Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 110: Do you swing both ways?

Chapter 110: Do you swing both ways?
“You smell like another woman.”
Elion stopped mid-step, then let out a quiet chuckle as he raised a hand to his head, rubbing his temple as if already resigned.
He didn’t confirm it, and he didn’t deny it either. He simply smiled in a way that made Aria’s eyes narrow just a little more.
He hadn’t cared to clean himself up other than changing into training clothes after fucking with Beatrice.
“That so?” he said, his tone relaxed.
Aria crossed her arms, clearly unconvinced, but she didn’t press the issue further. Instead, she just watched him closely. There was no anger in her expression, just a possessive, predatory look that she didn’t bother hiding.
Honestly, Elion found it amusing.
Having a cute, possessive girlfriend was funny in its own way, especially when she acted so serious about it. The situation became even more ridiculous when he remembered that his other girlfriend was standing right beside her.
He could see that they were trying to get along despite their own shortcomings, which was honestly wholesome. If anything, that made it harder for him not to smile.
He shook his head lightly and continued walking, feeling a strange sense of ease settle over him. He didn’t really need to always be around them, especially since they were standing around with the other girls.
It was just that they usually made a point to stay with him whenever he was around, so they were probably tired of him now.
Yeah, definitely not.
“The usual!” Selene snapped, clapping her hands. “But you’re all running twice the distance today!”
Groans followed, but they were fewer than usual despite the increase in intensity. Everyone understood why she was pushing them harder now, and more than that, there was an eagerness in the air. The announcement of the tournament had lit a fire under all of them, even though they all knew they didn’t stand a chance at those spots.
They started running the track, their feet pounding against the dirt in a steady rhythm. The enthusiasm lasted for a few dozen rounds before reality set in. Breathing grew ragged, sweat soaked through clothes, and faces tightened with strain.
Courage was one thing, but this challenge was brutal, and most of them realized it far sooner than they wanted to admit.
As expected, the usual standouts were still breathing evenly. Elion and Tessa ran at the front, their pace steady, looking almost relaxed compared to everyone else.
Then Elion drifted slightly to the side, matching Tessa’s pace.
“Didn’t expect you to still look this comfortable this far in the warmup,” Elion said.
Tessa smiled, not even glancing at him. “Same to you. You’re not showing any signs of exhaustion.”
“I could say the same. And considering that you’ve been pushing yourself lately, I assumed you would be tired by now.”
“You noticed?” she asked, a hint of pride slipping into her voice.
“Hard not to. Your mana control’s cleaner too.”
“That’s because I stopped focusing on just my martial arts and actually started trying to improve my level. Turns out fundamentals actually matter,” she said dryly.
Elion chuckled. “Eveline would love hearing that. Selene, though, maybe not so much.”
“Yeah, she’d probably smack me too,” Tessa replied. “So… training together later?”
“As usual?” Elion asked.
“As usual,” she confirmed. “Sparring, not holding back.”
“I wouldn’t insult you like that,” he said.
“Good,” Tessa replied. “I want to see how big the gap really is now. You better not get beaten by someone weaker than you.”
“Delusional much?” Elion teased.
“You mean confident,” she corrected. “There’s a difference.”
A brief silence passed as they kept running, their footsteps perfectly in sync.
“So,” Tessa said, “the legacy world.”
Elion’s eyes sharpened slightly. “Yeah. That.”
“You planning to go all out in the tournament?” she asked.
“I don’t really have a choice,” he replied. “Neither do you.”
She nodded. “True. If we do make it through the tournament, which is pretty much a guarantee. It might be a good idea to team up.”
Elion glanced at her and feigned shock. “The great Tessa Crimson asking to partner with a peasant like me!?”
“Please,” she laughed. “You’re strong, you’re calm under pressure, and you don’t do stupid things for pride. Like some people.”
“That last one feels targeted at someone.”
“It is,” she said without hesitation. Though she didn’t make a point to look back at the target of her targeted jeer.
He laughed. “I’ll take it as a compliment then.”
“So?” Tessa pressed. “Team up with me?”
“I was already thinking the same thing,” Elion said. “Two is better than one in a place like that, or three. Or four,” he added slowly with a smirk.
“What, are you looking to build a team of women for your potential harem. Or are you not aware that the fourth person will probably be William? Confident in your women, or do you have something else in mind?”
Elion could only shake his head as Tessa went through a wild scenario, though her thoughts somehow hit home. He wouldn’t be spending so much time around Tessa if he weren’t interested in her.
Initially, he had to use his succubus abilities to charm Aria and Mira, but now that he didn’t feel like he was in a hurry to accumulate system points, he felt that there was no need to use the same methods with Tessa and Isolde.
Which is why he was putting in the effort to get to know them. He didn’t feel bad about how he handled Mira, far from it. In fact, it would take quite some convincing for him to fully believe that she was actually devoted to him, and even more time to gain his trust.
But he wasn’t too worried about it because of the Harem System’s death penalty.
I should probably tell them about it. He thought. It would be too cruel if they cheated on him, only to die, without even knowing how they died.
Meanwhile, Tessa continued with her conspiracies.
“Or….haaaa!” She made a shocked look as she covered her mouth with her palm. “Wait… Elion?” she asked.
“What?”
“Do you swing both ways?” Elion’s expression darkened as he understood her meaning.
He had casually suggested building a team around all four spots. But how had she come to the conclusion that he wanted anything to do with William!? Even if he wanted William in that team, how did that equate to him being gay!?
“Fuck you, Tessa!”
Tessa laughed heartily, absolutely loving his reaction.
“It will probably be just you, me, and Isolde. If she agrees,” Elion corrected her. Tessa wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Alright, I’m fine with that. Sounds like a plan. But you trust me that much?” she asked.
“I’ve sparred with you enough times to know you won’t stab me in the back,” he replied. “That’s rare.”
Tessa smiled a little wider. “Good. Because I don’t plan to slow you down.”
“Wouldn’t expect you to,” Elion said. “If anything, I’ll have to keep up with you.”
“Hah. Now that’s funny,” she said. “But I’ll remember you said that.”
They ran quietly for a while before Tessa started another unusual conversation.
