Isekai Nonbiri Nouka - Chapter 1023: Villagers in Spring

Angel Tier.
Normally, she helps with my work as the village chief’s assistant, but her job in early spring is civil engineering using golems.
Things like digging up fields or removing overgrown tree roots.
However, in Big Tree Village we have my AFT, so recently she has often been dispatched to Village Two and Three.
But this year we have the Multipurpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine (Arti-Horse).
It ended up taking Tier’s job.
So Tier has been sent to Village Five, where she works using golems.
Apparently, she’s doing her work very seriously, and her reputation there isn’t bad.
Oh, saying it like that might sound rude, as if it’s surprising.
Even though Tier complains about things now and then, she always does her work properly.
The same goes for Gran Maria and the others.
When did I start thinking the Angels were strange…
Was it Kierbit?
No, Kierbit is also serious and reasonable as long as Tier isn’t involved.
The Suaru sisters don’t fool around much either.
Then that leaves…
Malbit, Ruincia, Raz Maria, Suarurou, and Reginleif?
Or maybe it’s the ordinary Angels they brought with them?
…
Let’s not think too deeply about it.

Vampire Loo.
Even in early spring, her work doesn’t change.
Managing the medicinal herb fields and making medicine.
Medicine-making is partly Loo’s hobby, but it also brings practical benefits.
There are personal requests coming from Village Five and Shashaato City through Youko and Mio’s channels.
They are the kind of requests Youko and Mio can’t easily refuse.
In other words, they come from people in power or from people whose cooperation we may need.
As a result, Loo’s medicine brings profit to Village Five and Shashaato City.
At first, I thought the medicine would be for sick people, but…
Since most of the requests were things like athlete’s foot medicine, stamina enhancement drugs, and hair growth treatments, I decided not to say anything.
There are also requests not from individuals but from Village Five and Shashaato City for medicines such as treatments for infectious diseases, venereal disease medicine, skin disease medicine, antiseptics for wounds, and medicine for bruises.
For those, only a small amount of the medicine itself is provided.
Most of the time, Loo instead provides the method for making it.
That’s because these medicines are needed in large quantities.
Mass production of those medicines is left to people in Village Five and Shashaato City who are skilled in handling medicinal herbs.
This way, the necessary amounts can be secured.
However, there are very few medicines or ingredients that can be stored for long periods.
Most medicines do not keep well.
So, in order to make the required amount whenever needed, the medicinal herb fields in Village Five are carefully protected and managed.

Vampire Flora.
Since she prepares fermented foods during the winter, she shifts into a relaxed mode in early spring.
Still, she continues her research one way or another, so she’s not exactly playing around.
It’s more like a relaxed research mode.
Even when she goes out, it’s usually to places related to fermented foods in Village Five.
I sometimes think she should rest a little more, but…
She participates in village events, and she herself says she’s enjoying what she’s doing, so I shouldn’t worry.
If there’s anything to say, it would only be when the smell causes trouble for the people around her.
It seems she sometimes receives letters from Alfred, but she hasn’t told me what they say.
I’m a little sad.

The High Elves.
Normally, they hunt in the forest.
In the village, they mainly take care of carpentry work.
In early spring, they become busy checking whether buildings were damaged by the winter cold or snow.
They also dismantle or remove the winter protections placed on buildings.
At the same time, they are preparing for the spring parade.
Personally, I think the spring parade could be held only once every few years, but entertainment here is limited.
So letting the villagers relax and have fun during the parade probably isn’t a bad thing.
Hmm?
There’s the summer pool, the autumn martial arts tournament, and winter skiing and sledding.
Year-round there are also bowling, chess, shogi, and recently basketball.
So there ‘is’ entertainment?
That’s true, but…
The villagers basically work all the time.
The only ones visibly taking breaks are the civil servant girls after finishing the autumn paperwork, and the Angels.
Everyone else keeps looking for something to do, even in winter.
That said, they’re not just working blindly.
They’re also improving work efficiency properly.
For example, the High Elves…
During the spring parade, they often build large, wheeled towers or platforms.
But now they prepare the parts during the winter and simply assemble them once spring arrives, which saves time.
So when I think, “Oh, they’re building the towers” before I know it several of them are already finished, which always surprises me.

