Chapter 183: Arriving back at the sect!
Yan Luo understood very well what that meant. Even among the many geniuses who had reached the Half Step Qi Sea Realm, very few possessed the strength necessary to injure her. Yet Li Yun, whose cultivation was only at the third level of the Xiantian Realm, had managed to inflict internal damage on her with a single strike.
She continued circulating her cultivation art and forcefully suppressed the injury. Her eyes remained fixed ahead as she waited for Li Yun to launch another attack. Given the ferocity of that strike, she believed he would follow it with another powerful move in an attempt to finish the battle.
However time passed slowly, and the expected attack never came.
Yan Luo’s brows gradually furrowed.
Then realization dawned upon her. She quickly scanned the surrounding area, only to find that the battlefield had become completely empty.
“He is gone,” she said softly.
At that moment she understood the truth. That final attack had never been meant to defeat her. Li Yun had unleashed it only to create a moment of chaos. While the explosion and violent energy obscured everything, he had already taken the opportunity to escape from the area.
“Who exactly are you?”
Yan Luo muttered the words quietly, her expression extremely solemn as she stared at the empty desert where Li Yun had disappeared. The brief battle they had just fought had left a deep impression on her mind.
From that single exchange she had already realized something alarming. A terrifying genius had appeared in the Southern Martial Domain.
To possess combat strength comparable to a Half Step Qi Sea Realm cultivator while only being at the third level of the Xiantian Realm was something almost unbelievable. As far as she knew, even the most famous geniuses in the Southern Martial Domain could only challenge opponents one level above their own cultivation.
She herself was one of those rare talents who could cross a single level and still fight evenly against stronger opponents.
However Li Yun had crossed far more than that. The difference between them was so great that it made her truly understand how monstrous his talent was.
Her gaze slowly darkened.
Such a genius could not possibly be an unknown figure forever.
At the same time, far away from the battlefield, Li Yun’s figure moved rapidly through the vast wilderness of the desert. His body blurred like a streak of wind as he continued rushing forward.
Several minutes had already passed since he escaped from Yan Luo.
“If only I had a cultivation method for the Five Elemental Cultivation Art,” Li Yun sighed softly while continuing to move.
The technique he had used earlier, the Five Elemental Sword Art, was a Middle Grade Earth Rank sword technique. Its destructive power was extremely terrifying when used properly. Unfortunately he had not cultivated the Five Elements themselves, nor had he mastered the sword art to its full extent.
The attack he used against Yan Luo had only been a move he had experimented with for some time.
The Five Elemental Sword Art required the perfect fusion of five elemental forces. Those elements were metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.
However Li Yun did not possess those elements in his cultivation. Instead he had substituted them with wind, lightning, and flame.
Because he did not possess a true Five Elemental cultivation method, he could not unleash the genuine power of the Five Elemental Sword Art. For that reason he had been practicing a modified version of the technique by using his three elements of wind, lightning, and flame as auxiliary forces to enhance the strength of his primary technique, the Overlord Sword Art.
The attack he used against Yan Luo had been exactly that experimental fusion.
If he had truly mastered the authentic Five Elemental Sword Art, Li Yun believed that Yan Luo would not have survived that strike at all. Even the reinforcements rushing toward the battlefield would likely have been unable to withstand such an attack.
Shaking his head, Li Yun pushed those thoughts aside and continued moving forward. His figure traveled swiftly across the barren land for several hours. Eventually the endless yellow dunes began to fade, and patches of green slowly appeared in the distance. Trees, grass, and the faint signs of wildlife gradually replaced the lifeless desert landscape.
“Finally,” Li Yun muttered softly as he looked ahead. “I am out of the Black Wind Desert.”
After leaving the desert behind, Li Yun headed toward a nearby city. Once he arrived there, he purchased a mount to make the rest of his journey faster. The beast was known as a Dark Flame Horse, a powerful steed famous for its endurance and speed.
With the Dark Flame Horse beneath him, Li Yun immediately set off toward the Martial Ascension Gate.
After traveling for an entire day, the towering entrance of the sect finally appeared in the distance. The massive gate was lively as usual. Numerous disciples were entering and leaving the sect grounds, some returning from missions while others prepared to depart on new assignments.
Before entering, Li Yun sold the Dark Flame Horse to a disciple who was about to leave the sect. The trade was completed quickly, and Li Yun received one hundred low grade spirit stones in return.
After finishing the transaction, he walked calmly toward the entrance.
However, the moment he stepped past the gate, several disciples suddenly surrounded him. There were five of them, and each possessed a cultivation between the sixth and seventh level of the Xiantian Realm.
“Come with us,” one of them said with a sneer.
Li Yun glanced at them briefly and immediately understood the situation. These disciples had clearly been ordered by Xiao Fanyun to capture him and bring him back if he returned to the sect.
“I do not have time for you,” Li Yun replied calmly.
As soon as he finished speaking, a powerful aura erupted from his body. His sword intent burst forth and merged with the chilling pressure of his killing intent. The overwhelming force spread out in all directions like an invisible blade.
The disciples who had surrounded him instantly felt a terrifying pressure descend upon them.
Some of the weaker disciples collapsed directly onto the ground, completely unable to endure the suffocating sword intent. The stronger ones managed to remain conscious, but they were forced to kneel as they struggled to breathe, their faces pale as they stared at Li Yun as though they were facing a monster.
Without even glancing at them again, Li Yun calmly walked past the fallen disciples and headed straight toward the Alchemy Pavilion.
