Idle Tycoon System - Chapter 413: Exchanging Items

Chapter 413: Exchanging Items
The other nobles were watching these exchanges with growing excitement. Noah’s willingness to trade generously was becoming increasingly evident—he genuinely valued interesting and useful items over strict price equivalence, which opened up possibilities they hadn’t initially considered.
Viscount Thornheart stepped forward eagerly, gesturing to his own collection of offerings. “Lord Carter, if I might present what my family has brought…”
Noah smiled, his attention already shifting to the next potential treasure. “Please, show me what you have.”
Viscount Thornheart stepped forward eagerly, his servants bringing forth a velvet-lined case. He opened it to reveal a beautifully crafted ring with intricate spatial runes etched into the metal band.
“I’d like to present this first,” the Viscount said, lifting the ring carefully. “A Spatial Ring with significantly larger capacity than the standard models available in the kingdom.”
[Spatial Ring (Large)]
[Tier: Tier 3]
[Details: Storage capacity of 10m x 10m x 10m (1,000 cubic meters). Far superior to common spatial rings, which typically offer only 2m x 2m x 2m capacity. Enchantments are stable and permanent.]
[Estimated Value: 250 Golden Coins]
Noah examined the ring with interest. He was still using the storage ring that the princess had given him first. It was the first magical equipment that he had used. Whilst it did its job for the most part, having a larger storage ring wouldn’t hurt at all.
“This is useful,” Noah acknowledged. “But you’re right that it’s not quite enough on its own for a tier 2 exchange.”
Viscount Thornheart nodded quickly, clearly having anticipated this. “Of course, Lord Carter. I’ve brought several additional items to supplement the offer.”
His servants brought forward more cases, revealing their contents one by one:
A collection of rare alchemical reagents—moonpetal flowers that only bloomed once per decade, and purified essence of storm clouds.
Estimated value: 400 golden coins.
An ancient technique manual detailing advanced footwork for swordsmen, written by a legendary master from two centuries ago. The knowledge was genuine and could benefit any blade practitioner.
Estimated value: 300 golden coins.
A set of three master-rank beast cores from thunder wolves, still crackling with residual lightning energy. Perfect for enchanting or alchemy.
Estimated value: 450 golden coins.
Noah evaluated each item carefully, his brain processing their potential uses. The alchemical reagents could be valuable for future crafting. The technique manual might provide insights into his swordsmanship or Alissa’s. The beast cores had obvious utility for enchantment work or could be sold.
Total value: 250 + 400 + 300 + 450 = 1,400 golden coins.
Still one hundred coins short of the fifteen-hundred baseline, but well within Noah’s acceptable margin given the quality and variety of what was being offered.
“The total comes to fourteen hundred golden coins,” Noah said after his calculations. “Close enough to the baseline that I’m comfortable with the exchange. You can choose—would you prefer the Instant Coffee or the Herbal Tea?”
He gestured to the two remaining options on his shelf, each clearly labelled with its effects.
Viscount Thornheart’s eyes widened slightly at being given the choice. He moved closer to read the detailed description cards Noah had prepared for each item:
[Herbal Tea: Purifies the body of accumulated toxins and impurities. Grants spiritual sight for one hour, allowing perception of magical auras and energy flows normally invisible. Permanently increases Vitality by 30 points upon first consumption.]
[Instant Coffee: Dramatically accelerates all recovery rates by 100% for thirty minutes—wounds heal twice as fast, mana regenerates twice as quickly, stamina returns twice as rapidly. Grants enhanced focus and concentration, stronger immunity to mental attacks and illusions, and doubled comprehension speed for one hour. Permanently increases Intelligence by 30 points upon first consumption.]
The Viscount studied both options carefully, his expression showing the weight of the decision. Both offered incredible permanent benefits, but in very different areas.
After nearly a minute of contemplation, he spoke. “The Instant Coffee, if you please. My family has always emphasised magical scholarship over pure physical prowess. The permanent Intelligence increase would benefit not just me but potentially my children through improved teaching and guidance.”
Noah nodded with approval at the thoughtful reasoning. “A wise choice for your circumstances.” He retrieved one of the remaining Instant Coffee containers and handed it to the Viscount. “Use it well.”
“Thank you, Lord Carter. Your generosity will be remembered.” Viscount Thornheart accepted the precious container with reverence, clearly understanding the transformative value of what he’d just acquired.
Noah collected the spatial ring, alchemical reagents, technique manual, and beast cores, adding them to his growing collection of traded goods. His inventory of tier 2 items was dwindling, but the treasures he was accumulating in exchange were genuinely valuable.
Remaining Tier 2 Inventory:
Instant Coffee: 2 remaining
Herbal Tea: 2 remaining
Luxury Smoothie: 8 remaining
He looked at the other nobles who hadn’t yet presented their offerings. “Who’s next?”
One by one, the rest of the nobles stepped forward to present their offerings. Unlike Duke Ashford, Marquess Ravenswood, and Viscount Thornheart—who had brought genuinely rare and useful treasures—the remaining nobles’ collections were more conventional.
Countess Blackwood offered a selection of texts and records. While interesting from a scholarly perspective, they contained no magical techniques or actionable knowledge that Noah particularly needed.
Baron Helmsworth presented quality gemstones and jewellery pieces—valuable from a pure monetary standpoint but lacking the unique utility that truly excited Noah.
Lady Crowley brought rare fabrics and exotic spices from distant lands. Expensive luxury goods, certainly, but not the kind of magical materials or artefacts that captured Noah’s interest.
Viscount Sterling offered a collection of masterwork weapons and armour—beautifully crafted but mundane pieces without enchantments or special properties.
Noah accepted all of these offerings politely, recognising that these nobles had brought the best their families could muster, even if those items didn’t compare to the earlier exceptional treasures. He didn’t want to disappoint customers who had made genuine efforts to participate in the barter system.
At the end of this trading session, both the Herbal Tea and Instant Coffee were completely depleted from his inventory. The four units—two of each—had been exchanged for various goods that ranged from moderately useful to merely valuable for resale.