Beastkin
The beastgirls, led by Senna, mainly take care of livestock such as horses and cows. Because of that, they work hard throughout the seasons with things like births, raising young, milking, and breeding.
In early spring… there’s probably a lot of caring for newborn animals.
The adult livestock have also gotten used to being handled by the beastgirls, so they don’t mind even when the girls approach their young.
In fact, I hear they sometimes even bring the babies over to show them.
The beastboys… Gol and the others are doing well in the royal capital.
Apparently, they sometimes come to Shashaato City for work and leave letters for the village with Mio.
The beastkin blacksmiths mainly work during the winter.
From spring to summer, their main tasks are more relaxed things like gathering materials and processing them.
Of course, if there’s urgent smithing work, they prioritize that.
The blacksmiths who came from Howling Village returned there using the universal ship, even though they were giving off a strong “we don’t want to go back” aura.
They’ll probably come again before winter this year.

Lizardmen.
Their main role is heavy labor.
They help the High Elves, Mountain Elves, and Beastkins with various tasks.
Originally, they worked under the Angels, so they also continue helping with things related to the Angels.
Another job unique to the Lizardmen is lobster farming.
About half of the lobsters eaten in the village are farmed by them.
In early spring, their work is mainly collecting and organizing materials produced from dismantling the winter protections placed on buildings.
It would be wasteful to use those materials only once, so they store them properly for the next winter.

Dwarves.
As always, they’re making alcohol.
Something like the changing of seasons won’t alter their behavior.
The only thing that changes is the snacks they eat with their drinks.

The civil servant girls.
The calculations for crop production were finished during the winter, so after reporting them to me, they’ve moved on to preparing for the spring parade.
The large-scale work is handled by the High Elves, while the Mountain Elves take care of the detailed tasks.
So, the civil servant girls mainly focus on things like planning the performances and deciding the order of the parade.
They also make sure to exchange information with the civil servants in Village Five.
If we stay in the village, we tend to rely entirely on Village Five for information related to the Demon King’s Kingdom.
Oh, and some of the civil servant girls are currently in Village Two and Three.
They’re accompanying Yuri, who is working while riding the Multipurpose Humanoid Mobile Heavy Machine.
It’s not for protection.
It’s just that we can’t send Yuri to Village Two and Three alone.
After all, she’s the Demon King’s daughter.
If something happened, it would be a problem.
For protection, we’ve asked the Lizardmen to accompany her.
Village Two and Three aren’t places that really require guards, but still…
You can’t let your guard down while traveling.
A few of the kuros are accompanying them as well.

Mountain Elves.
In spring…..the Mountain Elves first set up newly designed traps around the village as a countermeasure against demon beasts and monsters.
Then they inform the kuros and spiderlings about them.
It would be dangerous if they got caught in them by mistake.
Next comes preparation for the spring parade.
While most of them are doing the usual preparations, some of them try to add new gimmicks on the side.
They’ve probably mistaken the spring parade for some kind of presentation event.
Watching the civil servant girls struggle to stop that misunderstanding makes me feel that spring has arrived.
-0-
Dragons.
……
Hakuren, Rasuti, and Guronde help teach the village children as instructors.
As for the others… it seems winter is still continuing for them.
Until they get bored of it, they remain in their relaxed winter mode.
Ah, Doraim is cultivating radishes.
And Raimeiren sometimes takes Hiichirou and Guraru out to enjoy spring flights, rather than simple walks.

Oni maids.
Since their main duties are cooking, laundry, and cleaning inside the mansion, their work doesn’t change much just because spring has arrived.
However, the sight of them happily washing the laundry that piled up during the winter, or hanging clothes out to dry together with the spiderlings, really makes it feel like spring.
Oh, right.
Seeing dishes made with preserved food that was stored for the winter appear on the dining table also feels very spring-like.
After all, those preserved foods need to be eaten before they go bad.
