Chapter 158: Iron Blood Sect
“Oh?”
When Fu Ting spoke, Li Yun and Zhu Ximen both turned toward her at once. Their earlier casual expressions faded, replaced by sharp curiosity as they listened closely to her next words.
As Xu Ming had mentioned before, missions of this nature were usually issued by the Martial Ascension Gate as ordinary assignments. This time, however, it had been designated as a collective mission, which was highly unusual. The change in classification alone suggested that something was not right. Naturally, they wanted to understand the reason behind it.
Fu Ting looked at Li Yun and asked, “Brother Li, you should already know about the Iron Blood Sect, correct?”
“I do.”
Li Yun nodded, but as he answered, a thought flashed through his mind. His gaze sharpened slightly as he asked, “Could this matter be connected to the Iron Blood Sect?”
“Yes.”
Fu Ting’s expression grew solemn. “The higher authorities of the Martial Ascension Gate suspect that this incident may be related to the Iron Blood Sect, which is precisely why they are treating it with such importance. In the past, the Iron Blood Sect brought immense devastation to the Southern Martial Domain. Even the slightest sign of their involvement cannot be ignored. If there is any possibility that they are resurfacing, the sect must act decisively to prevent the Southern Martial Domain from descending into another sea of blood.”
Her voice deepened as she continued, “It is said that under the Iron Blood Sect Master, there were eighteen Qi Sea Realm powerhouses known collectively as the Eighteen Iron Blood Demon Generals. Among them was one infamous figure called the Blood Zombie Demon General.”
“Blood Zombie Demon General?”
Li Yun’s brows furrowed as realization dawned upon him. “Blood Zombie… Are you saying the Blood Zombies in the Black Wind Desert might be connected to that Blood Zombie Demon General?”
“Yes.”
Fu Ting nodded firmly before continuing in a steady voice. “According to legend, the Blood Zombie Demon General cultivated a demonic technique known as the Blood Demon Art. This cultivation method demanded an enormous amount of fresh blood to sustain its progress. In order to meet that demand, he used certain sinister abilities derived from the Blood Demon Art to create a large number of Blood Zombies. He then unleashed them upon cities and villages, allowing them to slaughter indiscriminately and gather fresh blood for his cultivation.”
She paused briefly before speaking again. “Based on the intelligence we have received, the situation in the Black Wind Desert mirrors the pattern from those dark years. Back then, the Blood Zombie Demon General sent his creations across the land to harvest blood for the Blood Demon Art, and the signs were exactly the same as what we are seeing now. For this reason, the Sect suspects that the matter may be connected to him, one of the Eighteen Iron Blood Demon Generals of the Iron Blood Sect. That is why the higher authorities are treating this mission with such urgency. They have even mobilized a large portion of the Inner Sect Disciples and sent them into the Black Wind Desert to investigate.”
Zhu Ximen’s brows knit together as he listened.
“I also know a little about the Iron Blood Sect,” he said slowly. “The Blood Zombie Demon General was one of the eighteen and possessed the strength of the Qi Sea Realm. If he truly is hiding within the Black Wind Desert, then by sending us Inner Sect Disciples there, is the Sect not pushing us straight toward death?”
Though Zhu Ximen was confident in his own abilities, he was not reckless enough to overestimate himself. A Qi Sea Realm powerhouse stood on an entirely different level. Against such a figure, he understood clearly that he would stand no chance. A single casual strike from someone at that realm would likely be enough to end his life.
Fu Ting gave a faint smile and said calmly, “The Sect would never send us to our deaths without reason. Although the Blood Zombie Demon General somehow survived the great campaign that wiped out the Iron Blood Sect, he was gravely injured in that battle. Even though decades have passed since then, it is impossible for him to have fully recovered. If he had regained his former strength, would someone of his stature hide in a remote place like the Black Wind Desert? He would have already emerged and caused chaos across the Southern Martial Domain. You do not need to worry.”
She continued in a measured tone, “Besides, the Sect is only suspicious that the events in the Black Wind Desert may be connected to the Blood Zombie Demon General. There is no confirmation that he is truly there. It is also possible that someone obtained the Blood Demon Art he once cultivated and is now using it to advance their own demonic cultivation, which would explain the turmoil in the Black Wind Desert.”
“I hope that is the case,” Zhu Ximen replied quietly.
After that, the conversation about the Black Wind Desert came to an end, and the group fell into silence once more as they continued their journey.
A short while later, Fu Ting guided her Moon Gazing Rhinoceros closer to Li Yun and lowered her voice. “Brother Li.”
Li Yun turned his head toward her. “Is something the matter?”
Fu Ting hesitated briefly before speaking. “I can tell that Xiao Feng harbors some hostility toward you. On the surface he appears cheerful and open, but in truth he is calculating and holds grudges deeply. You should be cautious around him.”
Li Yun merely smiled faintly. “There is no need to concern yourself over him. However, since you are aware of his character, why did you still agree to team up with him for this mission?”
Fu Ting sighed softly. “I would rather not cooperate with someone like Xiao Feng either, but he has an influential elder brother. Even if I do not care about Xiao Feng himself, I must still show some respect to his brother. Otherwise, Shi Luo and I would have a difficult time within the Martial Ascension Gate.”
Li Yun’s expression shifted slightly. “His elder brother? Who is he?”
Fu Ting looked at him and asked, “Brother Li, you have heard of the Four Peaks Top Ten Ranking, have you not?”
