Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1788: Cedric from the Tulip City

Chapter 1788: Cedric from the Tulip City
Magic City
Jason Nicholson, Wilfred Cox, and Susan Park gathered again. The news from the Silver Tower scared them; their faces turned pale with fright.
They couldn’t believe the news. They were now at the cafeteria run by the Cox family. On the terrace floor, they sat looking at each other’s faces in disbelief.
No one had spoken since their arrival. There was a deafening silence. Their faces might have looked calm, but their hearts were in turmoil.
They had treated Vincent Carey very badly. They were scared thinking about the consequences. It wasn’t just Vincent Carey’s breakthrough that frightened them.
Vincent Carey’s entry into the White Silver Faction scared them even more. It meant Vincent was not only an official member, but his position was cemented in the Silver Tower.
“We have made a mistake,” Jason Nicholson uttered.
“There is no going back. It’s better not to come across him,” Susan Park commented.
Hearing their words, Wilfred Cox’s eyes flashed with a glint.
“You guys are worried for nothing. He won’t have time to think about us. The news about him will soon be leaked to the public.”
“Both the Black Magic Tower and the Elemental Tower will target him for sure,” Wilfred Cox said in a calm tone.
Hearing that, the other two became quiet. They knew the threat surrounding Vincent Carey. That’s why they had abandoned his friendship.
“He is a Supreme Wizard now. We are not in the same league anymore. We must do better to catch up,” Jason said with a sigh.
“Are you not worried about his revenge?” Susan asked.
“Harumph!”
“Why would he target us?”
“We didn’t do anything to him. We are not without backgrounds. He won’t be foolish enough to offend us,” Jason replied.
“He has the support of both the Lords. They might support him,” Susan added.
“Our families have Ancestors as well. Both the Lords won’t support internal fighting. As long as we don’t bother him, he won’t remember us,” Wilfred Cox interjected.
The discussion helped them to ease their tension. Then, they changed the topic and started discussing other things.
…
Crystal City Shop
The shop is running as usual. I’m in the office room going through the reports. During the past few weeks, I have earned a considerable amount of money.
There are millions of mid-grade mana stones in my storage bracelet.
Buzz!
Just as I was thinking about my earnings, my device rang. I picked up the device and saw that Manager Lara was calling me.
I answered the call.
“Vincent, what are you doing right now?” Lara asked.
“Manager, I’m in the shop. Is there something up?” I asked her.
“Yes, the news about you becoming a member of the White Silver Faction was released. Now all the Silver Tower members know about this matter.”
“It will only be a matter of time before the Mage Union and other Magic Towers learn of it. So you need to be careful,” Lara said in a serious tone.
Hearing that, my gaze condensed. I knew this matter couldn’t be hidden, but I didn’t expect them to publish this news so soon.
I calmed my heart and replied, “Thanks, Manager Lara. I will be careful.”
We then spoke about a few other things before ending the call. I put away the device and fell into contemplation.
Now that I have become an official Faction member, I will be receiving actual missions soon. It’s been more than one month since the shop’s opening.
No one has caused trouble so far, except for that one incident that happened that night. So, I can start doing missions again.
But it won’t be wise to use a similar face mask. I have to go with either no mask or a new mask.
I touched my forehead. It’s going to be more hard work. But I think there will be some time before actually receiving a mission.
So, I pushed the thoughts aside and started paying attention to the customers. These days, customers from faraway cities have started coming.
My reputation has increased. Most of them know about the appraisal shop. At the same time, I have gained unwanted attention as well.
Over the past few days, I have been getting offers from the major auction houses. They wanted me to work for them.
Ironically, they knew of my connection to the Silver Tower. It shows that they are purposely making things difficult for me.
I’m sure the hostile forces are behind it, but I don’t know exactly which one was ordering them.
Creak!
Hank walked into the room.
“Master, someone from the Tulip City Auction House has come,” he said.
“Tulip City, huh,” I muttered.
It’s one of the major satellite cities under the Magic City. I turned towards Hank and told him to bring the guest in.
Then, I wore a face mask to cover my face.
Shortly afterwards,
A black-haired, middle-aged man with a lean physique walked into the room. He is a Supreme Wizard.
“Hi, I’m Cedric from the Tulip Auction House,” he said.
“I’m Frank. It’s nice to meet you.” I stood up and greeted the person.
“Please take a seat.” After saying that, I sat down.
Cedric sat opposite me.
I observed the middle-aged man. His eyes looked calm without much facial expression. I doubt he is here for a casual meeting.
“How can I help you?” I asked him.
Cedric smiled and took out a vial from his storage bracelet. He placed it on the table. The vial was not ordinary. It was filled with a black-colored liquid.
If one looked closely, they could see something squirming inside the black liquid.
“Someone sold this to our auction house anonymously. But our appraiser failed to identify the black liquid.”
“We had sought the help of other auction houses, but everyone failed to identify it. I heard Shop Owner Frank does appraisals for a special fee. So, I have come here,” Cedric said with a smile.
I heard his words, but I don’t know why I didn’t feel good about it. My instincts told me not to appraise the item. The auction houses are major forces as well.
If someone works as an appraiser there, then his status must be high. If even such a person failed, what good would it do if I gathered unwanted attention?
But I couldn’t say my thoughts out loud.
