Chapter 620: Lightning Qilin — Gan-ge, Someone Has Passed Your Test
“You brat, you still dare—”
The giant hand had been roused from its slumber by Cao Youqian, and anger surged within it. Just as it was about to loudly berate this ignorant junior, the eye on its arm opened as well, and upon seeing the young man standing before it as if nothing were wrong, its voice abruptly cut off.
“This is impossible. How did the demonic aura on your body disappear?”
Cao Youqian shrugged and said with a smile, “Isn’t that because your strength wasn’t enough, senior? Otherwise, I would have needed a few more days to recover.”
“You!!!”
The giant hand was completely enraged by those words. As a dignified generation of Demon God, it was now utterly unable to do anything to a little fellow in the Nirvana Realm. If word of this spread, it would be laughed at endlessly.
“Brat, you asked for this!”
As the words fell, countless streams of demonic light burst forth from its eyes and rained down toward Cao Youqian.
Cao Youqian stood motionless, allowing the demonic light to erode his body. He then slowly closed his eyes, a look of enjoyment appearing on his face.
This action caused zero harm, but delivered extreme humiliation.
The giant hand trembled violently, wishing it could crush the brat before it into pieces with a single grip.
Unfortunately, it was bound by chains. The fact that it could even emit demonic light was only because it was powerful enough.
After two hours, Cao Youqian finished a day of cultivation. He opened his eyes, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly, and bowed to the giant hand. “Thank you, senior.”
With that, Cao Youqian turned and left, not giving the giant hand any time to react.
Moments later, a hysterical roar came from the lake. “Brat, just you wait. One day, this seat will grind your bones to dust and scatter your ashes!”
That roar echoed across a hundred li. The Lightning Qilin guarding outside Five Elements Mountain heard it and instinctively shrank back, muttering, “What on earth did Gan-ge do to make that terrifying existence at the bottom of the lake so furious?”
For several days in a row, Cao Youqian went to the giant hand to clock in for cultivation. At first, the giant hand shouted and tried to kill him every single time.
But a few days later, it realized that this human brat was anything but ordinary. It decided to watch how strong he could become, convinced that as long as the brat kept growing stronger, he would eventually fall into its trap.
Early this morning, a group of demon race members and humans arrived hurriedly outside Five Elements Mountain.
Although they were usually opposed to one another, at this moment, the same fear and unease was visible on all their faces.
The hundred races gathered outside Five Elements Mountain and, upon seeing that massive stone, their hearts jolted. After exchanging glances, they pushed forward a thin human youth.
Before the youth could even speak, he was warned by countless fierce gazes.
He could only steel himself and take a few steps forward, then kneel and kowtow. “This lowly one has come to pay respects to the new emperor.”
“Someone has come?”
A voice tinged with doubt came from within Five Elements Mountain. Soon after, the cultivators of the hundred races saw a Lightning Qilin slowly walk out from the mountain.
An uncontrollable thought surfaced in everyone’s mind. The newly arrived Demon Emperor could actually have a Qilin guarding the gate for him. Just how powerful was he?
The human youth looked at the approaching Lightning Qilin, his body trembling uncontrollably.
The Lightning Qilin looked down at the youth kneeling not far away and asked in confusion, “Are you here to pay respects to Gan-ge?”
The youth did not know who Gan-ge was. However, the great shaman and clan chief had told him to pay respects to the new master of Five Elements Mountain. As long as he met the mountain lord and declared the tribe’s willingness to worship him as their deity, he could atone for his crimes and wash away his sins.
Thus, the youth hurriedly said, “Reporting to Your Majesty, I have indeed come to pay respects to the mountain lord.”
“Fine.”
The Lightning Qilin spat out a pearl and said, “Drip a drop of blood onto this pearl. If it emits light of seven chi, you may see Gan-ge.”
“All right.”
Although the youth was utterly confused, for the sake of completing his mission, he followed the senior’s instructions. He took out the dagger he carried, pierced his finger, and dripped a drop of blood onto the pearl.
In the next instant, the pearl emitted nine chi of multicolored light, leaving the Lightning Qilin stunned.
The hundred races watching from afar were also frozen in place. They all wondered what kind of treasure that pearl was, to actually trigger such a brilliant phenomenon.
After a brief moment of stunned silence, the Lightning Qilin put on an aloof expression and said with imposing authority, “Very well. You may come with this king to pay respects to Gan-ge.”
Before the human youth could react, it clamped onto him and vanished from the sight of the hundred races.
Only after a long while did the hundred races come back to their senses and shout in unison, “Your Majesty, we have not dripped our blood yet!”
By the Demonic Lake, Cao Youqian had already completely exhausted the demonic aura within his body and refined his physique once more. Just as he was about to begin a new day of cultivation, he sensed the Lightning Qilin’s aura rapidly approaching and immediately halted his steps.
In the blink of an eye, the Lightning Qilin landed before Cao Youqian, with a frightened human youth still clamped in its mouth.
The Lightning Qilin set the youth down and said, “Gan-ge, this kid passed your test. I brought him over to hand him to you.”
Hearing this, Cao Youqian immediately rolled his eyes at the Lightning Qilin. “Big Thunder, you’re getting more and more unreliable. It’s just a kid who passed the test. Was there really any need to make such a big scene? Look how badly you scared him.”
The Lightning Qilin said, “You didn’t say anything before.”
“Was he the only one who came?” Cao Youqian asked.
The Lightning Qilin replied, “There were quite a few demon race members and humans. I got excited when I saw him produce nine chi of light during the test and left the others outside.”
Cao Youqian gave it a thumbs-up. “As expected of you. No one can compare to you when it comes to messing things up. All right, go test those fellows first, then bring them all over tomorrow morning.”
“Got it.”
After saying that, the Lightning Qilin rushed off in a flurry, leaving behind a bewildered human youth standing there, staring at Cao Youqian.
“Little fellow, what is your name?”
A gentle and kindly smile appeared on Cao Youqian’s face.
The youth answered cautiously, “Reporting to my lord, my name is Xia Kang.”
“You have both a given name and a surname. It seems you were born into a large tribe.”
Cao Youqian continued, “What business do you have seeking this seat?”
Xia Kang said, “Reporting to my lord, our tribe is willing to submit to you. We ask that you accept our tribe.”
Cao Youqian said calmly, “Very well, but this seat has one condition.”
Xia Kang hurriedly replied, “Please speak, my lord.”
“You must enter this seat’s sect.”
Cao Youqian looked at the youth before him. To his surprise, upon hearing these words, the youth showed not the slightest hint of joy, but instead lowered his head and fell into silence.
