GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2633: Visible Threat.

Chapter 2633: Visible Threat.
Since the god of illusion didn’t put up a fight, he didn’t make enough noise to draw attention to his situation, so it was very difficult for other gods to notice that he was dead. But some gods noticed that he had been killed.
However, the gods who noticed the swift death of the god of illusion didn’t want to step out to interfere at all. At the very least, they weren’t willing to take action unless many other gods appeared to take a stand.
Either way, Legion was ready for them. So the virtual body was unconcerned as it began to try to take control of the Mirror of the World. They were very familiar with this authority, so it was easy for them to gain control of it.
The virtual body killed the god of illusion, took the authority of illusion, and left with it without anyone stepping forward to stop him. But this was not the case for the god of nobles. Some gods interfered with their attempt to kill the god of nobles.
The god of death and the god of disaster came to help the god of nobles. So the fight was three against one.
The virtual body had struggled to kill the god of nobles before the god of death, and the god of disaster showed up to help. So by all reason, the three of them working together should be able to defeat the virtual body, kill it, or at least send it away.
But this wasn’t what happened because the reason they could fight the virtual body at all in the first place was that the virtual body had appeared openly and attacked the god of nobles openly. All of these signs of weakness had been intentional.
Legion had intentionally made the virtual body visible to everyone so that the helpers of the god of nobles would be able to see it and come to the rescue of the god of nobles.
They had also made the virtual body struggle in the fight against the god of nobles, so that the would-be helpers of the god of nobles would think that the virtual body was weak and easily dedeatable by them.
All of this was done in order to bait the god of death from leaving the underworld and appearing before them. So they were scheming to attract the god of death in a similar way to how they had schemed against him in another timeline when he came to rescue the god of illusion.
At that time, they had schemed in order to work together with the god of nobles, the god of death, and the god of disaster against the god of justice. But their goal this time around is very different.
They had to scheme like that because they didn’t have enough strength to attack the god of nobles openly.
So they schemed to create a legitimate reason to get close to the god of nobles. But now that they have enough strength to proceed with a massacre, they have to scheme to ensure that their enemies won’t become too afraid of their great strength and run away from them or hide away somewhere that will make it difficult to find them.
If the god of death hides in the underworld, it will be difficult to get to him. So once the god of death appeared, they used the Mind Plague divine ability on him.
The Mind Plague’s divine ability ravaged the mind of the god of Plague like a fire ravaging dry grass. Or to be more accurate, the mind of the god of death was ravaged by the Mind Plague like lava would ravage dry grass. This was because there was a vast gap in their power.
The god of death stood no chance against the Mind Plague at all. His memories were harvested en masse, and his mind was scattered quickly. He died in less than a second of the attack being used on him, even though the Mind Plague divine ability is supposed to be a slow-acting divine ability.
However, this didn’t kill the god of death permanently. Because of his phylactery, he was able to recover whole and hearty in the underworld.
After resurrecting, he should have been happy and gleeful that the virtual body failed to kill him, and he should have quickly set out to join the fight against the virtual body. But he couldn’t do any of these because he was too afraid.
He couldn’t be happy because, for some reason, he could feel the shadow of death approaching him. He doesn’t know if this is an illusion created from the immense fear that he felt when the Mind Plague had killed him as easily as a lion killing a chicken. But he took the feeling seriously and decided to stay put in the underworld.
Even if his feeling of danger is fake and he is just being paranoid, he doesn’t think his presence in the fight will make much of a difference in saving the god of nobles. He is sure about this after experiencing the power of the enemy and the ease with which he was quickly killed.
As it turned out, he was right to be afraid. His fears were quickly confirmed when the god of life appeared in the underworld. Apparently, when he was busy fighting the god of nobles, dying, and resurrecting, she had taken the opportunity of his absence to break into the underworld.
This was all achieved because she had been lying in wait even before the god of death left the underworld to help the god of nobles resist the virtual body. In his absence, he couldn’t block her from gaining entry into the underworld.
It is clear that she knew beforehand that the god of death and his allies were doomed. She had also somehow known where the underworld would be and that the god of death would be unavailable to stop her from entering it.
