GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? - Chapter 2643: Many Unexpected.

Chapter 2643: Many Unexpected.
They were predicting how the fight would proceed and we’re ready to deal with whatever their enemy could throw at them. But something they didn’t expect happened after they used the Cognitive Adaptation divine ability.
Instead of activating its rank 10 divine ability or any other divine ability in response to their actions, the opponent before them fell to the ground, knelt, and bowed to them.
They were surprised not because they hadn’t seen this kind of behavior before. In fact, they had seen this kind of thing from the memories of every high god. It is something that only occurs after they have won the fight.
The enemy shouldn’t give up and surrender to them right from the beginning of the fight without exchanging a blow with them, so they were surprised by this turn of events. But no matter how surprised they were, they didn’t stop trying to kill the enemy.
They continued to attack the enemy according to their plan. The fact that the enemy wasn’t fighting back wasn’t going to make them pause. After all, these might all be a ruse. In fact, it might be the effect of the rank 10 divine ability of the enemy to make it appear harmless.
Legion attacked the enemy with a Mental Armament divine ability. They formed invisible blades that they controlled to shoot down the enemy.
But before their attacks could connect and hit the enemy, the giant black bird on its knees before them began to disintegrate. So their attacks phased through it without harming it.
This, too, is something that they had seen many times in their memories or high gods. The enemy always disintegrates after a lengthy but victorious fight with it. The fact that this was happening just after the enemy surrendered to them made Legion begin to suspect that they might truly have won without a fight.
They were confused, but they were willing to accept that they might have won. However, they stopped thinking about that because something that they had never seen before in any memory happened.
The disintegrating enemy said to them, “Welcome back, my creator.”
What it should have said after victory was, “You are worthy of becoming my creator.”
The latter is what they have seen in the memory of every high god that they have defeated. But the authority of the pathway didn’t say that they were worthy. It directly called them the creator.
This made Legion-1 say to the others, “It seems it has misunderstood our identity. It is not surprising, to be honest. It has happened many times before. I just expected it from a divine flesh, not the authority of the pathway.”
Legion-10 nodded in agreement and said, “If it truly mistook us for its creator, then it would explain why it didn’t bother to fight us.”
As they were talking, the white world around them also began to disintegrate. The white world around them flaked away like dust in the wind to reveal a dark, gloomy, and empty world beneath it.
Even the ground beneath them fell away and became nothingness. So they were suspended in an empty black void.
They didn’t remain suspended for long, though. After a while, they began to fall. Since there was nothing around them, it felt as if they were falling into an abyss of nothingness.
This turn of events caught them off guard because no high god has ever experienced this. The trial to become a high god should have ended after the authority deemed them worthy, and they returned to the world to advance into the high god of the pathway.
But instead of ascending to the physical dimension, they appeared to be descending into further darkness.
Fortunately, the entire world wasn’t completely empty. There was a small source of light in the distance. As they fell, they became closer to this small source of light.
When they got close enough to the source of light, they realized that it was made up of three colors. These three colors were red, blue, and green. Apparently, there was something in this dark world that was producing those three colors.
As they got closer, they were able to identify what the source of the three colors was. They saw that the light of the three colors was coming from chains engraved with red runes, blue runes, and green runes.
Upon further examination, they saw that the three colored chains were binding a giant black bird. This giant black bird was many times bigger than they were. It was as large as the whole of Tenubrum. So it looked as if they were approaching a being as large as a continent.
It was already impressive that this giant black bird is as big as a continent. But what was most impressive about the giant black bird was that it was this large, even though it was very incomplete.
The giant black bird only had its head intact. The rest of its body was a glass-like transparent skeleton draped in pieces of grey translucent flesh. So it was missing more than 90% of its body, yet its head was still as big as a continent.
They could imagine just how big the giant black bird was when it was healthy and complete because they had seen beings that were bigger than this before. But they were not thinking about this because they had seen the grey translucent flesh of the giant bird and recognized it at a glance.
Right now, they have a lot to think about because they recognize too many things about this situation. They recognize the grey translucent flesh of the giant bird to be the divine flesh of the pathway of telepathy. After fusing with it nine times, they can recognize it at a glance.
There are other things about the situation that they recognize, too. There is the fact that this giant black bird also had one empty socket on its head where its single eye should be, and the fact that they have seen the chains with three different colors of runes before.
