GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2479: Preliminary Control.

Chapter 2479: Preliminary Control.
There was now a mystical connection between them and the Mind Palace that was similar to their connection with the Ocean of Blood through the flesh of the previous god of killing.
But this connection between them and the Mind Palace was stronger. Not only could they sense its direction like they can for the Ocean of Blood, but they could also sense its state, use its power, and command it to help them.
The first thing that they did with this power to command the Mind Palace was to sever the connection between the Mind Palace and every other telepath.
This action caused every telepath in the pathway, including the ones in the headquarters of the Mind Hunters, to lose access to the Mind Palace. Everyone was kicked out, and it caused an uproar.
News quickly spread among various forces that the authority of the pathway of telepathy had finally gained a controller. Legion didn’t care about this. They quickly continued with the steps needed to consolidate their control of the Mind Palace.
The second thing that they did was to begin converting the Mind Palace into a part of their existence. This step required the use of the Gestalt Mind divine ability, which is why only an angel could gain control of the Mind Palace.
They needed to perform this step in order to ascend to become the god of the pathway. They sensed it after they gained control of the Mind Palace that once it becomes a part of them, they would be able to become the god of the pathway.
The Mind Palace had its own ego, so they needed to use the Gestalt Mind divine ability to change its ego to theirs. This is a process that would take a long time to complete.
In order to achieve this step of unity with the authority of the pathway without any interruption, they went to retrieve the Mind Palace and gain physical control of it. In order to do this, they had to go to the Mindscape, to where the Mind Palace was.
When Legion-10 arrived in the Mindscape, they found many people waiting for them around the Mind Palace. These people were less than 50, and they looked ready to fight Legion.
As Legion examined them, they noticed that everyone differed in stature and appearance. They also noticed that all of these people were telepaths.
It was obvious that all of them were telepaths and that the weakest among them was at rank 7 because all of them were in the divine form of the psychic shrieker.
The bulk of the assembly was rank 7. But there were some rank 8 demigods among them.
These demigods stood out from the crowd because they were bigger than the rest. Legion recognized some of them as the two who ran away from the Mind Palace earlier.
They also recognized more demigod telepaths, such as the last demigod that has been brainwashed by the first angel of telepathy. But there were some demigods that they didn’t recognize at all.
To top things off, there was also the first angel of telepathy blocking their way. He was the biggest telepath here.
The first angel stood above everyone and the Mind Palace. Legion had appeared below him, so even though they were of the same size, the first angel had the advantage of position and looked ready to drop down on them.
All of these people surrounded the Mind Palace. Legion didn’t think that these people were doing them a favor by guarding the Mind Palace for them.
Before they could ask what was going on, the first angel didn’t address them.
He said, “We will never allow a god to appear in our pathway. You will have to go through us to get the Mind Palace.”
Legion-10 shrugged and said, “Fine.”
Then they disappeared in retreat. They left the Mindscape.
The first angel didn’t think that Legion would give up just like that. So after Legion left, he said to the other people, “Don’t relax just yet. I’m sure that he has a plan up his sleeve.”
“But don’t be afraid either. We outnumber him. We can handle whatever he does.”
Legion was listening to this in secret. When they heard this rally cry, they scoffed and said, “Just how long do you plan to stand guard?”
They were not concerned at all despite the impressive lineup against them. It appeared that every legend in the pathway rose up to stand up against them, but that wasn’t going to be enough to stop them.
They were not concerned because they had too few methods to defeat all of these people. As things are, they are sure that they alone would be enough to defeat all of these people even if they fought them alone.
They could even picture how they would do so. According to their deduction, all they would need to defeat these people, or at least stall them, is to use the rank 1 Mental Probe divine ability to create a mental connection between them and their enemies.
Then they would exploit that mental connection by deploying rank 8 Mind Plague through it. This was going to be enough to hold all of them back, including the first angel. It would just consume a lot of spiritual energy to attack so many people at once.
They could also take things slow by leaving and using the Mind Palace to attack them from a safe distance in the physical dimension. After all, they are the only ones who can still use the Mind Palace for ranged attacks.
Thanks to the privilege of gaining preliminary control of the Mind Palace, they don’t have to fight their enemies head on while their enemies have to stand guard around the Mind Palace all day everyday.
This grants them an advantage where their location would be unknown, and they would be safe while all of their enemies around the Mind Palace will fall dead one by one.
