Harem System In A fantasy World - Chapter 250: Trust Me

Chapter 250: Trust Me
“With that being said,” Cain continued, his tone calm and almost reasonable despite everything that had just happened, “I am no brute, though my actions just now may suggest otherwise, so I propose we allow the… demon to speak, if it has anything to say for itself.”
As those words settled into the arena, the crowd, which had already been restless and uncertain, finally tipped over, because the confusion had now been given a direction, and that direction pointed squarely at Elion.
Scattered boos began to rain down, directed at Elion.
They did not believe that an esteemed person such as the Duke would make such claims if they were not true.
“Kill him!”
“Off with his head!”
The noises grew louder until they unified.
And it was very clear who they were directed at.
Elion let out a slow breath, though it came out more like a pained wheeze as his battered body struggled to keep up with even that simple action.
He sighed inwardly because things were truly looking bleak now.
’How did it come to this?’
Of course, all of this was nothing but fabricated nonsense that had been somehow twisted into something believable enough for the masses to latch onto, but there was one inconvenient truth buried beneath it all.
He was not fully human.
He was half human and half lust demon.
’Was I too careless?’ He couldn’t even begin to imagine how they had found out about him being only half-human. Maximus wasn’t able to see it that time; in fact, he had seen something inside Elion that Elion himself didn’t know of.
And he had never considered that it would be this big a deal if it were found out he was half incubus now.
He did not know the full history of demons, not really, only the broad strokes about the war and the sealing of their kind in another world, and he was not privy to what role the succubi and incubi had played in all of that.
Though a faint thought crossed his mind about Esme and Ophelia’s kind being hunted in the past, and whether that had anything to do with all this.
But if that were truly the case, then why were they still allowed to roam freely after the war? Why had they not been completely eradicated and sealed away like the others?
It wasn’t until that church decided to purge them personally that they were finally hunted down. So that meant more or less, succubi and incubi were considered as the less harmless type of demons.
That seemed more likely.
The church, with its obsession with purity, its rigid doctrines, and its tendency to see anything even remotely demonic as something that had to be purged without question.
Another thought surfaced.
’What does this have to do with the goddess…’
He didn’t know. Was she watching him right now?
Probably.
But that didn’t change the situation.
The reality was simple.
He was fucked.
Once they examined him properly, and they looked into his bloodline, and they would find it, and even if they chose to be lenient when they realised he was only half incubus, that was not something he was willing to gamble on, especially not with someone like Cain pushing the narrative.
He wasn’t going to bet his life on something so vague.
He made a decision.
He slowly lifted his head, his hazy vision clearing just enough for him to see the figures floating above him, the so-called elders of the academy, the people he had once respected, and by now, other powerful figures from different organisations had also risen into the air, forming a loose circle as they observed the situation with skeptical expressions, cautious, waiting to see how things unfolded.
If he had hoped to sway some of them in some way, now, he had already given up on trying to convince them.
There was no point.
Old men like these had already decided what they wanted to believe. There were only two things that mattered now.
’How do I get out of here…
And how do I speak to my girls and assure them that this is all bullshit…’
Despite the pain, despite the blood, and despite the blur in his vision, he could almost picture their faces right now, the worry, the confusion, the fear, and he couldn’t help but let out another weak laugh.
’Who am I kidding…’
He didn’t need to convince them. They would believe him.
’Probably.’ A part of him feared the possibility that they might think otherwise.
The system’s voice echoed in his mind.
[Getting you out of here won’t be simple, and while the goddess is aware of your predicament, she has already broken many rules, and any further interference will be noticed by the pantheon.]
Elion’s thoughts sharpened slightly.
[However, there is a somewhat troublesome solution at hand.]
[I say troublesome because your survival once you get there will depend entirely on your capabilities]
[There exists an ancient, forgotten bloodline trial that teleports selected candidates to its location once triggered.]
[It will be a simple matter to override the selection process and designate you as a participant.]
Elion nodded inwardly.
[However, all of your system points will be lost in the process.]
He grimaced slightly, though the expression was faint beneath the blood.
He didn’t have a choice.
[System points are essentially tokens that allow you to alter your fate.]
[They function as a means to bypass the laws of the universe and assist you as the system’s host.]
[To force entry into the trial, all points will be consumed, and you will be the final participant.]
’Final participant?’
“You mean there will be others?” he asked inwardly.
[Yes. The details are unclear. You will understand once you arrive.]
A lot of thoughts ran through his mind in that short moment, questions about consequences, about what would happen to the people tied to him, about his women, about whether they would be dragged into this mess as accomplices or left be alone.
’They’ll probably be treated as victims of my plots even if they are treated with scrutiny and end up being questioned.’
That was the most likely outcome.
Still, there was one thing left to do.
[You can establish a communication link through the harem seal and speak to one of them at a time.]
Elion felt a small sense of relief at that.
But he didn’t have the time to speak to all of them. Not more than five seconds had passed, but he could already guess that these bastards were getting restless.
He didn’t have time to speak to all of them.
’Mira will do.’
He forced himself to look like he was struggling to breathe, his chest rising and falling unevenly as he focused inward, establishing the link, and almost immediately, he felt her presence nearby, close enough that the connection formed without resistance.
’Mira.’
Back in the waiting room, Mira’s body trembled as his voice echoed inside her mind, and her eyes widened as tears immediately welled up and spilled down her cheeks.
“El—! Is that you!?”
’Yes… It’s me… listen, I don’t have much time.’
Then, he did something unthinkable.
He tried to send her fragments of his memories. It worked.
Particularly, his most recent ones. He didn’t bother with words; he just sent her everything.
From the moment William had pushed him into the dungeon, to falling to the brink of death, to receiving the system, to his initial plans, his thoughts, his intentions, his desire for revenge, his decision to use the system to grow stronger, to seduce potential, to dominate, and to take control of his life.
Then her. How he had planned to break her. How he had ended up… caring for her over time.
And then Aria.
Beatrice.
Isolde.
Training to grow stronger.
Meeting Esme and Ophelia. Their spicy activities and the ’divine’ mission he received to restore their race.
And then Celeste. How they interacted, how he claimed her. The decisions they made, and he ended up giving her a child before she left.
By the time it ended, Mira had stopped crying. She was just… stunned.
It was too much for her to process in a single moment. It was a lot to take in.
And yet, she smiled.
“I thought as much…” she said softly in his mind, her voice steady despite everything, “this is so much like you…”
After a faint pause, she spoke again, “…Poor senpai Celeste.”
She should have been angry.
Or hurt.
Or conflicted.
But she wasn’t.
She had already given herself to him completely.
If even a goddess had chosen him, then her faith and love for him had not been misplaced. Not in the least
Elion chuckled faintly when he understood her thoughts. With this link, it really felt like they had both been laid bare to each other.
’I was worried for nothing.’ He realised.
But then her tone shifted. “What are you going to do now…?”
He could feel her worry clearly now, because regardless of everything, he was still injured, still surrounded, and still very much in mortal danger.
’Take care of the others while I’m gone.’
“What do you mean…?” she asked immediately, her concern spiking, “Are you okay…?”
He chuckled again, softer this time. ’Trust me.’
And then, he broke the link.
Back on the battlefield, he lifted his head slightly, looking up at the powerful figures surrounding him, his expression calm despite the state he was in.
“I see…” he said quietly, his broken voice still carrying across the arena. “I guess there is no place left for me here.”
