Chapter 194: Why didn’t he warn me
DIANA’S POV
Keith walked away from me as he went after Jasmine.
I hope she dies! I yelled after Keith as he left me in the sitting room alone. If I can’t have him I hope she doesn’t get him either.
As he closed the door behind him I slowly sank to the floor and as I cried out.
How? How had this happened? I still couldn’t believe this was my reality.
Starting from that moment in court when Jasmine presented those damning bank statements.
First of all, I thought he had handled all those bank statements already! Why hadn’t ’he’ told me about it? I wondered. He always protected me and always covered up all my mistakes, to make sure I always looked good. I’m sure he knew Jasmine knew.
I recalled when Jasmine smiled at me in court letting me know she was on to me. My body seethed with rage at the recollection.
Why didn’t he do it this time?!
The entire time I was just hoping the evidence was all a fluke during the hearing. Keith didn’t seem to believe Jasmine’s evidence either so that helped.
Then when the judge gave his verdict and determined the evidence to be true I almost fainted.
Before we went for the hearing the day before I had been hoping Keith would lose custody. That was he wouldn’t have access to Jasmine anymore
My wish came true at a greater cost than I realized.
Now he planned to have our DNA tests taken… My whole future with Keith and Marco as the heir to his company. Just like that… and I didn’t even see it coming.
My breathing pace suddenly increased and a wild scream escaped my mouth as I struggled to come to terms with my situation. After what felt like over 20 minutes of me breaking down I stood up. I didn’t know where I was going until I found myself at the door to Marco’s room. Outside was a bodyguard watching him as per Keith’s orders but again he was on our side.
I entered the room and found Marco seated on his bed. My head maid was talking to him and there were some other servants in the room.
I charged towards to Marco who turned to look at me as I approached, his eyes widened in worry. My eyes focused on that black hair and his eyes and I went into a frenzy.
“Mum?” he said to me in fear and confusion which enraged me even more.
“This is all your fault! If only you had actually been his son!” I yelled. Why couldn’t you be Keith’s son!? This is why I’ve always hated you. I raised my hand up to hit him, not caring about the servants that were present.
As usual I would let all the anger and frustration I felt out on him.
Marco cowered as he waited for me to hit him. Suddenly, my head maid came and stood in front of him blocking me.
“Ma’am, I was about to come to you. We have to leave the estate,” she told me.
My expression changed to one of confusion as she appeared before me.
“Why?” I asked her noting her tone was serious.
“He has given us orders to return to him,” she informed me.
My eyes widened in horror. “We’re going back?” I asked. “But what— what about Keith the plan has always been to stay in the estate.”
“Ma’am you have been found out and he his planning to have Marco’s DNA tested,” she told me.
She was right but it hurt hear from someone else. “But he’s taking care of Jasmine, isnt he?” I was so desperate I want to hang on to a thread of hope that Keith might change his mind and come back to me.
“Ma’am you can take it up with the master when we get there but we have to go now,” she went on.
“But I’m sure if Jasmine is gone, Keith might look at me,” I told her. He won’t have a choice anymore.
My head maid gave me a sympathetic look.
“Ma’am it’s over for you here,” she bluntly told me. “The chairman is going to kick you out of the estate and if he finds out the truth about Marco the master will be upset.”
My lips quivered as my eye contact faltered.
Some movement in the corner of my eye, had me notice the servants who were all in Marco’s room. It’s then that I realized it was strange for them to all be in Marco’s room. They were all servants loyal to ’him’. They were different corners of the Marcos room their movements suspicious.
“What are they doing?” I asked my head maid as I looked at them in confusion.
“I’ll explain along the way, ma’am. It’s a long story,” she told me.
“When did he make you start preparing this?” I asked seeing how this didn’t look like something that suddenly came about a day ago.
“A week ago…” she answered trailing off.
That means ’he’ must have known about Jasmine’s reveal at the court hearing.
“So why didn’t he protect or warn me about the court hearing?!” I asked her.
“I don’t know, ma’am. We didn’t know this was all going to happen. He gave us vague orders and we just followed them,” she explained.
I knew ’he’ tended to do that. As I contemplated I came to the conclusion that I would have to confront him myself when I saw him. I didn’t want to leave, I really didn’t. However, there was no other choice.
My head maid had us prepare to leave Keith’s estate. She gave Marco and I basic clothes to put on. That way we could slip away undetected by the other servants in the house.
The servants together with my head maid, Marco and I left the mansion. We escaped in truck that had come in with deliveries for estate at the back. The servants had prepared this ahead of time.
As our getaway car drove away I looked back at the estate wondering if I would ever see it again.
