“I didn’t say I want our relationship to be strictly professional because I don’t want to. I’m telling you that I don’t want anything more with you specifically,” I bluntly clarified.

“But I have a good background, we’re close in age. Why can’t you give me a chance?” She asked me.

My eyebrow twitched in annoyance.

“Miss Sommers, you are a beautiful and intelligent woman, but I am not interested. This is the first and last time we will be having this conversation, so drop it,” I shut her down sternly.

Disappointment spread across her face.

“…Yes, sir,” she reluctantly said, and then she quickly left the room. I shook my head in disapproval as she closed my office door behind her.

What had my father been telling her that she would boldly ask me like this? It almost felt like she felt entitled to my affection. Hopefully, this was the last time anything like this would occur.

It was awkward between us for the rest of the day after that.

She also stopped doing the over the top favours of making me coffee, flirting etc.

The following morning when I returned to the Hq I had to see my father first thing in the morning and to discuss the current project we were implementing.

I entered my father’s office and presented him with the report of how intended to go about this first project.

“Nice,” my father said as he went through the documents I had presented him.

“Oh Louis by the way, I heard that you rejected Miss Sommers,” my father told me.

I froze for a moment taken aback by this. Leigh Anne had snitched on me? I couldn’t believe it.

“Yes, father. I am not interested in Miss Sommers,” I will tell you this right now.

“Is that so?” My father asked. ”

My eyes narrowed I knew how he didn’t take my feelings seriously. My fathers golden eyes met mine as he studied me for a moment. He then sighed.

“I’ll let this issue go for now. It’s only been a couple of weeks since you ended things with Ms Towers. I suppose it makes sense why you’re making decisions based on your emotions but I hope you won’t do anything more to embarrass yourself. Whilst you are working here as the acting CEO of the Carrington group.

But you have to remember that Chairman Acland’s wife has returned to him. So I hope you won’t make any rash or downright I’m sure you’ve seen from Roberts slip up we’ve had quite enough of those. I’ve barely managed to keep what I did under wraps. The last thing I want is a situation with you involving the Aclands

“Am I understood?’ He asked me sternly.

“Yes, father,” I answered reluctantly.

I then took my documents and left the office.

“Why can’t I get one of them to act right…” I heard him whisper as I walked out of his office. ” First Robert and now this

I didn’t ask to make me the acting CEO that’s on him. I accepted the position only because I feel I’ll have more resources to help Jasmine. And I am getting an increase in my salary which is big plus. But if it gets in the way I’ll do what I have to.

You never noticed me anyway until now father so don’t impose . I thought to myself.

I looked down at my phone. Louis, Jasmine liked some of my posts on stargram and some comments. I think she has her phone so I sent her a message and am waiting for her to respond.

My eyebrows raised. She had her phone back?

“This is great,’ I replied.

She most probably couldn’t reach out to me. Not with that Keith hovering around her and blocking my calls. In the photos I been receiving Jasmine was always at Keiths side. Always. My eyes scanned a photo where his hand was around her waist. Keith wanted Jasmine badly. I knew it. I I was worried about jasmine possibly reciprocating these feelings for him and them rekindling their relationship. I was quite literally panicking.

I have no regrets dismissing Leigh-Anne’s advances however. My heart was with Jasmine after all. Regardless, of whether Jasmine could possibly rekindle her relationship with Keith it didn’t matter. I wasn’t prepared to jump into something new just like that. But I trust Jasmine, and believe she wouldn’t leave me for no reason.

I would wait for her response and then see where to from there. If she responds then I’ll luckily get a response from her.

The following day I received a message from Megan.

’Jasmine replied.’ Megan’s message read.

It confirmed that Jasmine did have her phone now but perhaps couldn’t contact me.

what was the best way to reach out to her without giving away it was me to Keith?

I then called Megan and then gave her a rundown of how I planned to execute my plan of communicating with Jasmine.

I asked if I could have access to her account to communicate with Jasmine and agreed. I had no choice but to use Megan to talk to Jasmine.

Later that night I was sat at my desk in my home office with Megan’s Stargram direct messages open infront of me. I contemplated how I could communicate with Jasmine. I couldn’t out right say; ’hey this is actually Louis in case,’ Keith is reading her messages or going through her phone.

What’s something only Jasmine and I know about that she would instantly recognise that it’s me and not Megan whilst to someone else it would just look like a normal text.

Depending on the situation Jasmine was in I wanted to be careful.

I thought of everything we had done together in the last months that could seem normal and unassuming to bring up but at the same time was something linked to me. We had dinner with Nate and Chelsea that time.

“We should meet up soon last time the dinner we had with Nate and Chelsea.” I texted. I crossed my fingers hoping she catches on that it was me.
