Chapter 112: Why does she want me dead
My mouth was agape as I finished reading the email. I couldn’t believe what I was reading.
In my past life, the doctors would tell me again and again that they had no idea what the cause of my illness was. They would say they are performing all kinds of tests. Desperately trying to save my life.
And yet here the doctor without needing to perform any tests, hell, without even needing a physical patient, was able to give me possible theories on what had caused it.
Why the hell had the doctors in my past life always said they didn’t know? They never once mentioned poisoning to me.
As I contemplated the situation, the only answer I could think of was Diana. Without any evidence, my bias naturally went to her. She is the only person I could think of who would want me dead. It literally made no sense any other way.
So many questions came to mind if that was the case. How had she poisoned me in the first place? When had she done it? I was sick for two years before I died! That meant she continued to have me poisoned since the doctor mentioned I had to have had continued exposure to the poison for the disease to worsen in the way it did.
The only conclusion I could come to was that the doctors had to be in on it. They were the only people with whom I was in constant contact during my time in the hospital aside from Tony. They were lying to me and killing me. Diana have bribed or paid them to kill me.
This whole time I thought I could trust the doctors. I thought they were trying to help me. They were professionals doing their job, why wouldn’t I believe their judgments and opinions. Their reaction was the only reason I never considered foul play as the cause of my illness.
However, what I didn’t understand was why she wanted me dead, specifically, at that point in time. Of course Diana didn’t like me and ever since I had been kicked out of Keiths estate, she had been torturing me in all kinds of ways to get back at me for ’taking her’ Keith. She didn’t want me to have his money or any other benefits he wanted to give me. When I failed to receive my alimony and took Keith to court Diana found a way to sabotage it all and make sure I received nothing. The woman didn’t like me.
However, if she wanted me dead why did she wait six years later to finally do it? Wouldn’t it have made sense to kill me earlier like maybe directly after my divorce with Keith?
I mean Diana had completely won at that point. She was married to Keith, Marco her son was his heir, she had already won. Tony and I were completely cut off from Keith and anything to do with them. Was she just that petty?
Whilst her motives were questionable what was more pressing was that now that I had gone back in time she eventually planning to have me poisoned. She had attacked me in my home and tried to have me fired from the restaurant. Keith was ultimately her goal and right now she thought I was doing things to get Keith’s attention which meant her antics were far from over.
What I needed to do was retrace my past and draw a timeline on when I fell ill up until the time I died to put together how she did it. I had to figure out what had happened.
“Jasmine,” I then heard a familiar voice call my name, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I found a figure standing by the entrance to my office. “Louis,” I said his name in surprise.
“I’ve been standing by your door for more than a minute and you still didn’t notice me,” he told me.
“Really?” I asked surprised by this. “Sorry I didn’t realise I was that absent-minded.”
“You always seem to be in your own mind the lady few days, Jasmine,” Louis said to me.
“Do I?” I asked him.
“Is everything alright?” he asked me as he sat by my desk. “Are you thinking about your mother’s medical records?”
I hadn’t told Louis about my first life for obvious reasons. I mean how crazy would that sound? But I had told him about the truth behind my mother’s death. To get some feedback on what he thought about the reasons behind my brother giving me the documents. As well my
“Yeah,” I agreed. I mean it still was on my mind as well as this new information.
“I understand, do you need a break? We can get some coffee in my office,” he offered. I recalled he had a coffee machine in there.
“Sure,” I accepted. “But didn’t you come here because you have some work for me to do?”
“We’ll discuss it in my office.” he told me. We then left my office and went to his. I needed a little break from all these troubling thoughts.
Afterwards I managed to put aside thoughts of diana and got back to focusing on work. I told myself I would think about it more when I got home.

Later that evening, at dinner, Louis gave me an update on the apartment Tony and I would be moving into the following day.
“The house is settled and I’ll have some men begin to sending your stuff in storage over there,” he told me.
“Okay, that’s great,” I replied.
“You hear that, Tony? were moving into our new home tomorrow,” I told him.
“Can’t wait to swim in the pool there,” was his response. To which Louis laughed.
“Is that all that’s on your mind?” I asked him and he laughed.
An idea then came to mind since we were moving out the following day.
“How about we have dinner at my place tomorrow night then?” I asked him.
