Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 113: Dungeon Dive

Chapter 113: Dungeon Dive
Elion kept his expression calm as he walked, but his thoughts were anything but. He had successfully advanced into the Adept Mage realm.
Of course, the moment the breakthrough was completed, he had immediately looked at his status with a lot of anticipation. And of course, it did not disappoint.
He had already looked at it multiple times already, but he kept going back to look at it again. Who would blame him? The changes were just jarring.

Elion stared at the status screen for several seconds before letting out a slow breath. Of course, he was poor again. After spending what little he had left to push himself into level thirty-one, his system points had dropped to a pathetic number. Two hundred and seventy-nine points barely even counted as savings anymore.
What annoyed him far more, however, was the experience requirement.
Three thousand one hundred experience points.
He clenched his jaw as he did the math in his head. Just two levels earlier, advancing from twenty-nine to thirty had only required two hundred and ninety experience points. Now the requirement had exploded more than tenfold in a single jump. The system was no longer scaling evenly. It was rising exponentially.
What the hell is this!? He thought grimly.
Now he finally understood what Eveline had meant when she said that the higher one climbed, the more difficult advancement became. If the level progression followed any form of consistency, then reaching the later Advanced levels(Levels 40-49) would easily require forty thousand experience points per level. And that was only the Advanced stage.
High Mage. Arch Mage. Grand Mage… And that was not even the end of it. He didn’t even want to think of the higher ranks.
Just imagining the numbers made his head throb.
Without a system like his, advancement at those stages would be borderline impossible. No wonder powerful mages were so rare. No wonder most people stagnated for decades or died long before reaching those heights.
Reaching Adept Mage had changed something fundamental inside him, not just in raw power, but in how stable and solid his mana felt. Before, his energy had always been eager, restless, like water about to boil over.
Now it sat heavy and controlled in his core, dense and obedient, responding to his intent without resistance. It was the kind of foundation that made future growth possible, even if the absurd experience requirements threatened to crush his motivation before he even started.
The realization had sobered him a little. Power was not something you rushed forever. At some point, effort alone stopped being enough. He finally understood why high-ranking mages were treated like living legends rather than common warriors. Reaching those heights was not just about talent, but time, resources, and surviving long enough to get there.
Still, Elion had advantages others did not.
His stats had once again grown to unreasonable levels. Not only were they higher, but they were also far more detailed now, accurately reflecting his actual physical and mental capabilities rather than being vague general values. That was the real reason he had been able to crush William despite the level difference.
Some stats, like charm and perception, had a base value and a capped maximum when boosted by skills. If he fully activated Irresistible Charm, his charm stat would skyrocket to ten thousand. Even he knew that was excessive.
His absurd stamina and vitality were thanks to the half-incubus racial buff he had gained that time, a benefit that continued to show its value the more his body evolved.
All in all, his status looked… impressive.
He smiled faintly to himself as he walked.
Their entire class was currently making their way along a familiar stone pathway toward the dungeon entrance. The scenery stirred a strange sense of déjà vu within him. This was, after all, near the very place where he had almost died, and then he first received the system. Despite that, he felt calm rather than uneasy.
Today’s dungeon expedition was different.
Selene, Eveline, and George were all present, which alone spoke volumes. This wasn’t a routine training run. It was a serious operation, and after everything that had happened in recent months, the academy clearly wasn’t taking chances anymore.
They were probably being cautious; either they feared William would look for an opportunity to get rid of the stain that was Elion, or they thought Elion would be the one doing the killing. Honestly, both could be true depending on the situation.
Elion walked near the back of the group, Aria clinging to his arm without the slightest hint of embarrassment. Mira was further ahead, chatting with some friends from another group. Elion’s gaze briefly drifted forward, where he noticed Isolde glancing back at him more than once.
She clearly wanted to say something.
But each time her eyes flicked toward Aria, she hesitated.
Elion sighed quietly. He only hoped that whatever it was she wanted to say, it could wait.
They soon arrived at the dungeon entrance, the massive stone archway looming over them like the open mouth of some ancient beast.
Unlike last time, a different pair of guards was stationed there, both wearing reinforced armor. Their expressions were sharp and professional as they watched the approaching group.
Selene stepped forward first, exchanging a few quiet words with them while Eveline presented the necessary clearance. George stood slightly behind, arms crossed, his gaze sweeping over the surroundings as if checking for anything out of place.
The guards listened attentively, nodding once or twice as they glanced at the assembled students.
After a brief discussion, one of the guards stepped aside and made a hand signal. The other moved to the side as well, allowing the wide entrance to fully open before them. “You’re cleared to enter,” he said firmly, his eyes lingering for a moment on the professors. “Standard protocols apply. If anything goes wrong, retreat immediately and signal.”
With that, the path ahead was opened.
The air beyond the entrance felt cooler and heavier, carrying the familiar scent of damp stone and lingering mana. One by one, the students began to file inside, their earlier chatter fading into a tense, excited silence as the darkness of the dungeon swallowed them whole once again.
