GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2439: Identity Switch.

Chapter 2439: Identity Switch.
The first trap that she laid down is a mental trap that started with the Sensory Hijack divine ability. It is the one that she used on the virtual copy, so it is very dangerous.
However, this trap needed to make mental contact with the target to work. This was impossible to achieve on Legion because they were shielded. Only the second trap stood a chance at working on them.
The second trap was the one that she had laid with the rank 4 Marionette divine ability. She had laid a wide net around the area to catch physical beings.
Any physical object thay entered it would be trapped. Only mental constructs like the virtual copy can avoid it.
The web that she had laid down still couldn’t trap Legion or take over their body because of the Aegis Shield divine ability. But it could still slow them down by trying to drag them down.
This would allow the demigod telepath to escape. But Legion was not going to let it happen.
Legion quickly activated the Imprison divine ability and used it on the demigod. They also used their new Life Siphon divine ability on her.
If they had more long-range physical divine abilities, they would have used them on her. They had many long-range mental divine abilities, but they didn’t dare to use them on her for fear of being infected by her Mind Plague divine ability.
Her Mind Plague is capable of bypassing all of their defenses and shields because it will follow the mental link to their minds. As long as their Aegis Shield divine ability doesn’t stop them from using mental attacks, then it can’t stop the Mind Plagues.
The inability to use all of their means meant that despite their quick combo of physical attacks and catching her off guard, she was still able to slip into the Mindscape and disappear.
Their prey had disappeared. This was the same thing thay had happened earlier when their virtual copy had lost the support of their spiritual energy. But the position of predator and prey had swapped.
This time, it was the turn of Legion to chuckle and say, “How amusing.”
Legion-3 cackled darkly and said, “Let the race begin.”
Then they used the Predict divine ability to find their prey. This time, they scored a hit because they had seen her, they had fought her, they still had a divine ability working on her, and she couldn’t block them from tracing her.
They got the information they wanted. Then they used Predict to confirm that there was no danger with where they were going.
When they had confirmed the lack of overwhelming danger, they slipped back into the Mindscape and appeared close to where she was.
She was in the Mindscape trying to get rid of the black and spiked chains bounding her. The black chains were constricting her movement and absorbing her energy to grow bigger.
For now, the black chains were absorbing her life energy. But as they grow stronger and as Legion continues to feed it spiritual energy from afar, she will slowly be drained of her spiritual energy, and her connection with her divine abilities will be severed.
If that were to happen, she wouldn’t be able to maintain her divine form and would have to fall out of the Mindscape. So it was very important for her to get rid of the black chains.
If the black chains were manifestations of a divine ability and were mentally connected to Legion, she would have been able to use them to counterattack Legion. Unfortunately, they were not.
The only thing thay she could do was produce phantoms of her divine form to resist and break the black chains. She layered the phantom of a giant bird around her body and used it to push the black chains apart.
She tried to push the black chains to the limit and then break them. Unfortunately for her, it wouldn’t work because the owner of the Black Chains possesses spiritual power thay was as powerful as hers and was still constantly supporting the divine ability with a lot of spiritual energy.
Things got worse because instead of breaking the chains, the black chains managed to absorb the top-layered phantom and sealed the divine flesh away from her. So she lost not only the phantom but also the divine ability from the divine flesh.
This loss was critical to her because she needed her divine abilities to form her liberated divine form. Fortunately, the worst didn’t happen because the divine ability thay was lost was the rank 8 one since it was at the top.
She needed at least seven divine flesh and divine abilities to maintain her divine form. So the loss of one, and the rank 8 one at that, didn’t make her lose her divine form. But one more loss will cripple her divine form.
In order to prevent the loss of another divine ability, she stopped using her phantoms to break the black chains. This reverted her to the beginning but in a worse situation.
Now she has lost a divine ability, and the black chains are stronger. By the most optimistic estimate, her situation wasn’t looking good at all.
She knew that her situation was bad. She even knew what to do to resolve it. But she douted thay she was capable of doing what she needed to do to be safe.
She said to herself, “This is clearly the imprison divine ability. So he is a slaver too. What I need to do to escape the black chains is to either break them or kill their owner.”
There were a lot of things bothering her. For example, she was confused as to how Legion was able to use the Imprison divine ability while in the liberated form of the pathway of telepathy.
But she didn’t dwell on thay confusing aspect right now. She had more important matters to deal with. The most important matter is how to escape her bounds.
