Chapter 619: Cao Youqian: Senior, I Have Come Again
Deep within the Demon Lake, Cao Youqian heard a voice echo from within his sea of divine sense. His legs went weak, and he nearly knelt to the ground, but he hurriedly steadied his Dao heart and stopped looking directly at the massive arm before him. He respectfully said, “This junior pays respects to Senior.”
“And who are you? Where is that little long worm?” the giant arm asked doubtfully as it stared at the unfamiliar face before it.
“Senior means that foolish dragon?” Cao Youqian replied. After a brief tremor, he regained his composure, and his tone became much steadier. He said unhurriedly, “I already roasted and ate it. Senior is not here to trouble me over that foolish dragon, is he?”
“Young man, you are quite arrogant. Do you really think that just because I am bound by these nine chains, I cannot deal with you?” the giant arm said as countless rays of demonic light radiated from its eyes and descended toward Cao Youqian.
Sensing the demonic light, Cao Youqian immediately activated his Dharma Aspect. The demonic light fell upon it without shattering it, and upon seeing this, Cao Youqian promptly withdrew the Dharma Aspect and allowed the demonic light to strike his body directly.
Very soon, a burning sensation spread across his body. This was a feeling he had never experienced since cultivating the Chaos Body-Refining Art, and for a moment, it felt as though he had returned to the days when he was roasted by earthfire.
Cao Youqian did not panic. Instead, he circulated the technique within his body and allowed the demonic light to temper his flesh.
Seeing the young fellow gradually turn into a lump of blackened charcoal, the giant arm revealed a look of satisfaction in its eyes.
After a short while, the giant arm felt that the lesson was sufficient and withdrew its demonic light. It asked, “Boy, do you now understand how powerful I am? I am one arm of a Supreme Demon God. Even with ninety percent of my power sealed, crushing a junior like you is still more than enough.”
Cao Youqian slowly opened his eyes and shouted with a grin, “Exhilarating. It has been a long time since I felt this good. Senior, can you do it a few more times? I think I can still endure it.”
The giant arm was completely dumbfounded. It thought to itself that this boy must have some serious illness, as any normal person would have fled long ago to dispel the demonic energy after being struck like this, yet this one claimed it was not enough.
“As you wish,” the giant arm replied.
Another wave of demonic light enveloped Cao Youqian, and a sizzling, scorched smell rose from his body. Gritting his teeth, Cao Youqian thought to himself that he was just a little short, and if he endured a bit longer, his body tempering would advance another step, as there was no other place with such a marvelous method of cultivation.
After another quarter of an hour, the giant arm looked at the young man whose entire body had been eroded by demonic energy and said with a laugh, “Junior, from now on you are this seat’s demon puppet. How does it feel?”
“Demon puppet?” Cao Youqian looked at the giant arm with a puzzled expression and said, “Senior, do you want to listen to what you are saying?”
The giant arm did not get angry. “Boy, stop being stubborn. My demonic energy has already confused your extraordinary meridians. Once it invades your internal organs, you will completely become a Heavenly Demon Seed. At that time, only I will be able to impart to you supreme cultivation methods, and if you want to become stronger, you will have to obediently listen to me.”
“I am afraid Senior will be disappointed,” Cao Youqian said. “Your demonic energy is not that strong. For me, however, it is a rare material for body tempering. We shall meet again tomorrow.”
After saying this, Cao Youqian turned and ran without giving the other party any chance to strike again, so as not to waste the sword qi his master had left behind.
The giant arm did not stop him. In its view, within seven days this boy would become a Heavenly Demon Seed, and once cultivated into a saint-level demonic being, it would surely be able to break free from this prison.
With a loud splash, Cao Youqian suddenly leapt out of the Demon Lake. The Thunder Qilin, who had been quietly waiting by the shore, saw the figure before it, wrapped in demonic energy and black as charcoal, and instinctively shouted, “Where did this demonic creature come from? Watch as this king suppresses you.”
“Stop messing around. I do not feel like fighting you today,” Cao Youqian said.
As soon as his voice sounded, the Thunder Qilin was so shocked that its jaw nearly dropped. Staring at Cao Youqian in disbelief, it asked in terror, “Brother Qian, how did you get tainted with calamity? Among our Qilin clan, anyone tainted with calamity is suppressed by the ancestor.”
“It is merely demonic energy, nothing to worry about,” Cao Youqian said. “You go outside and stand guard for me. By tomorrow morning, this demonic energy will be gone.”
As he spoke, Cao Youqian sat down cross-legged on the spot and began to use the surging demonic energy within his body to continue tempering his physique.
“Brother Qian, are you really all right?” the Thunder Qilin asked, still unconvinced.
In its view, calamity was not something that could be so easily dispelled. Otherwise, the Qilin clan would not fear it so much. According to the ancestor, this calamity came from beyond the heavens and was not something this world could deal with.
“If you speak a little less, I will be fine,” Cao Youqian replied impatiently.
Hearing this, the Thunder Qilin could only obediently turn and leave, silently mourning for Brother Qian in its heart.
In the blink of an eye, a day passed. Early the next morning, Cao Youqian suddenly opened his eyes, and an excited smile appeared on his face, as his physique had grown a bit stronger again.
He stretched his limbs, originally intending to continue seeking out that giant hand to temper his body. However, remembering that the Thunder Qilin was still guarding outside for him, he walked outward instead.
“Damn it,” the Thunder Qilin exclaimed upon seeing Cao Youqian emerge completely unharmed, even stealing his catchphrase. “Brother Qian, you are really fine. How did you do it?”
Cao Youqian replied irritably, “You are a Thunder Qilin, yet you do not even know that heavenly lightning restrains demonic energy. As long as the body is strong enough, it can naturally resolve this demonic energy.”
At this point, the Thunder Qilin was completely convinced and said, “Brother Qian, from childhood until now I have never acknowledged anyone. You are the first to earn my admiration.”
“Enough talk,” Cao Youqian said. “I am going to continue playing with that Demon Lord. If any humans come to visit, use this testing treasure orb to examine their foundations. If their blood can make the orb emit light of more than seven chi, they may enter under this seat’s sect.”
As he spoke, Cao Youqian took out a treasure orb from his storage ring and handed it to the Thunder Qilin. He had not forgotten the purpose for which he and his master had come to this world, as while cultivating, he still needed to strengthen the Dao Inquiry Sect.
“What about the other myriad races?” the Thunder Qilin asked with a puzzled expression.
Cao Youqian thought for a moment. The Dao Inquiry Academy also had great sages like Uncle Master Golden Eagle, so it was not impossible for the Dao Inquiry Sect to have them as well, but they could not be accepted indiscriminately.
He then said, “The outstanding talents of the other myriad races must pass this seat’s trial before they may enter under my sect.”
“Understood. I will definitely complete the task you entrusted to me, Brother Qian,” the Thunder Qilin replied without hesitation.
After bidding farewell to the Thunder Qilin, Cao Youqian walked toward the Demon Lake. In no time, he arrived before the giant hand and greeted it with a broad smile.
“Senior, I have come again.”
