Chapter 526: Chapter 426: The Promise and Arrival at the Royal Star
When the spaceship carrying Qin Tian and Dongfang Mingyue arrived at Fulan Star’s spaceport, a team of Military Department personnel in uniform was already standing on the tarmac, neatly arranged and solemn in demeanor.
“General Qin, Miss Dongfang, welcome.”
The middle-aged man at the front stepped forward. He was wearing a Major General’s uniform, with a gold star on his epaulet shining conspicuously. The man extended his hand proactively, his voice deep and resonant.
Qin Tian raised his hand to shake back, responding politely, “Hello, General Lian.”
The visitor was none other than Lian Zhan, the top officer of Fulan Star’s Seventh Bureau and also Yan Qing’s old comrade-in-arms from the battlefield.
Lian Zhan looked at the exceedingly young Qin Tian in front of him and couldn’t help but exclaim, “General Qin, you truly are young and accomplished!”
He and Yan Qing had toiled hard for decades to reach the rank of Major General, yet the soldiers brought up by Yan Qing had reached the same level in their early twenties, a promotion speed that was indeed astonishing.
In his heart, he couldn’t help but feel a bit “sour”: on one hand, it was an admiration for Qin Tian’s background and ability—only with both could one become a general at such a young age.
On the other hand, he secretly lamented Yan Qing’s good fortune in discovering such an outstanding subordinate, while his own men, though capable, never had such an amazing talent.
Yan Qing, that lucky bastard~
After his musings, Lian Zhan collected his expression and his tone became serious, “General Qin, Miss Dongfang, there is something I must inform you. Ordinarily, upon your arrival at Fulan Star, I would extend hospitality and thoroughly entertain you. But Yan Qing specifically instructed that General Qin carries an important mission and needs to promptly head to the Royal Star. The Military Department has already approved for me to open a special route for you, not to delay.”
He sidestepped to open up the path, pointing to a large spaceship parked not far away, “So this time I sincerely apologize for not being able to properly entertain you. I’ve prepared a transfer spaceship for you, and the itinerary has been filed and approved; please board the ship now.”
Qin Tian and Dongfang Mingyue followed his gaze — it was a spaceship over two hundred meters long, several times larger than the peregrine falcon-class ship they had previously ridden.
The ship’s exterior was a dark gray color. Although showing traces of age, the energy shield interfaces and weapon compartment markings on its surface still indicated that it was a retired military warship.
Despite being of a retired model, the hull strength and defense system vastly outmatched ordinary commercial spaceships, with the only drawback being that the living space inside was slightly less comfortable compared to civilian ships.
Qin Tian and Dongfang Mingyue exchanged a glance, and from each other’s eyes, they saw mutual agreement.
For Dongfang Mingyue, naturally the sooner she reached the Royal Star and entered the Dan Tower headquarters, the sooner she would gain safety assurance; Qin Tian, due to job transfers, was eager to get to the Royal Star to complete his assignment process and start a new Chapter on Mingwang Planet.
Therefore, the “immediate transfer” proposal from Lian Zhan encountered no objections from either of them.
After boarding the spaceship, Qin Tian discreetly spread his spiritual sense, instantly sensing the presence of a dozen crew members — these were Military Department personnel assigned to escort them to the Royal Star, who would return on their own afterwards.
“General Qin, Miss Dongfang, this is where I will leave you.” Lian Zhan stood on the tarmac, shook hands with Qin Tian once more, then shifted the topic, asking, “By the way, how are you arranging for the spaceship you arrived on?”
“I’ll have someone come over to take control and fly it away, and it may involve troubling General Lian to look after it a bit.” Qin Tian responded with a smile.
“We’re all one family, don’t mention it!” Lian Zhan laughed heartily.
He knew well that Qin Tian was a trusted officer under his old comrade Yan Qing, and also a rising star in the Seventh Bureau, holding high rank at such a young age with unlimited future prospects.
Giving a small favor now might just lead to opportunities for mutual support in the future—perhaps it wouldn’t be long before Qin Tian’s name appeared on the high-level list of the Seventh Bureau.
“Then General Lian, we bid farewell.” Qin Tian raised his hand in salute.
“Safe travels!”
“Thank you!”
As the cabin door slowly closed, the retired warship ignited its engines, ascending steadily.
According to the flight plan, they would soon enter the Central Star Realm territory — a region dense with star gates, covered by a three-dimensional transport network that made it far more convenient than the other Eight Great Star Realms.
Once in the Central Star Realm, no further hazardous subspace travel would be required, merely passing through a few star gates in succession to reach the Royal Star within ten days.
…
“The journey ahead should be devoid of further incidents.” Qin Tian leaned back on the sofa in the rest lounge, finally able to relax his long-tense nerves.
Their visit to Fulan Star was by chance, and even if Dongfang Mingyue’s enemies got word, they wouldn’t have time to prepare an interception.
Dongfang Mingyue, seated opposite, idly rubbed the hem of her clothing with her fingertips, reminiscing about the recent days, as successive upheavals crashed in like waves — from the destruction of her cauldron before the alchemy contest, to the assassination attempt during the Round Table Meeting, and the near-death experience in a subspace storm after winning the championship and setting off for the Royal Star, each step terrifying and fraught.
For more than twenty years before, her life revolved entirely around the alchemy furnace and herbs, simple, calm, and fulfilling. But suddenly, out of nowhere, life veered onto a path filled with brambles and danger.
“Still thinking about before?” Qin Tian noticed the wistfulness in her eyes and asked softly.
Dongfang Mingyue shook her head, took a deep breath, and a relaxed smile reappeared on her face, “No, I’m just thinking that once inside Dan Tower headquarters, I’ll probably need to spend a long time in seclusion studying.”
