Husband you've abandoned me. Fine, I'll focus on raising my son - Chapter 244: New job

Chapter 244: New job
LOUIS’ POV
Upon arriving at the HQ I remembered the last time I was here as I entered the building. I walked up to the
Upon exiting the elevator I was met with Robert who was making his way to the elevator with his personal assistant.
Upon recognising my face, he gave me the meanest glare.
“Don’t get all cocky just because you’re working here now,” he told me once he was in front of me.
Robert was still fighting with our father, it seems. “Good morning to you, too, Robert. You should take it up with the chairman and not me,” I told him.
“Remember this is only temporary and father will reinstate me,” he added.
“Good for you, Robert,” I replied rather condescendingly, and I saw Robert’s neck vein almost pop out in anger.
I then arrogantly walked past him before he reacted. I didn’t have time to deal with him.
“You’re such a little brat!” yelled after me. “Argh!!” He screamed out in frustration as I walked away. Wow, he was really not taking this well, I thought to myself. I recalled the way he reacted at the family dinner.
When I arrived at the double doors to my father’s office, I breathed out slowly, preparing myself to talk to him.
I knocked, and the buzzer sounded. After a moment, the door clicked open, allowing me to enter my father’s office.
“Robert, I told you the—,” my father started before he paused and looked at my face in surprise. “Oh, Louis, it’s you. Please come in,” he then said. His expression changed from complete anger to
He was seated at his desk, already going through his desktop. At his side was his personal assistant.
Looks like I was right. My brother had been complaining to my father again about the situation. When I reached his desk, he told me to sit down.
My father lifted some documents in front of him on the desk and showed them to me. My eyes glanced down at his desk, and I saw they were the latest report documents of the Garden House restaurants’ performance. I read the dates on the covers.
“This weekend, every Garden House restaurant in the city was fully booked. After almost 2 years of low and plummeting sales, the restaurant has resuscitated itself,” he started.
He laughed. “Honestly, this is just incredible! To make 40 per cent of profit with just such a low budget. And when you look at the strategy you implemented that resulted in this, it’s so simple, really.”
“That’s good news, Father,’ I told him.
“So, as I was telling you at the family dinner on Saturday, after looking at the recent performance of the Garden house, I would like to implement that strategy in our other restaurants and in the country. Do you have any idea just how much the business will save in spending, but simultaneously lead to record profits if we can add this to our other restaurants?
As I looked into my father’s eyes, I swear I saw dollar signs flash in his pupils as he spoke.
“Since it was your idea, I want you to manage and help with the implementation into other sectors of the business to maximise the success,” he told me.
“I see,” I replied.
It was amazing that the garden was doing well, and my father wanted to implement the plan now, but it was mainly Jasmine’s idea, and she wasn’t here with me to celebrate the feat or to help with this new strategy of his.
“Now, onto where you’ll start from. This week, you’ll mainly be focusing on familiarising yourself with the HQ, so do your best to keep up and learn as much as you can. You already have some experience at the garden house, I’m sure you’ll quickly catch on,” he informed me. “There’s a boardroom meeting this afternoon, and you will be attending it with me.”
“Yes, Chairman,” I said to him.
“Next week you will start handling tasks and taking on the projects,” he informed me. He then stood up from his desk.
“Now come with me, I’ll show you to your office,” he told me. “I’ll introduce you to your new PA since you don’t have one anymore.”
I followed him out of his office and down the hallway wing of the floor, and we went to where Robert’s office was located. I looked at the much larger office in comparison to my Garden House HQ Office. By the desk was a young woman organising piles of folders.
She turned to us when we entered and came away from the table.
“Louis, this is Leigh-Anne Sommers, my father introduced her. “She will be your assistant here at the HQ.”
“I see,” I told him.
I met her eyes and smiled at her. “Nice to meet you, Miss Sommers,” I greeted her and then shook her hand.
She had brunette hair and green eyes. My mouth twitched in discomfort as I recalled Jasmine’s green eyes and brown hair. Whilst Leigh-Anne and Jasmine didn’t look alike, even their hair and eyes were different shades of green and brown, but at first glance, you could get confused.
Something seemed familiar about her, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
“Leigh-Anne Sommers is twenty-four, studied business overseas, and she, of course, comes from the respectable Sommers family that runs the famous Sommers law firm. After talking to her father, who said her daughter was interested in business, I decided to hire her as an intern. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about your
“Thank you, Chairman,” she politely accepted the compliment.
My father then turned to the desk and the folders.
“So, Louis, as I said to you before this week, you’ll mainly be focusing on familiarising yourself with the operations of the HQ. You’ll have to go through the company documents here on the table and then
“Are all the files here?” he asked Leigh-Anne.
“I think a few are remaining in the storage room,” she answered.
“Go get them, please.”
“Yes, sir,” she replied and left the room.
“Isn’t she pretty?” My father asked me as Leigh-Anne left the office.
“Excuse me?” I asked him, taken aback by the question.
