The rest of their message said, “You have to agree to it and help us after receiving it. So are you still interested? If not, then there is nothing else we can offer you that might interest you.”
Legion chuckled to themselves when they received this message.
Legion-3 said in amusement, “Of all the pathways that they could offer, they offer the pathway of killing? To think that they are doing this just to cheat us?”
This wasn’t what Legion had asked for. They had asked the demigod telepaths to list out the rank 9 divine flesh that they had. But instead of doing so, these people only stated one divine flesh and asked them to accept the deal or refuse it.
Even so, Legion was still very pleased about this outcome. But they didn’t indicate any of their excitement through their reply.
Their message said, “I see what you’re doing. But no matter. We still have a deal. Get me the rank 9 divine flesh, and I will join you to resist the angel.”
Someone became angry and said to them, “You should also swear that you won’t try to gain control of the Mind Palace forever.”
They wanted to use this opportunity to eliminate Legion as a future threat, but Legion wasn’t going to let that happen.
They sent back a message saying, “If you give me the rank 9 divine flesh of the pathway of telepathy, I might consider the oath. But there is no way I’m going to give up my future pathway for something that I don’t even need.”
Someone else asked, “At least swear that you will always resist the angel and stop him from gaining control of the Mind Palace.”
Legion refused to do this request too because they don’t want to draw the attention of gods by swearing an oath to them. They forced the demigod telepaths to believe that they will resist the angel after getting the rank 9 divine flesh.
It was risky to give payment before service, but the demigods had to take the risk. Besides, even if they lost out on the deal and Legion refused to stop the angel, what they would lose was a rank 9 divine flesh that they didn’t value.
Legion will also suffer if the angel becomes the god of the pathway. So they felt confident taking the risk.
They were also confident in their power as they banded together and went to the spiritual dimension to hunt rank 9 blood beasts. They sent their virtual copies, so no matter the outcome of the hunt, they will be safe.
Even though they were only demigods and were sending virtual copies with a limited number of divine abilities and lacked the enhancement of their liberated divine form and phantoms of their divine beast form, they didn’t think that they would fail in this hunt.
Not only is their target an angel with divine power, but it is also a killer who is resistant to mental influence. Yet, they were very confident of success.
Killers become resistant to mental influence after they reach rank 6 and acquire the Bloodthirsty divine ability. This divine ability makes them laser-focused on killing everything, and it makes it difficult to change their minds about this.
In fact, it is very difficult for killers to change their own minds after they start using the Bloodthirsty divine ability. This is why it is so easy for them to lose their minds.
This reason is also why telepaths will find it difficult to brainwash killers using this divine ability. As long as the mind of the killer has not been shut down and as long as they are using the Bloodthirsty divine ability, they will always attack everyone.
Blood beasts are always using the bloodthirsty divine ability. They are constantly mad and will always attack everything that is not a blood beast.
But the demigod telepaths are not worried because their virtual copies are hidden and can’t be seen. So no matter how laser-focused a killer is, they won’t be able to stop the virtual copies from getting close to them and influencing their minds.
The demigods were also confident of success because their virtual copies can use their rank 7 Mind Domination divine ability and their rank 8 Mind Plague divine ability.
These two divine abilities will ensure that even the mind of the maddest killer will be eventually worn down and destroyed by them. The best part is that they can do this from the safety of their home in the physical dimension.
But they encountered a big problem as soon as the hunt began. This big problem was that they couldn’t find the blood beasts.
They didn’t have any bait to use to draw rank 9 blood beasts, so they expected to find it difficult to find what they wanted.
Their plan was to use the flesh of epic godclads to draw weaker blood beasts. Then they would search the memories of the weaker blood beast for the location of the stronger blood beasts.
Unfortunately for them, their bait didn’t work at all, and they couldn’t find any blood beasts, be they weak or strong anywhere around them. However, this still didn’t mean their quest for a rank 9 blood beast was hopeless.
Since they couldn’t find blood beasts, they changed their targets to other divine beasts in the spiritual dimension that might know the location of blood beasts. The divine beast that they used as an alternative was psychic shrieker.
Psychic Shriekers are divine beasts with some of the divine abilities of telepaths. They are the beast equivalent of telepaths, and just like telepaths, they know a lot because they feed on the minds of other creatures and are capable of reading their memories.
The best part is that memory fragments are the right bait for the psychic shriekers, and they have a lot of memory fragments. So psychic shriekers are the best divine beast for the job as they will be easy to bait and should have the information that they need about the location of blood beasts.
