Chapter 557: Chapter 450: Truth, Recognition, and Fury (Part 3)
Even so, Qin Tian not only refused to compromise or retreat, but boldly unsheathed his sword, slaughtering hundreds from the Xue Dao Battle Group for the sake of three ordinary soldiers who sacrificed their lives. This extraordinary courage and determination to protect his people deeply resonated with him.
What satisfied Yang Zheng even more was the clear stance Qin Tian demonstrated in this matter.
In the information provided to Qin Tian, it was clearly marked—Marshal Lin and the Luoho Clan had been at odds for a long time. The appointment of Duan Guangtai as the administrator of Ice Extreme Pass was a pawn placed by the Luoho Clan, aimed at creating trouble and constant obstructions for those aligned with Marshal Lin.
Logically, as a newcomer, even if Qin Tian was aware of the entanglements, he would likely choose to temporarily avoid conflict—adopting a reconciliatory approach toward Duan Guangtai, possibly compromising step by step in the face of the Luoho Clan’s aggressive behavior to prevent an early escalation of tensions.
But Qin Tian refused to do so; on his very first day in office, he dealt with Duan Guangtai with the strongest measures. In the face of the Luoho Clan’s pressure and provocations, he went even further by annihilating the Xue Dao Battle Group, using hundreds of heads to build a head monument, and delivering a harsh blow to the Luoho Clan in the most resolute manner.
This uncompromising decisiveness certainly made Qin Tian a thorn in Inzaghi Luoho’s side, yet it also sent a clear signal: Qin Tian was not only the Guardian Envoy of Ice Extreme Pass but was also firmly aligned with Marshal Lin’s lineage.
Yang Zheng’s lips curled into a smile. In the Military Department and indeed in any faction, what is most despised is indecisiveness, being like a fence-sitter. Qin Tian’s actions perfectly embodied the word “loyalty,” a stance more substantial than any promise.
“Qin Tian, rest assured, Marshal Lin will never neglect his own people.”
Yang Zheng murmured to himself, reaching into the drawer to retrieve a document he had prepared long ago—it was an approval for additional strategic supplies for Ice Extreme Pass, detailing quantities of spiritual energy elixirs, energy crystals, weapon parts, and cold-weather gear, enough to support the pass’s development needs for the foreseeable future.
He picked up a pen and signed his name at the bottom of the document, his handwriting strong and forceful.
“Qin Tian, besides this reward, I have also prepared a special gift for you, hoping you will make good use of them in the future.”
Yang Zheng’s lips curved into a slight smile.
…
“Qin Tian! You’re courting death!”
Inzaghi Luoho looked at the photograph of the head monument formed by stacking hundreds of skulls, his spiritual energy uncontrollably surging, the dark red blood qi swirling around him like something tangible, causing the metal fixtures in the room to vibrate with a humming sound.
As a direct descendant of the Luoho Clan, the commanding Military Lord of Soul-Devour Ice Valley, ever since his birth he had been surrounded by luxury and adoration, revered wherever he went. When had he ever been challenged so blatantly?
All he did was deploy the Xue Dao Battle Group to blow up three of the opponent’s safe houses and kill three little soldiers, intending only to give Qin Tian a warning, forcing him to obediently let Duan Guangtai go.
But Qin Tian did the opposite; not only did he refuse to bow his head, he even sent people to wipe out hundreds from his Xue Dao Battle Group in one go and stack their heads into a head monument.
This was clearly a public slap in his face, a declaration of war to Inzaghi Luoho!
What infuriated him more was that Qin Tian had reported the battle report to the Military Department, emphasizing in every line that the safe houses were military posts and that the soldiers were Royal Soldiers of the Empire. His order to attack was provocatively challenging the authority of the Empire.
Though, due to the influence of the Luoho Clan, it would at most result in an internal reprimand, not reaching his core, this humiliation was like a thorn, deeply embedded in his heart.
“Well played, Qin Tian…” Inzaghi Luoho gritted his teeth, his knuckles cracking loudly, “You think just because you have Lin Xuanqing’s protection, you can be lawless as a mere Major General?”
He walked slowly to the large floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze piercing through the blizzards of Soul-Devour Ice Valley, fixating fiercely in the direction of Ice Extreme Pass.
He had never regarded Qin Tian, seeing him merely as a pawn pushed forward by Lin Xuanqing, an “outsider” without background or power.
But now, this “pawn” dared to bite back so fiercely.
“Just wait, Qin Tian.”
Inzaghi Luoho’s voice was icy, “I will show you, even with Lin Xuanqing as your backer, in my eyes, you’re nothing more than an ant that can be squashed at any moment. Ice Extreme Pass… and your petty life, I will crush them bit by bit—”
“Completely destroy!!!”
