GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2424: Resonating Divine Flesh.

Chapter 2424: Resonating Divine Flesh.
To hunt in the spiritual dimension will require a method to enter the spiritual dimension and survive there. Both of these requirements must be met, or the spiritual dimension will remain off-limits like it has to many people.
Of course, there is also the requirement of having enough strength to actually kill the divine beast. This is a concern because it is expected that something that is further along the pathway than you will be stronger than you.
Legion is one of the few people that can kill people that are one level above them. So they are not worried about lacking the strength to kill a rank 8 blood beast while they are rank 7 killers themselves.
There is also the option of using their fishing rod to fish for blood beasts in the safety of the physical dimension. It will just be slow and uncertain compared to entering the spiritual dimension and having blood beasts appearing around them to hunt them and kill them.
The spiritual dimension is dangerous, but the fact is that as long as they are strong enough, they won’t have a problem surviving in it and getting what they want.
The third alternative is to rob the base of a powerful group of lamp bearers or buy the divine flesh from the vault of gold. They intend to try out all of their options except robbing lamp bearers.
With that decision made, they took out the rank 8 divine flesh of the pathway of slavery and began to absorb it. The divine flesh was a slab of black and white rotting meat. It looked gross and smelled worse.
Fortunately, they didn’t need to swallow it to assimilate it. It burrowed into their body as soon as it touched their flesh.
The divine flesh was behaving like a parasite and was treating them like its new host. They didn’t mind this behavior at all.
In fact, they liked that the divine flesh was showing enthusiasm for this process. It was good news for them.
No matter how ugly and disgusting the divine flesh is, at the very least, they didn’t sense any danger from it, so they can’t be dissatisfied with it.
The assimilation process was different this time around. The divine flesh itself settled comfortably in their soul space, which marked a successful assimilation. But it also caused some changes to their existence as it did so.
Usually, divine flesh only causes the body and one’s existence to change at rank 1, rank 4, and rank 7. These are the milestones that mark the evolution of a human into a godclad, epic godclad, and legendary godclad.
One might expect this kind of change to occur at rank 10 or the god rank next. But this is not so after one becomes a legend.
Every step after one becomes a legendary godclad is monumental and leads to significant changes in one’s existence. So there will be changes at rank 8 and rank 9 too.
This is why rank 8 and rank 9 are considered their own level of existence. The changes that godclads undergo at these stages make them so different from the legendary realm that the two stages were given their own names.
For rank 8, the name of the realm is the demigod realm. The change that one experiences here is that all the divine flesh in the body comes to life.
The divine flesh in the body must come to life. If they don’t come to life, then one is not a demigod and will not be able to enjoy the extra advantages of being a demigod.
For the divine flesh to come to life, the godclad must have a lot of spiritual energy to feed them. That means, as soon as one becomes a demigod, their divine flesh will begin draining them of spiritual energy.
It will be as if the previously symbiotic divine flesh are turning into parasites. If the divine flesh don’t get enough spiritual energy to gain sentience, the godclad will die.
Legion has a lot of spiritual energy, so the high requirement of spiritual energy is not a problem for them.
After all the divine flesh of the pathway of slavery came to life, they began to resonate with the host. This is the next step that will determine if they will rebel or help the host advance.
If the divine flesh are satisfied with the host, then all is well, and the host can finish their advancement requirements to advance to the next rank.
This kind of advancement requirement will be something simple that is meant to help the host grow stronger, not a ritual that is needed to be performed in order to fool the divine flesh into believing that their current host is the ancestor of the pathway.
If the now sentient divine flesh don’t resonate well with the host, they will try to rebel. Fortunately, this is not the end of the day for the godclad. They can still undergo certain rituals to appease the divine flesh temporarily.
In Legion’s case, the eight divine flesh resonated well with them. But not only that, they also expressed good will and urged Legion to advance as soon as possible.
The divine flesh was telling them that they need any advancement requirement and can directly assimilate the next divine flesh. This was all because the divine flesh had accepted them as the ancestor of the pathway.
Legion was glad for their enthusiasm, but they didn’t think it was a good idea to forgo the advancement requirement. After all, they only looked like the ancestor of the pathway to the divine flesh. They were not truly the ancestor of the pathway.
They still intend to fulfill the advancement requirement just to be safe. In the meantime, the drain on their spiritual energy stopped, and they could now use the advantage of being a demigod.
Since the divine flesh had become sentient, they didn’t need to continue draining their spiritual energy in order to awaken.
