How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World - Chapter 167: Struggle

Chapter 167: Struggle
Yun Feng was stunned. Was it supposed to work like this?
“This…” Yun Feng wanted to say something. He felt that something was wrong, but he could not quite put his finger on it.
“Do you not think it is fair?” Wei Chen pressed.
“Yeah… it is… it is fair, but… still…” He wanted to voice his protest, but he still could not explain why it felt strange. On paper, yes, this was very fair, as fair as it could be. He could even sneak in a few more beatings than he had received back then.
“So what are you going to do?” Wei Chen asked.
“Err… how powerful is 2,500 times the strength of an average mortal slap?” Yun Feng asked.
“Hmmm… let me think.” Wei Chen took out his phone and began calculating.
“The usual average force of a slap is around 200 to 400 newtons, so let us say it is 300 newtons. Then 300 multiplied by 2,500 will be…” Wei Chen muttered under his breath as he entered the numbers into the phone calculator. The people watching were confused by what he was doing. Finally…
“750,000. So about the force of a truck… I mean…” Wei Chen paused, realizing that he was spouting nonsense that the people in this world would not understand.
“The force is enough to destroy a medium sized mortal house,” Wei Chen concluded.
The reason he used the term mortal house was because cultivator estates or properties that served cultivators usually had reinforcement arrays to strengthen the structure. These arrays were just strong enough to resist the rampage of low level cultivators.
That meant that as long as you were not beyond the Foundation Establishment Realm, you could not even scratch a property reinforced by the arrays commonly available on the market these days.
“Destroy a medium sized mortal house? But he is already at the Peak Core Formation Realm! That would only sting him a little. It might not even cut his lip!” Yun Feng protested.
“Was this not exactly what you wanted?” Wei Chen said as he showed the contract signed by both Ximen Hao and Yun Feng.
“This…” Yun Feng was speechless. He had never expected to fall into this trap.
Then an idea struck him. What if he pretended to accidentally use too much force? Would that not work?
“Fine… let us get started.” Yun Feng stepped forward with a smirk.
Seeing the smirk, Wei Chen could not help but roll his eyes. This idiot was definitely about to try something stupid.
Yun Feng subtly channeled his spiritual qi. He would first mask the strength he used, then overload the power in the slap. He would slap this bastard’s head flying off.
Once he was done, he would take Xiao Mei and immediately run away. His teacher had taught him a powerful movement technique that even people in the Soul Formation Realm would not be able to catch him.
But before Yun Feng could put his plan into action, Wei Chen spoke.
“By the way, Edgelord.”
Yun Feng paused and turned toward Wei Chen.
“You do not need to worry about failing to regulate your strength correctly. Even if you use too much force, I can measure exactly how much force you used beyond the contract. I can give you a change.”
“A change?” Yun Feng asked, confused.
“For example.” Wei Chen raised a finger. “If you use enough force to destroy two medium sized mortal houses, then I will slap you with the exact force required to destroy one medium sized mortal house.”
“How is it? It is fair, right?” Wei Chen said with a bright smile.
Yun Feng was stunned, but Mo Xingyao had already started giggling. This guy was truly terrible.
It was not that she doubted him. As the young master of a hidden ancient sect, he definitely had the capability to do such a thing. The problem was something else.
If he truly wanted this to be fair, he should have let Ximen Hao deliver the slap instead.
Then again, this guy loved slapping people in the face. Maybe he just wanted to slap a Heaven’s Chosen. That was what Mo Xingyao thought.
Hearing the ridiculous statement, Yun Feng broke out in cold sweat. It was a good thing he had not immediately slapped Ximen Hao to death.
If he had done that, he might have been slapped to death in return.
But… Brother Wei would not really slap him to death… would he?
Yun Feng thought for a moment and then decided to carefully control the force of his slap.
Slap!
Ximen Hao was struck. His face turned from the force, and he felt the sting across his cheek and mouth. He touched his lips and noticed blood.
“You sneaked in a little extra, huh? Fine… I will be magnanimous.” Ximen Hao said with a smirk as he licked his lips and tasted his own blood.
“Hmph!” Yun Feng snorted.
Then Wei Chen walked over to Yun Feng.
Slap!
Yun Feng’s face turned slightly. He felt the slap, but it was not as strong as he had expected. Wait… could it be?
