Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 145: Bloodline Awakening

Chapter 145: Bloodline Awakening
Behind the steam, Celeste’s breathing sounded uneven. The water continued to bubble around her, some small bursts breaking the surface as heat radiated outward.
The air in the room felt thick and heavy, and almost suffocating.
“Celeste…” Liora said carefully, lowering her arms slightly but keeping herself positioned in front of Elion. “Why is the bath boiling?”
Celeste’s lips parted slightly, and a faint tremor ran through her shoulders.
“I… can’t control it…” she said softly.
The water bubbled harder. Elion’s frown deepened. Celeste didn’t even look embarrassed despite his presence.
It was like she was not completely aware of her surroundings. Clearly, there was a problem. Not a simple one either.
Just as Elion was about to step forward, a sharp notification flashed across his mind.
[Warning]
His eyes sharpened instantly.
Another line appeared below that one.
[Bloodline Awakening Detected]
The air in the room seemed to grow heavier.
Elion’s gaze locked onto Celeste, who was still submerged in the violently bubbling water, while her small frame was trembling slightly.
A third line appeared on the system interface.
[System suspects this is a bloodline awakening: From True Vampire Bloodline→ Ancestor Vampire Bloodline.]
Elion’s pupils contracted dangerously.
Ancestor Vampire?
His mind immediately recalled the store listing.
An Ancestor Vampire Bloodline was one of the ridiculously priced bloodlines! — 200,000,000 points.
His heart skipped once. So that kind of bloodline could awaken naturally?
He stood still for a moment, staring at the boiling bath and the trembling vampire girl inside it.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
Was this a coincidence?
Just minutes ago, he had been scrolling through bloodlines, calculating costs, and realizing just how far away he was from raising his ceiling. He had been frustrated, almost mocking the absurdity of it all.
And now?
He had stumbled directly into a live awakening.
Wasn’t this too convenient?
His thoughts sharpened.
Is this what they call fate?
Or was the system nudging him somewhere?
The warning still hovered faintly in his mind.
He didn’t believe in coincidences.
Not anymore.
Ever since the system integrated into him, events had a strange way of aligning just when he needed something—or just when things were about to spiral out of control.
The water surged violently again.
Celeste gasped, her fingers digging into the stone edge of the bath. The air felt thick and heavy with heat and something darker—ancient, and predatory.
Liora glanced between Elion and Celeste, clearly unsettled.
“Hey! You’re just standing there staring?” she muttered nervously. “Do something! Make yourself useful. That’s why I brought you here!”
Elion suddenly felt like knocking Liora’s head. His lips twitched. She still dared to command him like that, after dragging him here with no explanation and throwing him in this situation!
Elion let out a slow breath.
Whether it was fate or manipulation didn’t matter right now.
What mattered was that an Ancestor-level bloodline awakening was happening in front of him. His assistance was needed.
Hell, he had no idea if there was anything he could do about the situation, but he was supposed to be the knight in shining armour here.
He couldn’t say no now, could he?
A beauty in need is a beauty indeed.
His gaze softened.
Convenient or not… this was an opportunity. The perfect opportunity to help a beauty and leave her in his debt.
And he had never been the type to waste those. Well, the current him at least.
The water behind Liora surged again, the large bubbles rising to the surface and bursting violently. The steam thickened, and the temperature rose further.
Celeste let out a strained breath, her fingers gripping the edge of the bath as faint dark veins flickered beneath her pale skin. Her crimson eyes glowed faintly through the haze.
“I… told you not to come back…” she whispered weakly.
Liora turned fully now, panic replacing her earlier embarrassment.
“What? You thought I’d just leave a friend have a dangerous awakening alone?” she demanded.
Elion stepped around her slowly, ignoring her attempt to shield him this time.
“So you have an idea of what is going on?” he said calmly, though his voice carried weight. “That her bloodline is evolving.”
Liora froze.
“What? How did you know that?”
The system notification remained in his vision.
[Awakening phase unstable. Host interference may alter the outcome.]
Elion’s expression darkened slightly.
Unstable. That word was not comforting.
Celeste’s breathing grew more erratic. The water roiled violently now, splashing against the edges of the bath. The stone tiles beneath their feet began to crack faintly from the heat.
Her fangs elongated slightly as she clenched her jaw. A low, strained sound escaped her throat.
“I can’t…” she whispered.
Elion exhaled slowly.
So this was the “situation” Liora spoke of huh?
Elion stepped forward just as Celeste’s eyes began to lose focus.
Her trembling intensified. The boiling water surged violently, splashing over the stone edges and onto the floor. A wave struck his chest, soaking the front of his uniform, but he barely noticed.
His eyes were focused on catching the faint glimpses of her small breasts as the water splashed about.
Then—
A blinding flash of crimson-white radiance erupted from her body.
The steam was blown back in a violent burst, and Celeste rose from the bath as if lifted by unseen hands.
The light wrapped around her petite frame instinctively, as if shielding her decency from view like a veil made of radiance.
Elion and Liora could only stare in alarm.
Through the radiance, Elion saw the outline of her small, elegant figure suspended in the air. The proportions of her assets were clearly shaped for him to see, though the details were hidden beneath the radiant glow.
For a fleeting, disappointed second, he wished the light had been slightly less modest. But that thought didn’t last long.
Celeste’s red eyes flared open. They were no longer soft crimson. They burned like twin scarlet suns.
The light around her body dimmed slightly, and her gaze locked onto him.
There was no recognition in those eyes.
Only hunger.
“Elion—!” Liora began.
Celeste vanished.
Too fast!
Elion’s perception barely caught the movement. His eyes could track the blur, but his body lagged behind. By the time he tried to turn, she was already behind him.
Her slender legs wrapped tightly around his waist.
