Gravity Mage with Level-Up System - Chapter 1820: Ominous Red Book

Chapter 1820: Ominous Red Book
Crystal City
That night, the old man and three middle-aged men stayed in Crystal City. They couldn’t go back without completing their task.
The old man had thought Shop Owner Frank was greedy and would surely buy the magic item. But they were wrong. The old man didn’t know if Shop Owner Frank had found something out.
They could only proceed with their second plan.
The Following Day
They gathered for a meeting. The old man and the three wizards discussed hiring local people. They figured locals wouldn’t be suspected by Shop Owner Frank.
They decided to let a local sell the magic item to the appraisal shop. They knew that Shop Owner Frank usually dealt only with important guests, while most deals were handled by the staff.
During the discussion, they made a decision: instead of the Black Skull, they were going to use another banned item.
This item wouldn’t attract any suspicion. Even an appraiser wouldn’t be able to find out the truth, unless they were decade old monsters.
The old man placed the banned item on the desk. The three middle-aged men stared at it. It was a red book. The red book looked ordinary, with no mana radiating from it.
The old man understood that Shop Owner Frank didn’t like evil magic items. It could be the shop’s policy. So, he was confident that the red book wouldn’t attract any unwanted attention.
One of the middle-aged men became curious. He asked, “Elder, what’s with the book? It doesn’t look like a banned item.”
The other two grew curious as well. They were just following the orders of the higher-ups, here only to provide support to the old man.
The old man smiled and said, “Apart from the Black Skull, the second most dangerous item in that forbidden area was this red book.”
“The SunHaven Forbidden Area is known to be the habitat of the Evil Blood Wizard. This red book is said to be an item that belonged to him.”
“History says that book has drunk the blood of many Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards. The Magic Union fought a tough battle to kill that Evil Blood Wizard. Later, the Mage Union collected the resources in that area.”
“It was said that a few magic items were lost during the battle. But in truth, the Green Elemental Tower had possession of some of them.”
“I don’t know whether the Mage Union is aware of it, but they won’t spare anyone caught with this item,” the old man said in a serious tone.
Hearing that, the three middle-aged men shuddered. The old man saw their reaction; he was scared as well. He wanted to dispose of the item as soon as possible.
Then, they found a suitable person among the locals. They gave him a huge amount of money. The person was a local thug, greedy for mana stones, with a strength of Level 8.
Because of this, he wouldn’t draw much attention to himself. After learning he needed to sell the book at the appraisal shop, the thug agreed.
One Hour Later
The thug arrived at the Crystal Community. He followed other customers and reached the mansion. He knew one portion of the mansion was used as the shop.
Inside the office room, I was watching the online news. The Zero Puppet stood beside me, monitoring the gallery room.
Time passed.
The Zero Puppet’s blue sockets flickered. It saw a customer taking out a red book and speaking to Patrick and Otto.
The puppet immediately analyzed the pattern on the book. It matched the description of one of the banned books in its database.
“Master, one more banned item has been detected,” the puppet said.
Hearing that, I put my device on the table and looked toward the gallery room. The puppet explained that the red book was another banned, ominous item from SunHaven City.
A hint of coldness appeared in my eyes. I was sure that the people from last night hadn’t given up. It appeared they had hired someone to sell this ominous object to the shop.
I stood up and walked out of the room, heading toward the middle-aged man. Upon seeing me, Patrick and Otto became quiet.
“What is it?” I asked.
“This man wants to sell his family heirloom,” Otto said.
Hearing that, my mouth twitched. I looked at the middle-aged man before accepting the red book. I looked at the cover and asked the system to probe it.
[Ding! Ominous Red Book Detected.]
[Evil Blood Artifact of the Evil Blood Wizard. Second Forbidden Item from SunHaven City.]
The system voice sounded in my mind. A storm set off in my heart the next moment. I was right. I looked at the man.
“This book doesn’t look good. You can take it back and leave. I’m not buying this,” I said.
Patrick and Otto were shocked. They didn’t understand; to them, it was just an ordinary book they could add to a collection.
The middle-aged man shuddered. He was scared that he had been exposed. He knew the masked man was Shop Owner Frank, who was a Supreme Wizard.
All the major forces were friendly to him, and the man didn’t want to offend such a person. Since Frank wasn’t going to buy it, he decided to leave and return the item.
The man didn’t say another word. He apologized and left the shop. Patrick and Otto were clueless and asked what had happened.
I didn’t hide the information from them. After learning it was a second forbidden object, they broke out into a cold sweat.
They had been so close to buying it. They never thought it was a trap. If not for the Master, they would have bought it directly.
But I ignored them and looked at the Zero Puppet. It was because of the puppet that I was able to find it.
I was right to increase the Zero Puppet’s knowledge. I should collect more information on satellite cities; they hide many secrets. In that way, I would be more prepared.
