Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 192: Alexander Starhaven

Chapter 192: Alexander Starhaven
Meanwhile, to the south of the Veloria Kingdom, east of the flying academy, lay Haven, the capital city of the kingdom.
Inside the royal castle where the Starhaven royal family resided, a handsome middle-aged man stood on a balcony overlooking the great city below.
Over the horizon, the vast southern ocean overlooked the great city of Haven, and the dark waters looked incredibly beautiful at night, the moon’s translucent glow reflecting over the surface.
The man’s blonde hair shone in the moonlight, and his sharp jawline was partly hidden by a short black-blonde beard. He wore only a pair of loose underpants and a light robe hanging open over his broad shoulders.
His body was powerful and well-built, covered in old scars earned in battle.
The most noticeable one was a long sword wound that stretched from his shoulder all the way down to his hip.
In his hand, he held a pipe.
Slowly, he puffed smoke into the air while gazing over the sprawling city that he ruled over.
Two slender arms suddenly wrapped around him from behind, sliding across his firm stomach.
“My king,” a smooth woman’s voice whispered as she pressed her exposed breasts closer to his back.
He did not answer. He simply ignored her.
Yet the woman showed no sign of displeasure. Even though he had just shared his bed with her moments ago, Nyxara knew her place.
To him, she was nothing more than a convenient bedwardmer when the queen was away.
But to most people in the kingdom, she was far more than that.
Nyxara was one of the kingdom’s greatest mages—an esteemed court magician and a peak Grand Mage, one of the strongest magic users in Veloria. She specialized in fire magic, feared and respected across the kingdom.
And yet here she was, quietly embracing her king on a balcony in the royal bedroom.
She wore a thin, loose negligee that barely covered her body, with nothing underneath to cover her intimate places.
Her cunt was bare for any eyes fortunate enough to gaze up here to see, and her breasts were also out in the open.
When she had first come to the castle years ago to serve as a court magician, she had never imagined something like this would happen.
The first time she saw Alexander Starhaven, the 109th King of Veloria and one of the few Saint-rank mages in the world, she had been stunned.
He was powerful, charismatic, and carried the presence of someone born to rule. But she never believed she had any chance of getting close to him.
Especially not when Queen Persephone existed.
Persephone was widely considered the most beautiful woman in the kingdom, graceful and intelligent, and Nyxara had actually grown close to her over the years.
Through Persephone, she became acquainted with the king.
At first, it was simple greetings whenever she visited the queen. Then, small invitations to attend important meetings.
Then tea sessions with just the king and queen. Slowly, over time, things changed.
Without realizing it, Nyxara found that she was no longer visiting the castle just to see her friend.
She was coming because she wanted to see him.
And somehow, it seemed he had noticed her as well.
One evening, what began as a simple conversation in his study had turned into a deep, passionate kiss.
After that… everything escalated quickly. Clothes were quickly removed, and then, he was inside her, fucking her pussy like the man he was, making her feel passion she had never felt before.
That had been a year ago.
Since then, Nyxara had quietly visited his chambers whenever Persephone was away. Did she feel guilty?
Maybe a little. She felt like she had betrayed her friend’s trust.
But powerful men often had many women. In her mind, it was only a matter of time before King Alexander openly took concubines.
Yet strangely, Alexander was known as one of the rare kings of Veloria who had only one wife.
He had never taken concubines. Nyxara did not understand why.
Still, she held on to a small hope that someday their relationship might become public. To her, someone as powerful as him was bound to have many women, and she would be proud to be one of them.
Alexander’s personal guards likely knew by now anyway. She no longer bothered hiding her visits as carefully as she once had.
But one thought still worried her more than anything else.
How would Persephone react when she eventually found out?
Nyxara didn’t want to lose her friend.
Even if that hope was selfish… she wished Persephone would somehow understand. A part of her even foolishly imagined that Persephone might accept it with open arms.
Sharing the man she loved with a close friend. She could definitely see herself accepting such a thing if she were in Persephone’s shoes.
But things were never so simple.
After all, she had seduced her friend’s husband behind her back.
Nyxara sighed quietly and breathed in deeply, catching the faint musky scent of the king.
Then she rested her head gently against his broad back as they both looked out over the great city of Haven.
“Something weighing on your mind, Nyxara?” Alexander asked calmly, letting out another slow puff of smoke from his pipe.
“Nothing important, my lord,” she replied with a small smile.
“I see,” he said simply.
