Chapter 66: Speaking out of turn
That in combination with that snarky attitude of hers when she spoke. She didn’t even sound sorry for hurting Diana.
However, that fake apology of hers to Diana is what really set me off.
Can you even call yourself a woman? I walked up to her. I looked down at
Admit it Jasmine you had loved me and that’s why you felt intimidated by Diana. If I can then…
Jasmine caught me off guard when she suddenly slapped me across the face. As my head tilted to the side. That stare in her eyes. Betrayal, sadness, and anger.
I noticed my bodyguard was about to take her down. I quickly held out my hand to stop them.
I realized that something was wrong as I looked into her eyes.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t the emotional, fun wife…” she then began. “…I hope you now have what you wanted.”
No, I thought to myself. This wasn’t how she was supposed to react. Not if she had feelings for me, was jealous of Diana, and had been bullying her for that reason. Jasmine might not be straightforward in her emotions but if there was one thing that was apparent now, it was her anger. That was and had been genuine for a while. She wasn’t trying to be feisty as I initially thought.
Jasmine had been a respectful and honorable wife before Diana arrived. I thought she was showing her true colors.
“I wish I never met you, Keith. I wish we never got married. Marrying you is the worst thing that ever happened to me…” she spat out at me.
I was caught off guard by this. The words hurt me deeper than I ever could have imagined because I felt Jasmine meant every word. Jasmine didn’t have feelings for me. I had it all completely wrong. And if she didn’t, that meant she had no motive to sabotage Diana.
As she continued speaking I couldn’t bring myself to say anything to her.
One thing I did know I should do was apologise to Jasmine.
“Jasmine
“Forget about it Keith,” she interrupted me. “It doesn’t matter.”
I wanted to explain myself and apologise but Jasmine wasn’t having it. I had taken my insults way too far. What had I been thinking? Just like that time at her home when her mood told me the conversation was over, I felt the same now.n
Soon my assistant Edward entered my office.
“What did you say to Ms Towers?” he asked.
“She’s crying, sir,” he told me.
My facial expression dropped as I processed what he was telling me. Where did she go?” I asked him.
“She went toward the bathroom.”
I immediately left my office and headed there. I heard her sobbing inside the bathroom. I wanted to go in and check in on her.
I called out to her but she told me no to enter. So from outside the door I apologized for the insensitive things I’d said earlier. She didn’t respond however. Which was understandable. I then left her alone telling the bodyguard waiting nearby to make sure
I went home feeling like shit that night. That feeling of uncertainty had returned I had earlier had returned. I wasn’t sure what to think of the Diana situation. It was clear that something was indeed wrong. Was I wrong about Jasmine? but then the alternative is that Diana framed her. I had to get to the bottom of this.
My whole logic behind how I was had treating Jasmine was due to the fact that I thought she had been bullying Diana and then on top of that blatantly lying about it when she’d been found out.
The next day was a Saturday but I had some work to do. I couldn’t focus at all. The possible guilt was eating at me.
“Sir, this came in for you yesterday morning. However, you never got the chance to open it,” he said.
“What of it?” I asked in annoyance. What importance was it to read a flimsy letter!? I asked myself.
“Well apparently it’s from Ms Towers,” Edward informed me.
Immediately my body froze for a moment upon hearing that. “Jasmine came to see me yesterday?” I asked him.
“No sir, the receptionists say that she came to the HQ and asked to have this delivered to you,” Edward explained. I then held out my hand to receive the envelope.
I opened the envelope wondering what the contents were. I took out the papers in side and began to read them. My expression dropped in horror. A divorce!? Jasmine was demanding a divorce?

DIANA’S POV
I was so proud of myself for the success of my plan. I really played into the distraught and helpless victim well. Though my eye hurt it was all worth it in the end. Keith was so concerned for me and worried. Whatever weird doubts he was having about Jasmine should be gone now.
I heard that in the past two days Jasmine kept trying to avoid meeting with Keith.
I couldn’t help but laugh. Since you wanted to see Keith so much these days see how you like it when it’s not under your terms. I was so glad those three bodyguards had come with me when I went to Jasmine’s house. It would have been complicated if any others had come.
It was now Saturday, and I was in one of the livings on mine and Keiths bedroom floor. I hadn’t seen Keith since Thursday since his workload was a lot. A figure then entered the room.
“Ma’am, I found the information you asked for,” the bodyguard told me as he handed me a business card.
It took from him and looked at it. The name on the card read; Andrew Gatwick, Executive Assistant/Chief of Staff of The Garden House.
As promised Jasmine I’m going to teach you a lesson. You think you’re free now since you work and provide for yourself? Let’s see what happens when you lose that precious job of yours.
Now I couldn’t ask the CEO himself, who apparently was a Carrington one of the most important families in the country to fire her. However, Mr Gatwick—you would do just fine. High enough in the hierarchy to fire anyone but low enough so when an overstepper like me comes in the way I can get away with it.
My plan was simple, call him and test the waters first to see if he’s interested. I was going to bribe him after all. Without giving away who I was as well.