“This is the change. The exact force written in the contract should not be enough to break his lip,” Wei Chen said casually.
Ximen Hao’s smirk widened. He began to appreciate this Brother Wei more and more. At this rate, his life and his clan would be safe from becoming entangled with this rabid dog.
He also understood something. If it had not been for Brother Wei teaching him about countermeasures and how to act properly, things would have been very different. If he had still been his old self, this would have turned into a long story of revenge and bloody conflict.
He did not even want to imagine what might have happened with Xiao Mei. If Brother Wei had not intervened, he might not have been able to control himself and could have done something to her. That would have created an irreconcilable feud with this Heaven’s Chosen idiot.
While Ximen Hao silently thanked Wei Chen in his heart, Wei Chen continued with the contract.
“Next… kicking. I will calculate it for you.”
The contract continued. Each time a new item appeared on the list, Wei Chen calculated the exact force required for Yun Feng’s hundredfold revenge and adjusted the change in case Yun Feng could not resist adding extra strength.
The revenge continued until dusk. By that time, Yun Feng and Ximen Hao were not very different from each other. Both of them had injuries here and there. Ximen Hao had a deep bruise around one eye. Yun Feng had one as well, though it was not as severe as the one he had given Ximen Hao. Their clothes were also damaged.
All of this was because of the changes Wei Chen gave to Yun Feng.
By now, Mo Xingyao and Dream Butterfly had gone inside for lunch and then returned. They were chatting with each other, and Xiao Mei had joined them. The three of them were now sitting together and watching the ridiculous revenge scene unfold.
Many of the Ximen Clan’s subordinates had also found stools and chairs to sit on while watching. If someone had seen this scene without context, they might have thought they were watching an open air theater.
This happened because the contract stated that some of the items involved humiliation witnessed by others. Since many people had seen the humiliation back then, the number of witnesses had to be multiplied by one hundred according to the contract.
As time passed, the number of subordinates that came with Ximen Hao was not enough, so they had to hire other people to watch the show to make up the required number.
“As for the final item in the revenge contract!” Wei Chen announced loudly for everyone to hear.
“Verbal humiliation.”
Hearing this, Ximen Hao let out a sigh of relief. “Finally. The last of this nonsense.” He could not help but vent a little.
“Nonsense? You call this nonsense? Do you even know what I had to face before? You do not even know the struggles of people like us!” Yun Feng said as he pointed at Ximen Hao.
Ximen Hao snorted. “Of course I do not know. That is why I offered you generous compensation because I imagined it must have been difficult. But you chose this nonsense instead because of your stupid pride. So now we must follow the contract.” He spoke with clear disdain.
He had thought that Heaven’s Chosen were supposed to be reasonable and respectable, like Jian Heng, the Vice Sect Leader of the Heavenly Sword Sect. But perhaps Heaven’s Chosen were still human after all. To make mistakes was part of human nature. Among the Heaven’s Chosen, there were probably idiots like this one as well.
“You!” Yun Feng pointed at him, about to lose his temper.
“And…” Ximen Hao was not finished.
“You also do not understand the struggles of people like us who hold power,” Ximen Hao said.
“Heh. What struggles could you possibly have? You are just a skirt chasing young master. Have you ever known the hunger that people like us face?” Yun Feng retorted.
“I have not, and I am honest about it,” Ximen Hao replied calmly before continuing.
“But what about you? Do you know how we struggle to maintain our income? How we must regulate our wealth and calculate everything in case some bastard in our clan skims the payment meant for our warriors? Because if we do not, more than ten thousand people could starve.”
“Do you know how we struggle to fend off powerful enemies who want a share of the pie, when that same pie is what we need to maintain the living conditions of more than a hundred million mortals so they can have roofs over their heads?”
“Do you know how we struggle to send teams into secret realms to find the diagrams needed to repair ancient arrays? Because if we do not, there will be hell to pay. Plagues and diseases will spread because the purification arrays were not repaired in time.”
“And if our warriors die, we must also arrange funding to support and care for their families.”
Ximen Hao spoke about all the burdens he had faced while training to become the next heir. It was a good thing he understood all of this, because these were the same struggles his father, as the patriarch, had to deal with.
Yun Feng stood there in stunned silence, hearing truths he had never imagined before.
