Chapter 1783: Part 2: Confrontation between the Magic Lords
House
The black-clothed figure made a decision. The next second, he left the place. Old man Rock sighed in relief. He didn’t know what the other person had thought, but he chose to leave.
Meanwhile, I was standing on the terrace and saw a black shadow fleeing from the spot. Seeing that he was gone, I heaved a sigh of relief.
“It was troublesome,” I thought.
We fended off the person this time. What about next time? I felt a headache coming on. I should prepare a plan to deal with the Magic Lords.
If it were Supreme Wizards, I could handle them, even if they were large in numbers. But the Magic Lords are different.
I need to find a way to deter them. Not only them, I should expect probes from the Forbidden Wizards as well.
They knew that the shop had connections with the Silver Tower. Yet, they sent someone here. There must be another Magic Tower behind it.
“What happened?”
“Did wizards fight?”
“Fighting is strictly forbidden!”
“No magic spell was detected. It appears it was a physical confrontation.”
One after another, wizards from the neighborhood appeared on the ground. They stood before old man Rock.
The people recognized old man Rock; his identity as a Magic Lord was not hidden. They were apprehensive; they didn’t know how to ask.
On the other hand, my gaze passed over them. I saw Rebecca and her parents as well. My gaze was found by others. I didn’t hide. I flew over to them the next second and landed in front of them.
Old man Rock’s eyebrows eased.
“Shop owner Frank!”
“Shop Owner!”
Everyone greeted me the next second. I nodded to them before saying, “A Magic Lord came here to probe us.
But he left after a confrontation with Magic Lord Rock. I don’t know the identity of the person, so I will inform the city authorities and the Silver Tower.”
Gasp!
A small exclamation occurred. The people’s eyes flickered with understanding. The experienced people had expected this, but they didn’t expect it to happen so soon. They were allies of the Silver Tower as well.
“Shop owner Frank, we are behind you.”
“It must be the work of outsiders,” an old man said. He was unwilling to say it was the work of other Magic Towers because he didn’t have evidence.
It was the same case with the others. Everyone knew it must be them, but unfortunately, no one could accuse them without evidence.
“Thank you for your kind words. But I will handle it,” I said to them.
After some talk, everyone left the place. Rebecca left with her parents as well. Only old man Rock and I were standing there.
Swoosh!
In the blink of an eye, Hank, Patrick, and Otto arrived. The two monsters were awake as well. They were all inside the building. I turned toward them and said, “Let’s get inside and talk.”
A few minutes later, we were sitting in the living room. Everyone’s expressions were solemn. Otto had heard everything; he had been awake since the first explosion.
He couldn’t believe someone came to attack them while he was asleep. He started feeling guilty. If he had been awake, he would have alerted the master and the others.
Patrick was thinking the same. As a former bandit, he knew these kinds of threats were normal. Hostile forces would send people to collect information. He should have been awake as well. It was like a wake-up call.
Hank was quiet as well. He didn’t know what to say. The attacker was a Magic Lord. If they had confronted him directly, the losses would have been on their side. The two monsters were quiet as well.
The old vine monster understood that a Magic Lord had come and felt its strength was lacking. The Sky Salamander had nothing to say; it was the weakest of them all.
Magic Lord Rock broke the silence by saying, “Master, I think the person came to collect information. He initially wanted to defeat me using brute force, but I broke his right hand instead.
He was shocked to find out that I was a body-type Magic Lord. Since the use of magic spells is forbidden here, he had no advantage against me. So, he left decisively.”
A look of realization dawned on me.
“Hmm, I had expected such a probe from others. But I wanted to know who was behind that Magic Lord,” I said. “Did you hear anything?” I asked Otto.
Otto shook his head and said, “I heard conversations from neighbors. Everyone thinks it’s the work of the Magic Towers. Especially, it could be the work of the Elemental Towers.”
Hearing that, I nodded my head. I, too, had the feeling that it was their work.
“Alright, I’ll do something about it. You guys don’t have to fear. Magic Lord Rock’s presence deterred them. We will face no trouble for at least a couple of days.”
The members sighed in relief. We spoke for about half an hour before going to our rooms.
Back in my room, I lay in bed. But I couldn’t close my eyes and rest. I was wracking my brain to come up with a solution. I had already thought of a couple of ideas.
First, I could use a powerful magic artifact to fend off these people. Second, I could subdue another Magic Lord like Rock. That would be difficult; I had never used the Red Scroll against a powerful Magic Lord.
Old man Rock’s case was different. His mana core was damaged, so the crimson curse bound it without any problem. I didn’t know what would happen against a healthy Magic Lord.
After contemplating, I decided to go with the second method. If there is any danger, the system will warn me. I made a decision to subdue another Magic Lord tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the news about the Magic Lord fight spread across the city.
The city authorities heard the news as well. They were shocked to the core. They didn’t expect someone to dare attack the residence of Shop Owner Frank.
More importantly, Frank’s identity was not ordinary, the Silver Tower stood behind him. They had to take this matter seriously and find the people responsible.
