Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1806: Part 2: Time to collect intel

Chapter 1806: Part 2: Time to collect intel
Tulip City
A few hours later, the cab entered Tulip City. Patrick and Otto stepped out of the car and paid the fare to the driver.
They looked around the city before finding another local driver. The locals were unaware of their identity. The driver treated them like regular customers.
Patrick and Otto initiated small talk with the driver.
“Can you take us to the famous stores here?” Otto asked.
The driver nodded his head. They entered the car and sat in the back seat.
Swoosh!
The car departed. It didn’t take long for the spies to notice their departure.
The spies were shocked; they didn’t expect the staff to come to Tulip City. It was a major development. They had already shared the news with the higher-ups earlier.
Now that the staff were going somewhere, the spies started following the car again. They wanted to know what the staff were up to.
The spies suspected that the staff could be following the orders of the shop owner, Frank. They wanted to know whether there would be any retaliation from him.
Time passed.
Patrick and Otto entered the Beast Taming Store. They started their shopping, acting as if they had really come to buy things from the store.
No one recognized them, but Otto was busy collecting information. He listened to every important conversation, especially those related to Crystal City and Tulip City.
When the task was done, both of them left the shop. They continued with their activities, going to each shop and collecting information.
Their activities were noticed by the spies, who were shocked. They didn’t know what these staff members were doing.
When they asked around, they found out that the staff actually did buy items from the stores; they were not just fooling around.
The spies shared the information with the higher-ups. The higher-ups were taken aback and told the spies to continue following them.
Time passed.
Patrick and Otto roamed around the city. They didn’t only visit the stores; they also visited places filled with people, including the public square where many gathered.
Otto managed to collect a great deal of information, including intel unrelated to Crystal City. Both of them then walked around the street close to the Tulip Auction House.
They had arrived at an important place. Although the Auction House was closed, they believed people could still be working inside.
“It’s over. What am I going to do now?”
Otto heard a familiar voice. How could he forget it? It was the voice of old man Roderick.
He signaled to Patrick, who understood immediately. Both of them found a small eatery nearby.
They entered the shop and found an empty seat. From there, Otto continued to overhear the conversation.
“If I go outside, I could be facing death. The Wizard Families won’t let me go,” Roderick muttered to himself.
He had not told the other Wizard Families the truth. If they knew the plan had failed, they would take their anger out on him. Roderick needed to escape first.
“I will transfer the family power to my brother. Then I will leave the magic city to go and live somewhere else,” Roderick said to himself.
He didn’t know someone else was listening to his self-talk.
Outside
Otto’s heart was in turmoil. He couldn’t believe such a thing was happening. The Auction House owner and the Wizard Families had been abandoned by the Flame Elemental Tower.
He was happy. He was glad he had accepted the task to come here, as he was able to find out the truth.
Not only that, but he had collected other useful information as well. This intel would be valuable for their shop.
That night, both of them made the return journey. They paid a high fare to the cab driver, who agreed to drive all night to drop them at their destination.
The spies shared the information with the higher-ups again. From morning until night, the spies never let the two staff members out of their sight.
They hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary. Finally, the higher-ups realized that the shop owner, Frank, had sent people to probe.
But Tulip City seemed normal. The Tulip Auction House and the Wizard Families were not taking any action.
A few hours later, both of them returned to Crystal City. They quickly went back to the appraisal shop. Everyone was waiting inside the home.
The spies followed them to the Crystal community but could not enter. They then returned to their respective organizations.
Inside the home, everyone was waiting. Hank and Old Man Rock were seated. Patrick and Otto took their seats as well.
I was sitting on the sofa. Everyone turned toward them.
Otto looked at everyone before turning toward Master Vincent.
He said, “Master, you were right. Something did happen in the Tulip Auction House. I overheard the conversations. The Flame Elemental Tower gave up on the matter.”
“They are not going to follow the plan of the Tulip Auction House owner. They have abandoned the Auction House owner and the Wizard Families. That’s why the Auction House closed down and the Wizard Families reduced their activities.”
Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I think it is related to the news of Forbidden Wizard Erwin’s return.
I put my heart at ease. The other members relaxed after hearing the news. But I still hadn’t forgotten the Wizard Families, especially Magic Lord Benny, who used his pressure to harm me. I am going to remember this.
Then we talked about a few other topics before the discussion ended. We went back to our rooms.
…
Infinite Circle Leader Edmund learned the news as well. He raised his eyebrows in surprise.
He had thought shop owner Frank would be quiet for a while, but he didn’t expect him to send his men to Tulip City. He understood that Frank wanted to probe.
The silence from Tulip City was not a good thing. He wondered about it as well and decided to ask around about the news later.