He didn’t question her further, nor did he seem interested in pressing the matter. His eyes remained fixed on the distant city while the smoke drifted into the night air.
They stood in silence for a while.
Then Alexander suddenly spoke again.
“Do you know why I’ve been allowing you into my bed all this time?” he asked. “Why I even bothered making an effort to grow close to you?”
Nyxara blinked in surprise. She slowly shook her head.
The sudden bluntness of the question caught her completely off guard.
Alexander continued without hesitation.
“I need an heir, Nyxara.”
He said it calmly, as though he were discussing something ordinary.
Nyxara’s eyes trembled slightly as the meaning sank in.
Of course.
Alexander and Queen Persephone had been married for more than two centuries, yet they had only ever had daughters.
Three daughters.
And in Veloria’s tradition, the throne could not pass to a woman.
Which meant the king had no heir.
Alexander lowered his pipe and finally turned toward her. With one firm motion, he gently moved her so she stood in front of him.
“Now tell me,” he said, his gaze steady. “Why are you not with child yet?”
Nyxara froze.
“Surely you are not barren,” he continued. “And I know for certain that I am not impotent.”
His tone remained calm, but his words carried weight.
“You are weaker than Persephone,” he added matter-of-factly, “but that is exactly why I chose you, because that should only make it easier for my bloodline to take root inside you. You are neither too strong nor too weak; you are the perfect option.”
He studied her face carefully.
“So tell me, Nyxara… why have you not conceived, after a whole year of taking my seed?”
Nyxara’s heart nearly stopped.
“I… I—”
Her words faltered.
How could she say it?
How could she tell him that she had taken precautions to prevent exactly that from happening?
She had feared the consequences.
If such a scandal were discovered. If it became known that the great King Alexander had fathered a child with one of his court magicians, it could shake the entire court.
How was she supposed to know that he actually wanted her to bear his child!? How was she supposed to know that each time he came inside of her, it had been on purpose!
“I… I’m sorry!” she finally blurted out.
Her voice trembled.
“I didn’t know that was your intention. I… took precautions to make sure it wouldn’t happen.”
Alexander stared at her. His face showed no emotion.
For several long seconds, he said nothing.
Smack!
A sharp crack echoed through the room as Alexander’s hand struck Nyxara across the face. His hand moved so quickly that she could not even see it.
The force sent her flying backward into the bedroom. She crashed onto the floor and slid several feet before coming to a stop.
“Huh…?”
The tears came before she could stop them.
If she could have seen her face in that moment, she might have broken down completely into a wail.
The left side of her face, where the blow had landed, was badly torn. The skin there had split open, and blood dripped steadily onto the polished floor.
Then the pain finally hit her.
Her lips trembled as she tried to breathe through it. Even they were bleeding.
Alexander stepped calmly into the royal bedroom. He placed his pipe down on an extravagant table before walking toward her without any sign of urgency.
Nyxara had managed to prop herself up with one hand, but she was still mostly lying on the ground.
Alexander crouched down in front of her.
He gently brushed his fingers over the wound on her face, examining it closely. A slight grimace crossed his features as he looked at the damage.
“Don’t worry,” he said calmly. “I made sure to use only enough strength that you could handle. Healing this should be easy.”
He paused, his tone softening.
“But before I heal you,” he continued gently, “promise me you won’t do something so foolish again without asking me first.”
He smiled kindly while saying it.
Anyone watching might have thought he had nothing to do with the injury at all.
Nyxara nodded quickly. Fear filled her eyes as quiet sobs escaped her bleeding lips.
’He’s a demon,’ she thought. ’What have I gotten myself into?’
Soon, a warm and soothing sensation spread across the wound on her face. The torn flesh slowly began to close as his magic worked on it.
But the healing stopped before the injury completely vanished.
“I don’t think I need to tell you,” Alexander said calmly while brushing her cheek, “that there is no escaping from me now.”
“This is your new life now.”
“Yes… my lord,” Nyxara whispered in fear. Her voice trembled as she nodded again.
Alexander looked satisfied. “Good.”
“I healed most of the damage for you,” he continued, “but not all of it. The rest will remain for a while.”
“This should remind you what happens when you act without thinking… and without my permission.”
Nyxara nodded again, quickly.
“And don’t even think about healing it yourself,” he added.
He stood up slowly.
“And if anyone asks about it,” he said casually, “I’m sure you can come up with an explanation.”
He glanced down at her.
“You might be useless, but you can at least manage this much.”
It felt like her heart was shattering into a million pieces.
