Chapter 260: Emotional exhaustion
CURRENTLY EDITING.
“So far, we have found more evidence of fraud and strange transactions made by Mr. Redmane. We have found several documents in his room and home office that show he has at least four other bank accounts containing large amounts of money. More money than his current job could provide to ur understanding. We have our men going through it now.”
On the table in the dining room, the police man then placed several documents on the dinner table. It showed evidence of several bank accounts.
Keith’s bodyguards then spoke up. “We have also found that he is connected to the Acland estate bank account situation, sir,” the man informed us as he showed Keith some more papers. “He is the one who made the payment to the employee of the bank to agree to change the transaction, effectively helping to cover up that I wasn’t receiving my allowance from Keith.
So Edward had been the culprit all along. Right under Keith’s nose. All these years. At least 9 years now. In my past life, this would have continued on for another seven years.
My eyes once again focused not he picture in his living room of his girlfriend in the photos.
“Where is his girlfriend?” I asked. “Perhaps she can explain some things to us.”
“Oh yes. She is not here. Our men are currently looking for her,” the officer said. “Neither has she been at work for several weeks now. We called her job and they told us they received an email from Mr. Edward Hamilton and a call that she had some medical issues to take care of. The neighbours also say they haven’t seen her for a while either,” the officer continued. “We’re currently checking hospitals to see if they have her since she is taking care of her health. So far no hospitals, nor have we found any evidence of hospital visit receipts in the home.”
My lips pressed as I processed this information. Where had Edward put her? I thought to myself. It couldn’t be a coincidence that she had disappeared for weeks now. Perhaps it was to protect her in case he was found out, I wondered. It must be related.
After briefly speaking with the police and the bodyguards about the situation. We took a look around the apartment as well. We then began to go through all the evidence that had been found that tied Edward to so many other mysteries pertaining to the perpetrator.
After spending most of the Morning and afternoon at Edward’s apartment, hoping to find clues to Tony’s whereabouts, we have so far found nothing. Just more evidence showing Edward was the perpetrator.
I was emotionally exhausted. One of Keith’s men came to give an update on everything that was happening pertaining to investigating Edward and finding Tony.
“Any news on my son?” was Keith’s first question.
“Unfortunately, we still haven’t found the young master Anthony, Sir” he informed Keith. “All of his confirmed properties have been checked several times, and we have not found him. We also have not found any further details about the ransom note in his home or any of the properties.
My heart grew heavy at the news. I wanted to find Tony and end this nightmare once and for all. Knowing we were so close and that we had caught the guy was beyond frustrating.
Keith then received a message on his phone.
“Edward is awake, let’s go back to the HQ I think we’ve learned all we can here,” Keith said as he looked at me.
We then returned to the Acland HQ to reconvene. Under normal circumstances, the police would have taken him to the police station. However had requested the police to keep Edward at the HQ as his men investigated Edward and searched for Tony. He was a high-risk criminal capable of unpredictable things. Considering how we had he had attacked Tony and I everyhting else he had done.
Keith and I then frustratedly went to see Edward, who was under police and bodyguard watch in an empty office on the top floor.
“Edward, this is your last chance. Tell us where my son is now,” he told him. “You are not going to receive my company, so why don’t you make this easy for yourself?”
Edward, with his swollen face, merely looked at us but didn’t say anything to Keith.
“When did you meet with Diana and start colluding with her?” Keith asked him. “Where is Diana?!”
Again, he didn’t respond, just looked at us blankly. Edwards lips remained sealed. He wasn’t going to share or say anything.
“Sign over the company Chairman and you will get him back,” he said. “The deadline is still on. You won’t find him if you try to look for him on your own. It would be better if you if we settle this situation out of court. Release all your charges against me and then sign over the company as the instructions in the email say.”
“It’s better if we sort this out of court? Are you crazy?! You have been stealing money behind my back, negotiating with my lover, and you expect me to settle it all out of court?!” Keith asked in disbelief. Even I was taken aback by the ridiculous statement.
“You don’t have a choice,” Edward said.
“Fucking peace of shi—” Keith started as he immediately moved forward as if he was going to try and attack him again.
“Keith,” I interrupted him and held his arm. He paused and came to his senses. I was angry too, but we couldn’t resort to violence.
My eyes then met Edwards. I still couldn’t figure out what his goal was. We had caught him red-handed, and yet he was being stubborn and firmly believed we wouldn’t find Tony.
“I’m going to make you regret this!” Keith yelled at him.
Keith left the room, and I followed after him. Keith then talked to the bodyguards just outside the room.
“I want everything about him to be completely investigated. Everything, even a stupid exchange student trip he did as a kid. Every single detail. There must be other properties under fake names he’s hiding. There must be no stone left unturned,” Keith ordered his men.
“Yes, sir,” they accepted and began to carry them out.
