Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 160: Two Months Later

Chapter 160: Two Months Later
[Congratulations, host, for making it into the Advanced Mage rank!]
The voice of the system rang clearly in his mind.
Elion was on one knee in the training room, breathing heavily. His chest rose and fell fast, and sweat dripped down his face. His whole body ached, and his mana still felt unstable inside him, like it had just been forced into a tighter space.
“Thank you, system,” he said with a small smile.
Even though the pain was still there, he was grinning like a madman. The breakthrough had not been easy. His muscles had tightened, his bones had felt like they were cracking, and his mana core had expanded and compressed painfully.
But he had done it.
Advanced Mage.
That single step meant a big jump in power and control. His mana felt deeper now, and heavier, but also smoother when it moved through his body. Like, there was less resistance.
[As a gift for the progress the host has made, the system has unlocked two additional functionalities!]
Elion’s grin widened. Was he about to get another divine skill or an item?
“Oh?” he said quietly.
He slowly stood up, ignoring the soreness in his legs.
“What kind of functionalities?”
A faint light appeared in his vision as new panels began to form.
Elion wiped the sweat from his face and steadied his breathing.
“Please don’t tell me it’s something useless,” he muttered.
[I’m certain they will serve the host well.]
The system’s tone stayed calm as always.
[The first function is the store currency converter. Here you can trade system points for real-world money, or mana stones if you prefer.]
Elion’s eyes widened slightly.
Then he started grinning.
“So I don’t have to worry about money anymore,” he muttered.
That alone was huge. No more wracking his mind over an empty wallet. He could turn points into gold whenever he needed. At least he hoped so.
“I want to see the exchange rate,” he said quickly.
If the rate was good, he would never be short on money and resources again.
But there was still a second function to look into.
[The second functionality is a system storage space that is 100 by 100 metres in size.]
Elion blinked.
“Huh?”
He had expected something strong.
Maybe a combat function. Maybe a power boost.
But a storage space?
Then the meaning settled in.
His eyes widened slowly.
To put things into perspective, storage rings were extremely rare. They were some of the most expensive items in the entire kingdom. Making one required a skilled craftsman who could touch upon the laws of space, even if only a little.
Such people were hard to find.
Among the students he knew, only William, Evander, Celeste, and Liora had storage rings. And even those were basic ones.
They were at most two square metres.
That was it.
And a ring like that would cost at least ten thousand gold coins.
Most mages would not earn that much in ten years!
Elion swallowed.
He now had a storage space that was one hundred by one hundred metres. That was not just large.
That was insane!
A crazy thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
He held his breath slightly in anticipation.
“Can this storage space store living things?” he asked carefully.
There was a short pause.
[What? No. Don’t be ridiculous, host.]
Elion let out a quiet sigh.
“A man can dream,” he muttered.
He was a little disappointed.
But even without that, this was far more than he had expected.
A massive private storage space.
And unlimited access to money if needed.
He slowly leaned back against the wall of the training room as he caught his breath, feeling mildly ecstatic along with the changes to his body.
It felt kind of surreal to think he had made it this far, from the powerless young man he had been just a few months ago, drowning in self-pity and despair.
From near death, to getting the system and setting his goals.
Was it all a stroke of luck? Maybe. He probably would have died if not for this Goddess of Lust, who had taken pity on him.
He still remembered vividly, like it was yesterday, when he had asked for a swift death as he was in unbearable pain that time, slowly bleeding to the afterlife.
And yet, there is still so much yet to be done. He thought, breathing deeply.
His eyes sharpened dangerously as he thought of William. A subtle strand of killing intent escaped from him. The guy had gone completely under the radar lately.
So much so that Elion rarely thought of him. But that didn’t mean that he had forgotten; it just felt stupid for him to obsess on someone who seemed so much weaker compared to himself now.
But make no mistake, he had not forgotten, the debt would be paid in full in due time. Elion leaned on his sword and slowly pushed himself to his feet.
His body still felt heavy from the breakthrough, but he was already recovering, so he forced himself to stand straight. He took a deep breath and called out calmly.
“Status.”
A familiar panel unfolded before his eyes.

Elion grimaced when his eyes landed on one number.
Level 40.0 out of 40,000 XP.
“Forty thousand,” he muttered.
His worst fear had officially come true. The XP for each realm was increasing exponentially. From here on, every level would demand serious effort. At least he still has a substantial amount, but not for long.
The tournament was coming up, and then the Legacy world, it was finally time to spend on equipment and items.
His stats had gone up substantially since he had jumped into the next rank, while, curiously enough, the likes of vitality and stamina had not gone up at all.
Well, that, and his birthday had come and gone at some point in time. He didn’t care much to celebrate, and he never cared to tell anyone, so it passed by just like another day.
He preferred it that way. He let out a slow breath.
Still, the past two months had not been wasted.
The thing he was most proud of was advancing his sword mastery from the Refined stage to the Advanced stage. That alone had been brutal training. But it had paid off.
The constant sword practice had helped him gradually improve upon his strength stat. He had also gained three new sword skills.
[Mountain Splitting Slash]
[Phantom Blade]
[Starfall Requiem – Lv1]
[Mountain Splitting Slash] did not actually split mountains. The name was exaggerated.
He had tested it against stone walls in the training grounds, and while it didn’t completely shatter them, the force behind the strike was frightening enough to create a web of cracks from one strike.
It felt like the skill multiplied his strength by two when activated.
Maybe it scaled with his body. Maybe it grew stronger as he did. Meaning once he was strong enough, splitting mountains might actually be a possibility. That was his guess.
How cool would that be? What he knew for sure was that it was extremely hard to block cleanly without taking considerable damage.
Then there was [Phantom Blade].
That skill allowed him to move so fast that his sword left afterimages in the air. An opponent would struggle to track the real strike among the false trails. Even he had been surprised by how deceptive it felt, and he was the one executing it.
And then there was [Starfall Requiem].
He still did not know how to properly describe it.
It was not a single attack. And it was not just raw speed or power. It was a flowing chain of flurry strikes linked together in a pattern that felt like a dance.
A deadly dance.
When he practiced it alone, he sometimes felt bad for whoever would have to defend against it one day.
He had not tested these skills seriously against another strong opponent yet. Maybe Tessa would be decent practice.
Today, he had chosen not to go to the dungeon with the girls. They were capable enough now, and they had improved a lot on their own levels. But if he fought Tessa seriously now, even while holding back, she probably would not last five strikes.
That was him being generous.
He rested his sword over his shoulder.
Apart from the status changes, he could feel that he had grown a little bit taller, and his body felt more solid.
“What’s my current height, system?” He asked.
[Host’s current height stands at 6’1″ after recent changes]
Elion nodded in satisfaction. He had expected as much. He only hoped that he didn’t continue growing taller indefinitely lest he become a giant.
And now, people would definitely notice his change in height. In fact, there were a few people who would notice any minuscule change in him now, considering how they now knew his body and build in and out.
Maybe I can blame it on a sudden growth spurt, or on the training regime I’ve been on.
That, or he could just laugh it off.
“System,” he called out again. “Show me the advanced rank spells in the store for each of my elements.”
[Sure.]
A new panel unfolded before him.
Unlike sword mastery, advancing his mage core did not come with free spells. If he wanted stronger magic, he had to buy it or discover it.
The spell section of the system store opened slowly in front of his eyes.
Rows and rows of adept and advanced rank spells began to appear.
Elion’s eyes sharpened.
Now this was interesting.
