- Chapter 264 - 264: The Dam.

Kyle had just found out the man before him had ties with the Yakuza, just when he thought things couldn’t get any more complicated. If this man had eyes on Kyle, then there was no way he wouldn’t know of his association with Nakamura.
Was this why he was chosen? Kyle wondered what that text message was and if it was referring to the Mafia or Nakamura.
Either way, Kyle had to find a way to decipher who sent that text message because this wasn’t a life-threatening situation as of yet.
There was no need to panic because he had everything under control in the end.
The meeting lasted for a couple of minutes, Kyle letting Nakamura fill in the blanks.
But there was one thing Kyle still understood: he still had the upper hand. Nakamura wasn’t directly in the Yakuza, but his father was the Oyabun, which meant he was the leader of a branch in Japan.
The truth was, Nakamura never wanted that life and was never formally introduced into the Yakuza, but his father couldn’t persuade him either, even though this would make him the successor.
Nakamura was given a chance at life when his father sent him to America to establish a foothold in America.
The other members assumed the boss had sent his son out to expand their operation, and this was what was on paper, but Nakamura knew this was his father giving him a chance at chasing a dream he didn’t think possible.
However, this didn’t mean he couldn’t use his father’s name to strike fear into the heart of his enemies, which made his reaction to Cleopatra all the stranger.
Kyle was glad Nakamura trusted him with this information, but he had no interest in being in the middle of this.
Should they clash and a war break out, Kyle wanted no part in it, but something told him it was too late.
“The Agency that attempted to acquire mine… Do they have links to the Mafia?” Kyle questioned, and Nakamura’s lips parted in complete surprise.
“It is a thought because acquiring my Agency would allow them to carry out their operations behind the scenes without us being any the wiser. But seeing as they had failed, they reached out to me directly,” Kyle said, pausing briefly to take a huge sip from his drink to hydrate his drying throat.
“That is just a thought because there is a chance I’m overthinking this, but everything feels connected,” Kyle added.
“That is correct, Kyle… You continue to exceed my expectations,” Nakamura responded.
This was why he was against it—because he understood the true nature of this acquisition, but of course, he couldn’t let them know.
That would be giving them too much information and exposing them to a world they had no business meddling in. However, this changed the moment the Mafia reached out to Kyle, and Nakamura was aware of the kind of man Kyle was.
If the news of Clarence’s demise was heard by the Mafia, then there was no way it wouldn’t have reached Nakamura as well, but this was information he had no interest in letting Kyle know, because what good would it do except put him on guard?
Yuki looked equally shocked by how quickly he connected the lines with little to no help, but this also made him a threat.
He was associated with the Mafia right now, and this could, in turn, put her boss in danger. Even though the Mafia lived by a code that kept them in line, like the Yakuza, which made coexisting possible as long as they didn’t step on each other’s toes.
Kyle understood what was going on and knew he should be fine as long as he didn’t violate any rules.
Nothing was stopping Kyle from getting the police involved, either, but he had seen enough movies to know that the police couldn’t do anything because there was always an inside man.
However, this also showed he had a powerful ally in Nakamura should things take a turn for the worse.
Kyle concluded his meeting with Nakamura and was advised to comply with the Mafia rules, but also warned against buying the Agency affiliated with them.
However, Kyle knew the risks and the danger that came with it. It was up to him, but Kyle had an idea—there was no way he was leaving empty-handed.
Kyle allowed Nakamura to leave first, hanging behind to have a proper meal.
“Oh right, Cassandra,” Kyle muttered to himself, his voice indifferent.
Kyle remembered it had been a while since he checked in on her.
He took a quick selfie with a thumbs up and a flashy smile, attaching the hashtag #businessmeetingdone before hitting send.
This was simple but effective because it showed he was thinking about her.

Jane couldn’t stay indoors with Jasmine all day as she had work to attend to. She thought about resuming early because nothing was stopping her.
But this was something Kyle trusted her with, and there was so much she didn’t know.
She soon heard a knock at the door, and before she could respond, Jasmine was already there.
“J-Jasmine! Wait!” Jane tried to verbally stop her, but the child didn’t listen.
Jane got to her feet and saw Aiysha standing at the door. Aiysha and she got along, so she was glad to see her.
“Hello Aiysha!” Jane greeted her, and she could tell right away that Jasmine liked her as well.
“Oh Jane, how are you?” Aiysha greeted her, surprised she was here.
Jasmine recognised her, but there was something Jasmine wasn’t aware of—she didn’t know the relationship any of them shared.
To Jasmine, they were all friends, and this was why she made a crucial mistake in this setting.
“Is Calista coming back today?” Jasmine asked, and the room fell quiet. Aiysha had an idea that Kyle was seeing multiple women, and judging from the look on Jane’s stunned face.
She didn’t like that name, and who could blame her? Even Aiysha didn’t like her and much preferred Jane because she had the values of a partner.
“Calista?” Jane repeated, sounding almost shocked to hear this name, because why was she here, and was that why Kyle was so revved up when he saw her?
Jane tried her best to trust him, but this was a strange thing—the fact that Calista knew about this before her hurt her ego.
Jasmine had tossed a stone, and unfortunately, it hit a dam that ultimately could ruin Kyle’s relationships.
