Chapter 284: Something laid out
The first person that came to mind was Louis who was the only person I knew who had golden eyes. Obviously, it wasn’t him, he would have been underage at the time Marco was born and certainly wouldn’t have met Diana at the time. Besides, his eyes were a golden-yellow colour, which would look different from a golden, brown colour.
I looked laid out all documents
I looked through the suspect list of the Acland group employees. A list I had put away after having identified Edward last week.
It’s possible if Edward was working with someone else they could be but they all checked out the first time when Keith and I checked the documents.
That evening I received a text from Keith. ’I’ll becoming late today,” his text read.
’Okay, be safe.’ I replied. I wonder if he had found anything so far.
Then I got to Kolton’s file and my eyes narrowed in suspicion. I looked at the picture on his profile. He had brown-gold eyes. I recalled I had asked Keith to just get a file on him since he could have a possible motive when we were brainstorming.
But so far all the evidence about everything related to Diana and Marco led to Edward and only Edward. However, what didn’t make sense was his relation to Marco and Diana in the first place.
Could Kolton be the missing piece? As I initially suspected he had a reason to go after Keith. I mean the whole Acland family situation was a mess. Keith and Kolton didn’t have a relationship at all. He could have been the only the one to go after Diana 10 years ago, he would have already known about the company.
I then returned to the map that I had been looking at that Louis had given me on the location o the van tracing it’s movements.
I read Kolton’s file again…Whilst Kolton didn’t live in Yorkshire his mother did have a house here which his father, Keith’s father purchased for her much earlier.
Louis didn’t have further details on where the van went Kolton’s house was much further in that direction where Louis said he last saw the van. Was that a coincidence? I wondered to myself.
*************************
The following morning barely having slept at all I continued looking into Kolton’s profile confirming my theory on whether he was the actual culprit.
’I might know who has him.’ I texted Louis. I couldn’t put Tony’s name in my text.
’Who?’ He asked.
I explained the discovery on Kolton.
’I get you out and we can investigate together.’ He texted back.
’Okay.’ I agreed. “I’ll keep you posted in a day.”
I had a general idea how the the routine of the estate worked from my walks around the estate. Where the guards around the property were and the gates around the house were located. In particular I now think I had idea on how to escape but had to consider a few caveats.
There were five days now until the ransom deadline, I had successfully leave within the next two days at the very least to look for Tony on my own. Tommorow.
I continue brainstorming for the next 30 minutes or so as I finalised how I would go about leaving.
Suddenly, my door opened. My eyes looked up, wondering who would enter just like that.
They then widened in horror, found Keith entering my room. I felt my heart begin pounding in my chest.
Why the fuck wouldn’t he knock? Why hadn’t I heard his footsteps? I asked myself as he walked towards me. I knew he felt we were getting closer but you can at least knock. What if I was undressing?
I looked down at my papers and noticed all my messages to Louis that I had been working out.
When Keith reached me, he would see them. I couldn’t cover the papers now with his eyes locked on me, he would notice it.
If he saw them all his effort I had been making to lower his guard would be for nothing. I only had one shot if Keith suspected anything it would be over and I wouldn’t get a another chance.
How can I distract him?
My brain scrambled as I thought of what to do. With my whole plan on the line, I dropped some papers on the floor that included the three incriminating ones. I was trying to make it seem like I was being clumsy as I stood up. I then stepped on the papers.
“Let me help you pick the papers up,” he offered as his eyes looked down at them.
I lifted my arms up and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. “Jasmine?” He asked in confusion obviously wondering what I was doing.
I brought his face down to mine and smashed my lips into his. It was the only thing I felt I could to completely distract him from looking at my papers. It was a spur of the moment. What’s the one thing I can I do that can help me but also disarm him?
Keith didn’t seem to react as I kissed him. His body remained still.
I then moved my foot which was stepping on the papers and swiftly slipped them under the couch.
It only took a second and I quickly broke off the kiss once I was done. I released his collar as I was met with his confused gaze on me.
“Sorry was that too sudden?” I asked him. “I just hadn’t seen you for a while I was worried.” I attempted to
As I studied his face I hoped it was enough to explain my actions but he seemed completely shocked and and taken aback. Oh god. If he was suspicious of me…
However, I was taken aback when Keith placed his hands on my face and cupped it before he placed his lips on mine again.
It was more intense than the first kiss. His other arm came around my waist and he pulled me closer to him till my body was against his.
