Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1789: Silent tragedy

Chapter 1789: Silent tragedy
Shop
Cedric was looking at me with expectation. He wanted me to appraise the item. I decided to try, then lie to him.
I picked up the vial filled with a black liquid. Then, I used the system function to probe the vial.
[Ding! Extremely potent venom was detected.]
[Ding! Venom belongs to an outer space species.]
The system voice sounded in my mind. My heart set off storms the next second. I knew something was wrong with the black liquid.
The black liquid seemed to be squirming. To think it was from an outer space species. I didn’t know what to say. I calmed my racing heart, but I kept my facial expression calm.
Cedric was smiling. He was eager to know whether Shop Owner Frank would identify the item successfully.
At the same time, I came up with an excuse. Since I was feeling uneasy, it was best not to reveal the truth.
I took a deep breath before saying, “I apologize. I couldn’t recognize the item. I’m seeing such a black liquid for the first time.”
Hearing that, the smile on Cedric’s face vanished. He had been confident that Shop Owner Frank could identify the item.
He didn’t expect him to fail as well. Cedric didn’t know what to say, but he was visibly angry. He didn’t know whether the shop owner was telling the truth or not.
If he stayed here, he might have an outburst. He didn’t want to offend Shop Owner Frank for no reason, so he stood up abruptly and put the black vial into his storage bracelet.
“I appreciate your effort.” After saying that, Cedric left the room.
Not long after, Hank entered the room.
“Master, that person’s face did not look good. He left the place in frustration,” Hank said.
I leaned back in my seat and said, “Don’t worry about him. He won’t be coming here again.”
Hank didn’t know what to say. After speaking about a few other things, he left the room.
I leaned back and closed my eyes. I fell into a deep rest. The uneasy feeling from earlier was gone.
“Phew!” I breathed a sigh of relief.
I didn’t know the motive of that person, but it didn’t feel good. I hoped he wouldn’t cause problems for the shop.
The Following Day
While staying in the office as usual, I began to browse the online news. But the news headlines stunned me.
[A neighborhood in Tulip City was wiped out by a mysterious black poison. Officials from the Mage Union rushed to the scene.]
After reading the headlines, I immediately thought of the person from yesterday. I was right; there was something wrong with that black liquid.
I underestimated the undercurrents here. The turmoil here was no less than in the Magic City.
I shook my head before pushing down these thoughts.
…
Magic City
The major wizard forces were still discussing the Silver Tower. The Black Tower and the Elemental Tower were shaken up by the news again.
Specifically, the Black Tower had made Vincent Carey their main target. They had been looking for Vincent Carey everywhere.
Their search had slowed down when Vincent Carey left the city. Now that they heard about Vincent Carey again, they were shocked.
Not only had Vincent Carey become a Supreme Wizard, but he had joined the White Silver Faction in the Silver Tower.
The news was confirmed by their Elders in the Mage Union. The Elders of the Black Tower were most disappointed.
They knew their official members were trying to eliminate Vincent Carey, but they had failed in their task.
Now, these Elders knew the risks. They couldn’t target Vincent Carey like that anymore.
If they tried to harm Vincent Carey again, they would offend the White Silver Faction. It wasn’t the same anymore. So, the Elders of the Black Tower were divided.
Some supported the idea of targeting Vincent Carey again, while others wanted to drop the matter.
The Elders are the powerhouses of the Mage Union. The Magic Towers are under the Mage Union. If the higher-ups of the Mage Union learned about this matter, it would arouse their dissatisfaction. They did not come to a conclusion.
The matter was then known to the Forbidden Wizards and the Supreme Wizards of the Black Tower.
Specifically, the Black Tower’s Forbidden Wizard, Remi, learned the news. He was dumbfounded and grew angrier at the report.
He had been looking for Vincent Carey everywhere.
He didn’t expect that brat to become a Supreme Wizard this fast. He was also terrified by the news that the brat had joined the White Silver Faction.
He couldn’t target that brat anymore. If he did, their members would seek revenge. He knew the Forbidden Wizards Erwin and Charlotte were part of the White Silver Faction.
But how could he let this matter go? He had tried to kill the brat many times. If the brat grew stronger and became a Forbidden Wizard in the future, then the brat would definitely seek revenge.
His eyes flashed with killing intent. He knew the attitude of the higher-ups. The Elders would be divided after hearing the news. They couldn’t break the harmony among the Elders because they were part of the Mage Union.
But he had acted according to the orders of the higher-ups. The brat only remembered his face. Remi made up his mind to find that brat first and kill him.
He couldn’t afford to let him grow stronger. If the brat became a Magic Lord, it would become even more impossible.
He decided to postpone his missions. He was going to meet a couple of his friends regarding this matter.
Meanwhile,
The higher-ups of the Green Elemental Tower had the same discussion. The news about Vincent Carey was of particular concern to them.
They had shown open hostility by targeting Vincent Carey. Now that Vincent Carey had become a Supreme Wizard and a White Silver Faction member, he was one of the main people of the Silver Tower.
The Forbidden Wizards wouldn’t watch from the sidelines anymore. So, they had to make a decision now.
The Wizard Families under them had received the news as well. The Doyle Family was shocked. How could they forget Vincent Carey? They had been searching for him as well.
Vincent Carey had caused them to lose both their reputation and their wealth. Their standing in the Green Elemental Tower had gone down since that day in the Magic Arena.
