Infinite Awakening: My Exp Doubles Everyday - Chapter 377: Dowry

Chapter 377: Dowry
The moment Xiang Yu activated the growth booster on the two, they felt their energy burst forth.
They bowed even deeper as they accepted their lord’s blessing. They felt that their lord was truly a monster, their earlier hundred-times growth speed had increased to over two hundred times.
Only their lord could accomplish such a thing with such ease.
Looking at their cultivation levels, they had just entered the Golden Core realm yesterday and were already almost at the middle stage.
“We thank the lord,” they said in unison.
Xiang Yu simply waved them off with a dismissive gesture. “Return to your posts.”
“As expected of our lord, such an incredible feat isn’t even worth mentioning,” they thought to themselves. As they turned to leave, Xiang Yu’s voice stopped them.
“Wait.”
They spun around immediately.
“Qing Long,” he called out.
“Yes, lord,” Qing Long responded, straightening his posture.
“I don’t mind if you lose, but don’t embarrass me,” Xiang Yu said casually.
Qing Long froze. What did his lord mean by that? Did he already know the outcome? The dragon gritted his teeth in frustration. To that person? He could sense that he was just at the high Blood level and didn’t even have impressive cultivation, merely peak Golden Core. Why would his lord think he’d lose?
He studied Xiang Yu’s expression carefully. Could it be that his lord was warning him about something deeper? He understood now, he had grown too arrogant. His lord was teaching him that bloodline wasn’t everything, and he shouldn’t neglect his cultivation progress.
“I will take the lord’s teachings to heart,” Qing Long declared, slamming his forehead to the ground with such force that it split the earth beneath him.
“Dammit, I just prepped that land,” Xiang Yu cursed silently to himself.
He waved his hand in exasperation. All he had wanted was to tell Qing Long to do his best and not worry about winning or losing. Why did he have to destroy his carefully prepped ground?
“I’ll be damned if I ever try giving you advice again,” he thought.
After Qing Long departed, Zhu Que remained behind, looking nervously at Xiang Yu.
She wondered what he wanted from her. Was the lady unable to satisfy him on their wedding night and now he wanted her to serve him as well? She shook her head quickly, ashamed for even considering such a thing after the lady had placed so much trust in her.
“Why are you in this form?” Xiang Yu asked. He had already told her to maintain her phoenix form when near him. Hadn’t she listened to his warning?
“Um… the lady told me it was okay,” Zhu Que replied hesitantly.
…
“She did?” Xiang Yu was surprised by this. Li Yao actually did such a thing?
Zhu Que nodded in confirmation.
“I see,” Xiang Yu said thoughtfully. Judging from the way Zhu Que mentioned her, they seemed to be quite close. He wondered when that had happened. “Do girls normally get along this fast?” he pondered to himself.
Maybe that was actually a good thing.
Li Yao was so strong that all the people her age couldn’t treat her as a peer anymore, and she was even a sect master, making it quite difficult to make friends. Although he was in the same situation, he didn’t really care about being alone. All he cared about was cultivating… and his wife… and his students… and the sect. He sighed deeply. Maybe he did care about a lot of things after all.
Well, it was great for Li Yao to have friends too.
Who knows, they might be able to help her see the world in a new light. From what he had observed, Li Yao seemed somewhat disconnected from the world. Although it was normal for geniuses to feel as though they didn’t belong with others, for her, it was different. He had the feeling that she might not even care about destroying the whole world. He thought to himself it would be nice for her to gain more people she cared about as it could help her connect to the rest of the world better.
“Aaah, why do I suddenly feel like a parent? Dammit, I’m just thirty years old,” Xiang Yu said in exasperation. Well, combining this life as well, he was now forty-nine, just a year away from being fifty.
He scratched his head in frustration.
Zhu Que watched him curiously, wondering what was wrong with her lord. He was acting strangely today.
Seeing her confused expression, Xiang Yu cleared his throat. “Take this,” he said as he handed her two glowing bloodline essences.
“This is the phoenix bloodline essence. Give it to my martial aunt,” Xiang Yu explained. “Both of you will be similar, so I hope you get along.”
She nodded at his words.
“The other one is… well…” Xiang Yu blushed slightly. “Think of it like a dowry. Give it to my sister-in-law.”
Seeing his expression, she smiled warmly. “I understand. You can leave it to me.”
Then Xiang Yu dismissed her and she flew away.
As he watched her disappear into the distance, Xiang Yu thought to himself that his idea was quite smart. Giving his sister-in-law the dragon bloodline essence should be enough, he wouldn’t have to provide her with all sorts of other resources.
After some time, he shook his head. He was already so wealthy, so why was he acting so stingy? He sighed. He’d really fallen low.
He decided to harvest some herbs later and deliver them to her personally. Maybe he should also craft her an artifact. A defensive or escape treasure would be nice for someone like her, he thought.
…
At Celestial Summit Peak, inside the sect master’s office, an angry Huang Fengqi was busy going through thousands of memorandums. As she worked through them, her anger grew more and more intense.
“Xiang Yu, Li Yao… you brats!” she shouted furiously. “How dare you overwork your pregnant martial aunt?” she screamed.
She stood up abruptly, slamming her hands on the table. “I don’t care if you got married today, how dare you do this to me! Looks like I’ll have to teach you how to treat your elders properly!”
Just as she was working herself into a rage, someone knocked on the door. She sighed and sat back down. “Come in,” she said.
Zhu Que entered the room. “It’s you,” Huang Fengqi said, scanning her with interest.
“The lord said to bring this to you. It’s a gift for always taking care of him and the lady,” Zhu Que said as she handed over the phoenix bloodline essence.
“Lord? You mean that brat Xiang Yu?” she scoffed as she reached for it. “Hmph, looks like this kid still remembers how to take care of his martial aunt,” she thought to herself.
She realized that since Xiang Yu considered Elder Guo his father, wasn’t he basically like her own son? “Kekeke, maybe I should go ask for a dowry from the sect master,” she mused.
