the old era.
Logan didn’t know what to say. He thought that the shop owner, Frank, knew more information but wouldn’t tell them unless they sold the magic item to him.
Suddenly, Logan had the idea to retreat. Since he now knew the worth of the Artifact, he thought it was better to pay the appraisal fee. He could sell the item somewhere else for huge money.
He could put it up in the auction house run by the Dark Territory. There are people who would die to get their hands on an old-era Artifact.
Jonah glanced at his friend. He saw through his thoughts. He sighed inwardly because he had the same idea as well.
They could sell items somewhere else for greater money. He could make a commission as well.
Logan then said, “Shop owner Frank, thank you for your help. But I have decided not to sell the item today.”
“I will pay the appraisal fee for you,” he added.
He didn’t know the appraisal fee, but from the fee, he could judge the approximate worth of the item.
“Then pay me 1,000 top-grade mana stones,” I said to them.
“Top-grade mana stones?” Logan was stunned.
Most shops do transactions in mid-grade stones because top-grade stones are hard to find.
Fortunately, he had the habit of collecting top-grade mana stones as well. Jonah was not surprised. It showed that the value of the Artifact was high.
They could place it in an auction for a higher value.
Logan took a small storage pouch out and handed it to me. I accepted the pouch and checked it using the system.
The pouch had exactly 1,000 top-grade mana stones. Then I opened it again and checked them before their eyes.
“Good,” I uttered before summoning Hank.
Shortly afterward, Hank came to the room. I told him to give them the bill for the appraisal payment.
“It was a pleasure doing business with you,” I said to them.
Jonah and Logan said the same. They were happy now. Logan put away the Artifact in his bracelet.
Jonah thought of something and said, “Shop owner Frank, I want to give you a friendly reminder as a fellow Crystal City local.”
“There are wizard associations in other cities as well. They belong to different magic towers. I got news that some of them have learned about the shop here.”
“They might send people here to stir up trouble. So be careful,” he added.
Hearing that, I noted the information and thanked them. Then I watched them leave the office.
They left the shop and made their way toward the exit. But his warnings alerted me.
It’s a warning that this matter might be difficult to handle. If people from other Magic Towers appear, then I have to be cautious.
But it doesn’t mean they will get away with it. Maybe I could use this opportunity to target them. They had tried to attack me when I was staying at the Silver Tower.
I had always escaped from their traps and plans. If they have decided to come this time, then I should do something.
A quick gleam appeared in my eyes.
Time passed.
That night, the shop closed down at the exact time. The remaining customers left with disappointment. They could only stay in nearby hotels to come again in the morning.
While people were going out, a figure was moving discreetly toward the community. His presence was not felt by the customers.
The figure then got closer to the back side of the building. He couldn’t go through the front side or he would be exposed.
The figure knew there was a Magic Lord inside the building, so he couldn’t be direct. He had come here to perform a task.
The figure was a Magic Lord working in a wizard association connected to the Earth Elemental Tower. The Elemental Towers are rivals of the Silver Tower.
They had heard about the appraisal shop opening not long ago, but the shop was connected to the Silver Tower.
It had displeased people connected to the Elemental Towers, especially the wizard families who wanted to do business.
They couldn’t come here; otherwise, it would anger the Elemental Towers. But this situation wouldn’t last long.
If the shop gains a reputation, then other wizard families will be inclined to do business with the shop.
Because everyone belongs to the Mage Union in the end. A larger identity united everyone. If they identify themselves with the Magic Tower alone, they won’t be able to do business.
“It’s troublesome. How am I going to collect details without getting near the building?” the figure muttered.
The person couldn’t go back empty-handed. At the very least, he needed to collect some small intel.
The figure didn’t know that he had just committed a grave mistake.
