Chapter 1838: Special Empty Ground

I spent time in the mana chamber. When the time was over, the room door opened automatically.

Then I walked outside. My gaze immediately fell on the people there. There were wizards coming and going.

I collected my thoughts and walked up to the exit. There were many wizards who had come to use the training facility.

I walked out of the building and came outside. My gaze fell on the cab services, and I saw a few cab drivers chatting among themselves.

A quick gleam appeared in my eyes. I wanted to find some clues about the forbidden area. All other areas were protected by magic formations.

It would be good if I came across unprotected areas. After deciding, I went over to the group of drivers.

I made small talk with them. The drivers learned that I was a tourist from outside, so they started introducing the city to me.

I wanted to know about all the interesting things. It appeared that the drivers had some reservations; they were not fully ready to reveal any secrets.

I took out a few mid-grade mana stones. There were four drivers. Their gaze fell on the mid-grade mana stones, and their eyes flashed with greediness.

“I will give one mid-grade mana stone for one secret. It could be anything related to the city,” I said to them.

The four of them looked at each other. Their breathing became faster. Mid-grade mana stones were hard to come by; they had only ever seen low-grade mana stones.

If they could get mid-grade mana stones, they could either use them for themselves or exchange them for low-grade mana stones. Either way, the mana stones were useful to them.

One of the burly men said, “This is not the place to talk. Guest, we can go somewhere else. There is a huge empty playground in a remote area of the city.”

“No wizard families live nearby,” he added.

Hearing that, the others said the same thing.

“Okay,” I replied.

Then I entered one of the cars. I sat in the back seat. It was the car of the burly middle-aged man.

Swoosh!

The car departed from the place. Soon, all four cars left. I paid attention to the scenery passing outside.

I didn’t expect people to be so ready to reveal secrets. I think I should have done this from the beginning.

It didn’t take long for the four flying cabs to reach the empty playground. The empty playground was more than 1,500 square feet of land.

It was a medium-sized ground. Apart from theirs, there were other cars as well, but they were parked a distance away.

When the cars came to a halt, the drivers stepped outside. I walked out of the car as well. My gaze fell on the empty field.

The ground was covered in green patches. There were people here and there, talking.

A hint of surprise flashed in my eyes. I didn’t expect such an empty ground to be located in this remote area.

Then the four drivers looked at each other. They had decided to share some secrets.

The burly man said, “Guest, you said you would give one mid-grade stone for one secret.”

He wanted to confirm my words. Hearing that, the others turned toward me as well.

I nodded and said, “I want to know things about the city that the public mostly isn’t aware of.”

Hearing that, the four drivers agreed.

The burly man was the first one to speak.

He said, “Well, I don’t know what kind of secret you mean, but I will tell you what I know. For example, this empty ground is a special place. It was left empty for a reason. The plot belongs to one of the wizard families here.”

“They tried to build buildings here, but they failed to complete any construction. I don’t know why, but they gave up after that,” he added.

Before the drivers could speak again, I used the system probe function.

[Ding! Secret hidden chamber detected.]

[Ding! No magic formations placed.]

The system voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, my heart stirred. I didn’t expect the thing I was looking for to be located right here.

The burly middle-aged man continued to share information, but I was focused on the hidden underground chamber.

“The wizard families have many suspicious places, but the public isn’t allowed to step inside, even if the place is an abandoned empty ground like this,” the burly middle-aged man added.

Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

“Who is the owner of this plot?” I asked them.

The burly middle-aged man stopped talking.

“This empty ground belongs to the Crest Family,” he replied.

Hearing that, my eyes flickered. I had just met the young master of the Crest Family. I didn’t know whether they were aware of the hidden underground chamber here.

If they knew, why hadn’t they uncovered it? There must be another reason. Unfortunately, I couldn’t ask Gary Crest.

It didn’t take long for the others to share their stories.

One hour later, I paid them each ten mid-grade mana stones. They offered to drop me at the hotel, but I told them I had somewhere else to go.

The four drivers thanked me before leaving. When they were gone, I shifted my attention to the empty ground.

I asked the system if there was any way to enter the underground chamber, but the system’s reply was simple.

I would have to dig up the place. Only after excavating the sand and stones on top would I find the chamber entrance.

There was another simple way: I could use a magic spell to overturn the land, and then the underground chamber would be exposed.

After pondering for a while, I could only think of using Gary Crest. But it wouldn’t be easy to fool him. Why would he cooperate with me, since he knew my real identity?

“Sigh!”

A deep sigh escaped my lips. Since I now knew about the empty ground, I felt it was important to get more information related to it.
