GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2261: Unmoved And Unconcerned.

Chapter 2261: Unmoved And Unconcerned.
The puppet wasn’t moved, so the Undying urged again, “I hope you don’t think that by letting your puppet be destroyed, the Golden Hammer gang will let you go. Your gang is close to theirs, so you’re bound to fight.”
“Since you helped to invade their territory, you should expect them to do the same thing to you. If you help me escape, I will help you fight and defend your territory. I promise to do this as long as I don’t die.”
He said a lot, but the puppet still wasn’t moved.
Thr puppet said woodenly, “I don’t expect leniency, but I also don’t think we can escape from here. That is why I have given up on escaping, not that I think they will let me go. I have decided to spend my limited time here gathering intelligence so that I won’t repeat the same mistake as Rack.”
Then it said, “Now that we’ve sorted out our differences, can you tell me why the defenses of the base have been prepared to turn on enemies within the base? How did they know that we would bypass their defenses completely?”
“Did the spy sell us out? But how did the spy know? Didn’t Rack say he lied to the spy and called the gateway a locator?”
The puppet had a lot of questions, but the Undying wasn’t in the mood to answer. The Undying just gritted his teeth and focused on picking a path to escape from.
This behavior displeased the puppet. So the puppet said in disdain, “I hope you don’t think because you won’t expose the secrets of the Golden Hammer gang that they will let you go? Since you’re already going to die, there should be no harm if you help me out.”
The Undying swore at him, “Fuck you.”
Just as he did, two large harpoons flew from the top of the wall towards the two of them. They flew through the air so fast that they broke the sound barrier.
Their speed was very fast, and the distance between their targets and them was short, so they reached the target in less than 300 milliseconds.
The puppet had given up on escaping, so it was impaled directly. The harpoon collided with it and caused it to explode before going through the puppet and impaling the ground beneath it.
The puppet was bisected in two after its torso exploded. Its legs and upper torso fell to the ground and were roasted by the fire.
As for the Undying, he wasn’t rank 6 yet and didn’t have the Danger Sense divine ability, so there was no way to anticipate the attack.
His perception was strong, so he was able to sense the attack before it struck him. But by then, it was already too late to dodge. He could only take the harpoon head-on.
After sensing that the attack was purely physical, he decided that it wasn’t worth the spiritual energy to block it. So he removed the Aegis shield and all of his defenses.
It was easy to remove the divine abilities defending him, but it wasn’t easy to remove the external armor that he was wearing so quickly. The external armor would take time to retract, so it was still in the way when the harpoon struck.
Because of the resistance of the armor, the harpoon pushed the godclad. But the harpoon itself still pierced into the undying godclad and nailed him to the ground.
The godclad didn’t care about being nailed to the ground. In fact, he thought that it was a good situation for him.
This was proven when he forcefully cut himself away from the harpoon. He did this by letting the sharp hook attached to the harpoon cut through his torso completely.
So there was a hole through his stomach, and that hole extended all the way to his sides. The injury seems bad, but he thought that it was better than the alternative.
This was because he could use his rank 5 Regeneration to heal his wounds completely. The spiritual energy needed to heal such a terrible wound was less than the amount that it would cost to block the attack.
This was why he decided to give up on defending. If the attack was accompanied by the divine ability of another pathway, he would have been put in a difficult spot by the attack.
But since the attack was purely physical and had no spiritual component, whatever injury it inflicted on him would be easy to heal.
In fact, he didn’t heal the injury completely. He only healed it enough for him to be able to move.
What’s more, the harpoon had pushed him towards a direction he could escape in. So after freeing himself from the harpoon, he began to escape in that direction.
This time he activated his divine abilities to defend himself. He also moved in a zigzag manner in order to avoid the harpoons.
The direction he chose was the one where the army came from. He wants to get to the barack or far away from the other leaders of the Golden Hammer. As long as he gets some respite, he will be able to climb the walls to escape.
The only enemies in his way right now are four flamethrowers who are throwing enough flames to form a wall of flames that is five meters thick.
The wall of flame is as thick as a room. He would have to go through this thick wall of flames if he wants to escape. It might look daunting, but he judged that it would be easier to do so than to confront the leaders of the Golden Hammer gang.
He is a rank 5 godclad, and an undying one at that. So it would take a lot more than some flames to kill him.
He was right about that. The problem was that there was someone else who knew just how much was needed to kill him and by her calculations, it wasn’t much.
