Chapter 261: We had dinner together
I found myself feeling frustrated as I stared at Edward who sat coolly at the desk. He was completely unafraid. This man knew where he was keeping Tony; he actually knew where he was. I felt a deep throbbing in my heart. We were so close and yet we still hadn’t found where Keith was.
Keith took me outside the office after we were done with the interrogation.
“We’ve caught him, and yet he’s still demanding the ransom and for this to be sorted. How do we know he’s telling the truth and that we’ll?” I asked him.
“As I said to him in there, I won’t let him win, I will find Tony. We have our guy,” he said to me with a determined tone.
He then spoke with the officers for some time as I watched just feeling emotionally exhausted.
“We’ll have to continue investigation him and find Anthony on our own,” he told me. We’ll have to the send him off to the station. He’ll be on a high and intensive watch. We don’t want him trying anything. The police will
“Okay,” I accepted his answer.
“We’ve already tied him to several things related to Diana and the plan to have us kidnapped.
It was several more hours as we waited for more information to be gathered and obtained by Keith’s men and the police whilst we were in his office. As I waited, I felt my body grow tired as the hours passed.
From the evidence Keith’s men had gathered, he had been the one to purchase the apartment in Kensington where Diana lived under his many aliases.
I wonder what happened after I died in my previous life. Their whole plan all along was to take control using Marco before I intervened, I suppose.
Keith seemed to notice that as he looked at me. He then drew close to me.
“Jasmine, go home,” Keith told me. “We’ll discuss the situation tomorrow I’ll stay here for now and sort this out.
“No, Keith, I want to stay,” I firmly told him. “We have to find Tony. Until we find him I won’t go home.”
However, he firmly refused.
“Yes, you will,” he told me as his hand came to my cheek. “I know you’re worried and anxious and so am I. You’ve had a long day and we barely slept last night. I’m just going to finish off here and I’ll follow suit but you have to go home.”
“No, I ref-” I started, however, before I could even finish, he’d already swept me off my feet. I internally sighed. I should have known it would end like this. When Keith makes a decision that concerns me, it’s final. My lips pressed together in annoyance as he carried me with my head resting against his shoulder.
There was no point fighting it. It was going to be his way. I just didn’t expect the day to end like this. We found the culprit, but Tony’s whereabouts were still a mystery.
“Take my wife home,” he ordered. Some of the bodyguards to follow us.
“Keith, wait, at least let me take a documents on everything Edward has done so I can look at it,” I tried to plead with him.
He looked down at me momentarily and then signalled to his bodyguards beside us. “Bring a folder for her.”
One of them quickly went back to get it.
We took the elevator, and he took me down to the entrance lobby.
A car was already waiting by the HQ entrance. The car door was opened by one of the bodyguards and he placed me inside.
He didn’t have to take to the car himself but it’s Keith we’re talking about. He wants to make sure I don’t try anything or to runaway even in this moment when we’re supposed to be focused on finding Tony. Why am I surprised?
“Don’t stay up late,” Was the last thing he told me.
On the ride back the day played out in my mind.
I was so sure we had finally found Tony I thought we were finally going to bring him home. I recalled Edwards odd behaviour whilst we were interrogating him. We have him cornered, and he still won’t give up.
Where is he keeping Tony? Is he even still al—
No.
Immediately, I brought my hands to my cheeks and slapped them.
No, Jasmine, don’t think like that. Tony is a strong and tough kid. He is alright. He had to be.
But why was Edward so sure we wouldn’t find Tony? I felt something was wrong. Keith was a powerful man, and I felt confident he could find out a lot with his resources. So why was Edward so unafraid of him? Or perhaps he was bluffing, and Keith would find Tony in due time. God, I hoped it was the latter.
What am I missing? I thought to myself. His girlfriend was missing and so was Diana…
Diana’s involvement still didn’t add up. If this plan was started at least 10 years ago when Diana was said to have moved to Kensington. Was Edward having an intimate relationship with Diana. Was he Marco’s father? But he didn’t look like Marco. Maybe Marco was some random kid they picked and made to look like Keith.
Marco wasn’t even Keith’s assistant at the time, nor was he even working at the Acland Hq at the time, 10 to 9 years ago. I’m struggling to understand what his goal is and was. I understand he wants money and the company, but that meant he knew so much about Keith BEFORE becoming his assistant. And then for him to plan for so long… I don’t know, something felt a little strange about this whole thing.
When I arrived at the estate, I felt tired and spent. I was escorted to my room. Upon closing the door, I finally let out an external sigh.
I don’t know how much more of this I can take. If I don’t find Tony now. Whilst Keith is searching for Tony, and I believe he is doing everything, I’m worried.
“Please be safe, Tony,” I said.
There was only about a week and a half now until the ransom was due. At the very least, I hoped Edward wasn’t lying and that Tony was fine until the end of the deadline.
I got up and went towards the seating area with the folder in my hands. Sitting down, I checked my phone and saw I had received a message on Stargram from Megan.
’Hello, Jasmine. How are you?’ It read.
I feel like shit. Is how I would truthfully answer but that wasn’t necessary right now. I suppose she was saying hi to since I had liked her posts the other day.
I simply replied. “I’m good. How are you?”
I then put it down and laid out the documents Keith’s men had gathered on the table in my seating area. I continued contemplating. Whilst I hoped Keith would make progress, that didn’t mean I would just wait and not try to do something. I had helped find the financial documents after all.
If Edward was so confident about his ransom and and deadline, I wanted to understand why.
So far, we had discovered he had aliases and secret names. Some of the names were those that were used to rent out the rental home where Diana was seen leaving after the tennis game. He was also the owner of the apartment in Kensington apartment.
My phone pinged bringing me out of my thoughts. My eyes unconsciously glanced at the at it and saw I had received a response from Megan.
’Good, we should meet up some time. Its been so long’
I scoffed I couldn’t meet up with her not right now with everything that was going on. Besides I don’t think was going to allow me to hang out with anyone.
Then my phone pinged again and another message came in.
’Last time when we had dinner with Nate and Chelsea was fun we should do something similar soon.’
My eyebrows sprung up in surprise.
Chelsea and Nate? Dinner? What is she talking about? I never met anyone called Chelsea and Nate with Megan. Neither had we had dinner together.
But those names were familiar. I have met people with those names. The time I went for dinner with Louis and met his friends…
My eyes widened in realisation as I looked back at the message. No way. There was no way. But it couldn’t be a coincidence, Nate was Louis’ best friend and Chelsea was Nate’s girlfriend. Why would Megan just suddenly bring up something that didn’t happen and names of people she doesn’t know? Unless…it was Louis whom I was talking to?
My eyes softened as I studied the message more carefully, wondering how I should respond.
ANTHONY’S POV
Try not to kick the ball too far,” I told Marco as we played football in the garden.
It had been two days since I had been released from that punishment room in the basement.
