Chapter 372: Chapter 372 The Heavens Orchestrated a Fated Meeting, but I Was Busy Napping
Lin Feng’s tone was warm but firm, leaving no room for pressure or obligation. It was not a rejection, but a release.
Then, with his hands behind his back, Lin Feng turned and walked away without further hesitation. The rest of his group followed right after him, moving in sync as though it were natural for them to do so.
Behind them, Bai Meili stood still for a moment, watching his figure disappear from view. She had expected him to accept her promise without question, or at least acknowledge it with interest.
Instead, he had dismissed it so casually, as if such things meant very little to him.
“You don’t need to be so shocked, Miss Bai,” Yuan Bao said as he passed by.
He glanced at her briefly, then continued with an almost proud tone. “My teacher is simply the epitome of kindness and virtue. He does good things without expecting anything in return. That is precisely why so many women end up seeking his attention.”
He said it as if it were the most obvious truth in the world.
Then, just like Lin Feng, Yuan Bao placed his hands behind his back and followed after him, walking with an exaggerated sense of composure, trying his best to imitate the air of a true master.
Bai Meili remained standing there for a long while, her gaze still fixed in the direction they had left. The wind brushed past her, but she did not move.
For the first time, the image she had formed of Lin Feng in her mind began to change quietly, but undeniably.
All around, people whispered about the key ingredients Lin Feng had used… broccoli, one potato, two tomatoes, and three onions.
Such ordinary items, things that could be found in any marketplace stall, yet they had produced a miracle no one present could deny.
The crowd was still in disbelief, some even repeating the ingredients over and over as if trying to uncover a hidden secret within them.
“Broccoli… just broccoli?”
“And only one potato? Impossible…”
“There must have been something else…”
Their hushed voices spread like ripples, but no matter how much they speculated, none could arrive at an answer. To them, it felt as though Lin Feng had performed something beyond reason.
Yet Lin Feng himself remained completely indifferent to their amazement. Whether they understood or not had nothing to do with him.
The flying boat, guided steadily by Tang Aining, rose into the sky and began its journey back toward Clear Moon City.
The wind brushed gently against their robes as the vessel cut smoothly through the clouds, leaving the murmuring crowd far behind. Soon enough they landed in the academy.
“See you tomorrow, Mentor Lin Feng!” one of the students shouted, cupping his hands as if afraid his voice wouldn’t carry far enough.
“If you ever need someone to guard your back, don’t forget to summon me, Mentor Lin Feng. I’m the most reliable man in this city!” Yuan Bao added loudly, puffing out his chest with pride.
Lin Feng glanced at him briefly, a faint trace of amusement flickering in his eyes, but he said nothing.
“Take care, Mentor Lin Feng.”
“Rest well, Mentor Lin Feng!” One by one, his students voiced their farewells, their expressions filled with admiration and respect.
Lin Feng simply nodded in response, raising his hand in a small wave. His demeanor remained calm, almost detached, as if such praise was of no consequence.
“Stay, Wanwan. I’ll send you home myself,” Lin Feng said, his tone softening slightly as his gaze fell on the small girl.
“Really? Wanwan loves that, Mentor Lin Feng! Mama will also be happy to see you again!” Su Wanwan jumped up and down in excitement, her bright laughter instantly lifting the atmosphere.
Lin Feng gave a small nod, his expression easing just a fraction at her joy.
Before long, he stepped into Li Zhiyan’s carriage, which was already waiting nearby.
The finely crafted carriage bore the elegance of her status, its exterior polished and its interior spacious enough to accommodate several people comfortably.
Inside, Lin Feng was not alone. Ning Xi sat quietly by the window, her expression calm as always, her gaze occasionally drifting outside.
Ye Jian leaned back slightly, her sharp eyes observing everything in silence. Tang Aining, who had earlier piloted the flying boat, now appeared more relaxed, a faint smile resting on her lips.
Yun Wanqing sat gracefully, her presence gentle and composed, adding a quiet warmth to the space.
Su Wanwan, on the other hand, could barely sit still.
She shifted closer to Lin Feng, her small face filled with excitement as she looked up at him again and again, as if afraid he might disappear if she looked away.
“Mentor Lin Feng, will you visit Wanwan more often?” she asked eagerly.
“We’ll see,” Lin Feng replied calmly, though he did not reject her outright.
As they made their way toward the Su Clan, Lin Feng remained silent, his thoughts unreadable.
The events of the day had already passed, and whatever came next no longer concerned the crowd he had left behind.
Meanwhile, far from the carriage, Ling Lan remained busy at her restaurant, tending to her affairs as usual.
Huo Mian stood nearby like an unshakable pillar, his presence alone enough to deter any trouble. Though Lin Feng was not there, everything continued to run smoothly under their watch.
They soon arrived at the Su Clan estate, and a servant quickly rushed ahead to inform Su Muyao of their arrival. At first, she was expressionless, as if the news had yet to fully register.
But in the very next moment, her face blossomed into a radiant smile, one that only made her beauty even more captivating.
She gently tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, then paused to compose herself.
Straightening her posture, she adjusted her sleeves and took a brief moment to ensure every detail of her appearance was flawless. Only then did she step out to greet Lin Feng and his companions.
The instant her eyes landed on Lin Feng, her heartbeat quickened uncontrollably. It felt as though her heart might leap straight out of her chest.
