Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 240: Objects

Chapter 240: Objects
{[Status]}
[Name: Cain]
[Race: Human]
[Age: 32]
[Rank: Level 49 – Advanced Mage]
The man was also really strong, but this guy, Elion was confident he could handle.
He might be a peak advanced mage, while Elion was only somewhere around the middle, but his stats were definitely much higher.
Before he could read more into it…
“If you will excuse us,” the woman said calmly, stepping around Elion and Mira with a graceful sidestep that brushed her hip against his thigh. The man followed suit, his glare boring into Elion like daggers as they passed.
“Oh,” the woman seemed to have a thought as she added, glancing back over her shoulder with a knowing tilt of her head, “if you ever find yourself in need of allies, Haven City is a good place to start.”
That was all she offered before vanishing into the crowd with her disguised husband, who followed her like a shadow, though there was a question of whether the pair even had that kind of relationship now.
Elion’s thoughts subconsciously gravitated toward the thought of what she really looked like under that disguise.
It made him wonder if he could somehow use discerning eye to peel off that disguise.
[Discerning eye is not at that level yet]
’Of course.’
“What a weird pair,” Elion muttered under his breath, shaking off the encounter.
Something deep in his gut told him this encounter was no mere coincidence; of course, the disguises screamed ulterior motives.
His first guess pegged them as hidden experts from some shadowy organization or faction, testing the waters to recruit him discreetly after his standout performance in the tournament.
It was just bad luck for them that he had the system and discerning eye to pierce right through their facade, if only in part.
If someone was trying to goad him or lure him into schemes or alliances because of the skills he had shown, they’d be disappointed.
He had zero reason to head to Haven City now, or anytime soon. As far as he was concerned, the majority of the next decade of his life would be spent right here at the academy, training, growing stronger, and indulging in whatever pleasures came with it.
He led Mira around a few sharp corners. A few streets later, they emerged onto the brightly lit and smoothly paved pathway that ascended toward the academy’s glowing spires.
Torches lined the stone steps, casting a warm, flickering light that danced over them.
The pathway stretched ahead.
Since there was no curfew for the foreseeable future, there were a few students chatting in clusters, and the occasional guard patrolling with a nod.
Elion’s hand slipped into Mira’s waist once again as she leaned into him.
…
Meanwhile, Vivian and Cain slipped back into the cramped inn they were renting on the outskirts of the city.
They walked into Vivian’s room to talk for a bit, and Cain took this as an opportunity to spend a few private minutes with her, knowing full well that it won’t be long before she chased him away.
The room was dimly lit by a single lantern, casting long shadows over the rumpled bed. Cain tossed his cloak aside, revealing his scarred face and broad, weathered frame.
“Your hint was a little vague, no?” Cain grumbled, sinking onto the edge of the bed with a heavy sigh,
“This is already more than we were asked to do; it’s just that my curiosity got the better of me, so I wanted to see what he is like for myself. I’m kind of disappointed that he is just a typical male though. ” Vivian replied succinctly before adding.
“The master is never wrong, so he should end up with us eventually, remember how he foresaw that our rival branch would lose its up-and-coming young talent.”
“Yes, the sex…Ehem… I mean, the beautiful beastgirl, right?”
“Apparently, she betrayed the org, so they had to get rid of her… If we manage to recruit a new talented youngster, then that means our branch rises to the top.”
“Still though,” Cain added, “I’m going to strangle that little bastard for looking at you like that!” He made a tired, strangling motion with his hands, as if already squeezing Elion’s neck.
“If I hadn’t seen the little pervert fight, I wouldn’t have thought someone so lustful would be so talented. That womanizing bastard, he even did something like that in an alley!”
Vivian laughed, her full lips curved into a smirk as she straightened up. “Look who’s talking. The pot calling the kettle black?”
“That’s right!” Cain shot back, though his glare softened at her teasing.
These two had been trailing Elion and Mira since that steamy little blowjob Mira had given him in the alley near the bakery.
Of course, they could not get close enough to see the details, lest the young man end up catching them, since they did not know how sharp his sense could be. But the vague movements they had seen were more than enough to see what the pair was up to.
“We couldn’t follow them inside the hotel, but it’s obvious what they did for hours in that there after their little tryst in the alley,” Vivian added, “And his type tends to be a little… eccentric. And lustful. And also entitled. His leering at me before proves just that. He must believe since he’s so talented, that every woman should be honored to warm his bed.”
Cain growled, rising to his feet and punching the air quite enthusiastically for someone usually so lazy.
“I won’t let him have you!” The possessiveness in his voice was genuine as his eyes raked over Vivian’s body.
“See?” Vivian commented dryly, arching a brow, “You men are all the same, treating women like objects.”
Cain coughed, caught off guard, “I did not mean it like…” He muttered.
“Come on, get out,” Vivian waved him off, and he was pulled toward the door by some invisible hand.
Another invisible hand turned the handle and opened it, and then he was thrown out into the passage onto his bum.
“Ouch!” Cain massaged his backside, getting up with a light wince. “I know that woman fancies me,” He told himself as he stood on his two feet.
In his eyes, she was just the type that liked to play hard to get. But in the end, she would come running to him once she saw what a great man he was.
She was stronger than him, so he couldn’t be forceful with her, but that was only because she was years her senior.
It was only a matter of time till he caught up to her, especially since her progress had stagnated recently.
And then he could take her as his woman.
…
Meanwhile, earlier that day, back in the Moon family’s balcony in the arena…
Aria had just returned with her parents, with her condition now stable, and the moment she stepped in, the servants who had been present immediately expressed their relief and joy.
Some bowed slightly while others spoke up, glad that the young lady was safe and unharmed.
“Lady Aria, thank the stars you’re safe,” one murmured.
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed from the corridor, and a small, adorable figure burst in.
Aurelia, Aria’s 9-year-old younger sister, returned to the balcony with a pair of servants in tow.
The little girl’s eyes widened like saucers the moment she spotted her sister, her small face lit up with unbridled joy.
“Sister!” Aurelia screamed with happiness, her voice piercing the air like a joyful arrow. Aria got up from her seat just in time to brace herself, arms opening wide.
Aurelia crashed straight into her like a tiny charging beast, her head bumping into Aria’s chest as she wrapped her arms tightly around her.
Aria let out a small oof from the impact.
“I missed you, Aria!” Aurelia said happily. Her voice was filled with pure joy, even though her words were muffled as she nuzzled closer, her small hands clutching at the fabric of Aria’s tunic.
Aria laughed, a genuine, melodic sound that eased the tension in her body, and she knelt down to envelop her sister in a proper hug.
Her hands stroked Aurelia’s back, feeling the rapid flutter of the child’s excited breaths. “I missed you too, Aurelia,” Aria whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of Aurelia’s head.
The parents watched with soft smiles.
Aurelia pulled back just enough to beam up at Aria with an infectious smile on her cute face. Her plump cheeks were a little bit flushed from all the excitement.
“I didn’t get to see you when you came home, but you promised to tell me stories about the academy! Tell me everything! Did you fight monsters? Mother also said I have a brother-in-law now!”
Elvis choked on his own spit as he gave his wife a questioning look that she only returned with a small shrug.
Aria laughed, guiding her sister to sit beside her.
“Soon, Aurelia. Let’s just enjoy being together first.” The balcony’s breeze ruffled their heads of blue hair. Aria’s hair was noticeably longer than before. It had grown past her shoulders, slowly flowing down a bit lower.
