How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World - Chapter 168: Settling Score-03

Chapter 168: Settling Score-03
Ximen Hao continued.
“While you might have to worry about whether you will have your next meal, we need to worry about how to secure those meals for you.” He paused.
“We also need to watch our backs and never let down our guard. Otherwise, even if we do well in providing for you, someone might cause trouble because they want to be in our position. It is not as glorious as you think. You only see the glorious side of our lives and do not know what we must do to secure the glory you see.
“And if we do not perform well in our roles, the more powerful we are, the more miserable our end will be if we fail.” Ximen Hao stopped speaking to let Yun Feng digest what he had just said.
“We each have our own set of problems, so do not throw a tantrum at me and act like you are the only one in the world who has problems that need fixing.”
“You!” Yun Feng was speechless. He had never imagined that he would fail to come up with a comeback. He had never even dreamed that he would lose a debate to this young master he hated so much.
“Do not you dare act all righteous. How do you explain what you did to me?” Yun Feng returned to the main point.
“I am not trying to justify what I did to you. That is why I am paying for it now. If you have had enough of this discussion, then let us continue. I still have many more important things to take care of.” Ximen Hao ended the discussion and turned toward Wei Chen.
“Brother Wei, let us continue. What is next?” Ximen Hao asked.
“Only one item remains, verbal humiliation. According to the list, you verbally humiliated him about one hundred times. So according to what Edgelord requested, paying it back a hundredfold will be…”
“More than ten thousand times,” Ximen Hao concluded and let out a long sigh. “Just when I thought this would finally come to an end. I do not have time to stay here and listen to this mad dog rambling all day.” Ximen Hao was clearly impatient. He looked toward a group of his servants who were watching from the side.
“Someone, bring my desk and bring my work here. I will sit here and work while this guy takes his revenge.”
Ximen Hao gave the order and the servants quickly scattered. After about five minutes, they returned with a desk and chair. It was the same one he used in his study, along with a pile of paperwork.
He sat down behind his desk. Before he continued, he glanced at Yun Feng.
“Somebody get a seat and a pot of tea for this guy. He will need it.”
The servants quickly brought a seat to Yun Feng. At that point, Ximen Hao began working.
Yun Feng stared at the young master in front of him, unsure of what to do anymore.
“What are you gawking at? Do not you want to take revenge? Continue. Hurl your verbal abuse at me. I will listen while I work.” Ximen Hao said this, then ignored Yun Feng and focused on his work.
“You… you arrogant bastard!” Yun Feng began. He gritted his teeth and started insulting Ximen Hao.
Wei Chen, on the other hand, called a servant to mark down each verbal insult Yun Feng threw at Ximen Hao. He had no intention of staying there all night listening to this idiot hurl weak verbal attacks.
It would surely damage his brain cells.
After everything was arranged, Wei Chen decided to return to the guest room and make something for the girls to eat.
…
Several hours passed. Yun Feng continued throwing verbal attacks at Ximen Hao, but the intensity had clearly decreased.
“You! Have you even been listening?” Yun Feng protested.
“Yes, I have been listening. You just called me a retard, right? And you have repeated it more than fifty times already,” Ximen Hao replied calmly.
“Then why are you not angry at all? You do not even react!” Yun Feng said.
Ximen Hao signed a document after checking its contents and handed it to a servant to deliver to the relevant department. He even told the servant who to contact to ensure the document would be processed as quickly as possible.
“If I became angry at every piece of nonsense people say to me, I would not have lived this long. Besides, your verbal attack power is not even a fraction of Brother Wei’s when he starts insulting someone.” He paused.
“No offense, but your verbal attack power is terrible.” Ximen Hao said this with a smirk of disdain.
Hearing this, the anger within Yun Feng, which had started to subside, flared up again. He threw several more insults at Ximen Hao.
“Hmm. Better. Come on, hurry up. Chop chop. I still need to visit several more people today. I cannot just bring you with me and listen to your ranting while I am holding meetings. So you need to finish it by tomorrow.” Ximen Hao said this and continued working.
Now that all the tasks marked as urgent had been completed, only routine work remained. According to his calculations, it would take about two hours to finish.
— Night – Thousand Treasure City —
It was already 10 PM. Wei Chen was playing Uno with Mo Xingyao and Dream Butterfly when the verbal attacks from outside the guest room suddenly stopped.
Wei Chen grew curious. He paused the game and walked out to the balcony to see what was going on. Had those two already finished?
Looking down at the courtyard, he saw Yun Feng panting and sitting on a chair as if he had lost all of his strength. Ximen Hao, on the other hand, was stretching and yawning as if he had just finished a long workday.
Wei Chen checked the time on his phone. These two had started around 2 PM and finished around 10 PM. That was about eight hours of nonstop trash talking.
He imagined that listening to someone insult you for eight straight hours must be unbearable. However, from the looks of it, the one doing the trash talking was in even worse condition than the one listening.
Wei Chen told the two girls to continue the Uno match without him. Then he jumped down from the balcony and walked toward the two men.
“You guys finished?” he asked.
“Yes, Brother Wei. Thank you for helping me manage this… incident.” Ximen Hao said this as he looked at the exhausted Yun Feng, whose throat was clearly dry.
At that moment, Xiao Mei hurried over to Yun Feng. She checked on him and refilled his teacup so he could sip it and soothe his throat.
“Wait… it is not finished yet!” Yun Feng spoke.
Neither Wei Chen nor Ximen Hao showed any panic or surprise, as if they had already anticipated this.
Yes, the revenge for the bullying and humiliation had been completed. However, there were still two matters that Wei Chen had deliberately left out. The burning of the house and the severing of the arm.
“Brother Wei.” Yun Feng looked coldly at Wei Chen. “I never thought you would be this kind of person. I was truly wrong about you.”
“Wrong about me? What the hell are you talking about, Edgelord?” Wei Chen asked, confused.
“I thought you were a righteous person. I thought you were someone who would ensure justice was done. I never expected that for the sake of wealth you would throw away your righteousness. Or rather…”
“You are afraid of the Ximen Clan.” Yun Feng looked at Wei Chen with disdain. “That is why you deliberately left out the house burning and the arm severing that Ximen Hao should have received.”
Hearing this, Wei Chen chuckled.
“Yes, I deliberately left those out. But not for the reason you think.” Wei Chen said this as he walked over and sat on a nearby chair that the servants had not yet removed from the courtyard.
“Let us say I enforced those things. What do you think would happen?” Wei Chen asked patiently.
“Heh. That is easy. Since it is a hundredfold revenge, I would burn down the Ximen Clan’s ancestral grounds. If you helped me, I could easily do that.” Yun Feng said with a scoff, though his eyes carried a faint trace of hope.
“That is true. If I helped you, you could do that. What about the arm severing then? What do you think would happen?” Wei Chen pressed.
“I would cut off all of Ximen Hao’s limbs and continue with the Ximen Clan servants until I had enough severed limbs.” Yun Feng smiled coldly.
Wei Chen nodded, understanding the mindset of a Heaven’s Chosen.
“I see…” he began. “Then let me tell you what would really happen and what kind of dilemma you would face if you tried to do that.”
