Chapter 2646: A Second Accusation.

After making the decision to sever their pathway from the world, they went ahead to complete the trial of fusing completely with the pathway of undying and becoming the high god of the pathway.

They went in with high expectations for the trial and were not disappointed. This was because the trial went about the same way as the trial of the pathway of telepathy.

They defeated their opponent without fighting and were brought to a dark abyss where the original creator of the pathway was residing. So their victory was both easy and straightforward.

In this dark abyss, they found an incomplete white diamond rhino at the bottom, chained with three colored chains. The white diamond rhino only had its head. The rest of its body was only the bones of its skeleton.

This sight made Legion-4 say in amusement, “This reminds me of a couple of folks that only had a head in the void universe.”

He was amused by the thought, but Legion-6 took what he said seriously and asked the others, “Do you think the watchers and the guardian of the void universe are like the original creators of pathways who have been cut into pieces and stripped of their power?”

Legion-8 replied, “There is no way to know now. But we can find out if we return to the void universe and ask them.”

While they were chatting with each other, the crippled armored white rhino was begging them to kill it. It too had mistaken them for the person who put it in this sorry state.

Nothing they could say could convince the armored rhino otherwise. And it seemed incapable of saying anything other than begging them to kill it. Legion had a suspicion that its mind might have cracked.

At the end of the day, the armored white rhino was crushed into a ball of energy and power by the chains binding it. So it got its wish of being killed.

The ball of energy and power bound by the three colored chains flew into Legion’s body. Then they began to ascend from the abyss.

As they were rising up, Legion-2 said with conviction, “There has to be something wrong going on. The authority of the pathway and the divine flesh of the pathway all think that we are the original creator of the pathway, while the original creator of the pathway thinks we are the ones who split it apart into pieces and imprisoned it.”

“They can’t be both right. Because if they are both right, then we cut out pieces of ourselves that we imprisoned and mutilated so that we can create the divine flesh as sources of power for a pathway.”

Legion-3 chuckled and said, “If they are both right, it could also be that since we were the ones who imprisoned the original creators of the pathway and cut them into pieces of divine flesh, we the ones that actually created the pathway, while the ones that were imprisoned and cut apart are actually just raw materials for us to create the pathway.”

His words made Legion-5 nod in agreement and say, “That can work too. Maybe the creator that the authorities of the pathway recognize is not the same as the raw material that was used to create the pathway. So the two sides might actually be right to think that we are both the creators of the pathways and the ones that imprisoned the original creators of the pathway.”

Their words made Legion-2 sigh in exasperation and said, “The difference between the creator of the pathway and the raw material used to create the pathway doesn’t matter because we aren’t either one and can’t be either.”

“We didn’t imprison the original creators of the pathway, and we didn’t cut them into pieces to create pathways. The Lord of Madness was the one who did these things. So the two of them have to be wrong.”

Legion-7 urged Legion-2 to reconsider by saying, “Now hold on a minute. Don’t be so quick to be certain. At this point, we know time travel is possible. So what if we went into the past to do all of these atone point in the future, which is why our current selves don’t know it happened?”

Legion-12 heard these words and scoffed as he said, “I have to agree with Legion-2 on this because if you’re right, then it would mean that we are either the Lord of Madness or that the Lord of Madness wasn’t the one who did all of these.”

Legion-10 interjected before they could argue, saying, “I hope you haven’t forgotten that the Lord of Madness is dead, so the person who did this is that Absolute. Therefore, if we are the ones who did this, then we have to be the Absolute up top.”

These words silenced everyone. They became silent because they had a lot to think about.

Eventually, Legion-8 said, “This could work. I believe that an Absolute can go into the past and do something like this. Since we are trying to become Absolutes ourselves, it is not unreasonable to think that we managed to become Absolutes and did this.”

Some of the clones agreed with him, but Legion-2 still shook his head and said, “It still doesn’t make sense. How can an Absolute do something and make it look like the Lord of Madness did it, yet some authorities and some raw materials for creating pathways were able to recognize that it was we who did it?”

This time, Legion-1 was the one who spoke up to reply. He said, “We already know that the Lord of Madness is dead, so he might not be the one who did this personally. It should be someone else who did it.”

“If he is the one who did it personally, yet these things think we are the ones that did it, then we must have something in common with the Lord of Madness that makes them think we are the Lord of Madness.”
