GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2342: Run Wild.

Chapter 2342: Run Wild.
After laughing to their heart’s content, the voice from the forest said, “That wasn’t bad. I was hoping for total death, but this is good too.”
Then the speaker egged on the divine beasts, “Go on. Run wild. Destroy everything you hold dear for me to see. Entertain me with your madness.”
Legion had mixed feelings about whoever was speaking. On the one hand, they were impressed because the speaker, if they are the one responsible for that attack, should be a rank 9 killer.
The attack that the vine plants had created when they killed themselves looked like it was created using Blood Sacrifice. Blood Sacrifice is a rank 9 divine ability of the pathway of killing, which is why they think the person who was responsible for the attack is a rank 9 killer.
The alternative is that an epic godclad got ahold of a powerful divine artifact created with the corpse of a godling killer or even the corpse of the god of killing and used it to nearly kill two legends. Even that is still impressive.
Whichever the case is, whether the perpetrator is a rank 9 killer or an epic godclad or even a normal godclad with a mid-grade divine artifact, Legion will still be impressed with them. This is also why they are afraid of them a little bit.
The fear that they feel for the person in the forest is why they have mixed feelings about them. They can still remember that existential dread that they felt, so they know that if they had been struck head-on by that attack, they would have died.
To be fair, the Blood Sacrifice divine ability is not all-powerful. The power of an attack created with Blood Sacrifice is dependent on the power and value of the blood or life that is sacrificed for the attack.
In this case, Legion suspects that the whole attack on the city had been a setup for Blood Sacrifice. They suspect that the four rank 6 beasts had merely been lackeys tasked with the objective to bring the four seeds into the city.
They believe that the goal was that the four seeds would have been sacrificed at the end of the day after they had grown and harvested a lot of blood. But the legends appeared early on to interfere with the process, which led to them not dying.
Legion can already picture the full impact of the attack if the vine plants had been given more time and allowed to harvest more blood. Each vine plant would have been able to create an attack capable of taking down one legend each.
So if the plan of the mastermind had gone well, instead of two red lightning bolts failing to kill one legend, four legends would have died. The more they thought of this, the more impressed and fearful they became.
Legion-7 asked the question that everyone of them was thinking, “I thought that they said that the legendary beast in the forest was just rank 7. When did it become a rank 9 killer?”
Legion-4 corrected him, “I don’t think the nobles said it was rank 7. They actually didn’t speak much about it. All we heard about it were rumors.”
Legion-7 insisted, “Even so, when did it become rank 9? How could we be living in a city so close to a rank 9 godclad? It is even a rank 9 killer too. Are the nobles mad?”
Legion-11 explained, “I don’t think the nobles knew that the legendary beast in the forest was a rank 9 godclad. Their ignorance would explain why they were caught off guard and didn’t prepare better for such an attack.”
Legion-2 agreed and said, “At the very least, they shouldn’t have let the vine plants kill for so long before they appeared if they knew that the one behind them was a rank 9 killer.”
Legion-5 shook his head and said, “If it were me, I wouldn’t have let the beasts enter the city at all if I knew that they were related to a rank 9 killer. I would have combined all of my forces to kill the beasts outside the city.”
Legion-7 was still fearful. He said, “This is a rank 9 killer. An angel of killing, for God’s sake. I don’t think any killing going on around then would have helped the situation.”
Legion-1 nodded and said, “That’s true.”
Rank 7 godclads are called legends, but rank 8 godclads are called demigods, and rank 9 godclads are called angels. Each one is more honorable and feared than the last.
This clear demarcation of title between these last three stages is because the difference in power between them can be as wide as the difference in power between an epic godclad and a normal godclad or the difference in power between a legend and an epic godclad.
Collectively, they are legendary godclads. They are all the stuff of legends. But even legends can be about different things, and legendary godclads are capable of so many feats.
In this case, a rank 9 killer is called an angel of killing. Even gods can be killed by an angel of killing, but what is most terrifying about an angel of killing is that they are one step away from becoming the next angel of killing.
If the conditions are right, all an angel needs to become a god is the authority of the pathway. This makes their existence a frightening thing.
The existence of angels of killing in particular frightens the church of justice so much that they always move out to kill angels of killing whenever they sense them.
The church of justice usually send out an angel of justice to kill angels of killing as soon as possible. This is to prevent the appearance of another god of killing.
Legion would have expected this to happen in the next few days if not for the fact that the church of justice is currently embroiled in a losing war with the kingdom of Wessex and also tied down in other places.
