Chapter 1472: What if Aether actually clapped the Prophetess’s ass?
“Was she too… on your seduction list?”
Aether slowly shook his head, his expression calm, almost gentle. “No, she wasn’t,” he replied softly.
“As I said before… she was special.”
A weak smile tugged at his lips as he began explaining their situation. Without him, Maleona would die. Their lives were bound by an eternal connection, one that caused them to feel each other’s pain, emotions, and presence far too deeply to ignore.
It wasn’t desire born of choice, but something carved into existence itself.
Hearing that, Delphine fell silent. Her expression stiffened as she stared at him, unsure whether she should be angry, disturbed, or simply exhausted by the sheer absurdity of it all.
After a long moment, she released a deep sigh. “This is getting weird,” she muttered quietly. “But… I guess it’s fate.”
Truthfully, she understood more than she wanted to admit. She knew how powerful those connections could be. Being bound to him herself, she could easily imagine how deeply it must have affected Maleona, whether she wanted it or not.
Her brows furrowed slightly as another thought surfaced. “Does… Aria know this?”
Aether nodded without hesitation.
Delphine went quiet again, her lips pressing into a thin line. She shook her head slowly, clearly done trying to untangle the madness.
She glanced at him sharply, “What the fuck are you going to do if a child is born? What’s their relationship supposed to be? A flowchart won’t even help at this point.”
Aether straightened slightly, his tone shifting into something firm and resolute. “Baby,” he said seriously, “you shouldn’t think like a mortal.”
He clenched his fist, eyes burning with conviction. “Our family is going to transcend everything. Even common sense won’t apply anymore. And trust me… I’ll make sure it never does.”
Delphine stared at him blankly for several seconds before dragging a hand down her face and sighing. “Fuck… this is getting worse,” she muttered. “Just when I thought you were at least somewhat normal.”
Suddenly, her expression shifted. Her brows knit together as realisation struck, and her eyes widened slightly.
“Wait…” she said slowly. “W-What about… Xara?”
Ever since she had woken up, Delphine had noticed it. The way Xara looked at Aether wasn’t normal. It wasn’t the gaze of a stepmother toward a stepson.
It was something else entirely, something far deeper and disturbingly intimate. Xara had been showing emotions she had never even shown Velc.
Aether blinked, clearly surprised. “Hasn’t she told you yet?”
“T-Told me what?” Delphine asked, her mouth slowly opening as dread crept in.
Aether let out a quiet sigh. ’Looks like she didn’t tell her the full truth…’ he thought to himself before nodding once.
Delphine understood immediately. Her eyes blinked once.
Then again.
“Ewww.”
She blinked harder, horror fully settling in.
“EEWWW!!”
Her face twisted in pure disgust as if reality itself had personally offended her.
Her lips trembled as she whispered, voice cracking with disbelief, “Both… Selene and Xara?”
“…Well, I love them,” Aether said, wearing the biggest, most unapologetic smile Delphine had ever seen on his face.
Delphine froze, terror slowly creeping across her expression. The way he said it so casually, so openly, sent a chill through her spine. Her lips trembled as she struggled to form words,
“D-Do they… do they even know that?” she asked quietly, almost afraid of the answer.
Aether nodded without hesitation. “Of course they know,” he replied calmly. “Hell, Selene even tried to help me at one point. I rejected it, though. I wanted to handle things myself. I didn’t want to hurt her.”
Delphine’s mind completely shut down at that point.
Whatever fragile grip she still had on reality finally snapped…. What in the avocado was happening here?
She abruptly pushed herself upright, clutching the quilt tightly against her chest as if it were the only thing keeping her grounded.
“Oh my fucking goodness…” she muttered, pressing her fingers hard against her forehead as if trying to physically hold her sanity in place.
Not even the most twisted history books she had ever read managed to make her lose her mind like this.
What the hell was happening to her life right now?
Aether didn’t stop her. As much as he hated to admit it, this was the truth, and she deserved to know every last piece of it, no matter how horrifying it sounded.
“Fffuccckkk!” Delphine let out a long, broken groan. Her mind spiralled as images piled on top of one another.
Sharing the same man with her niece was already nightmare fuel. Adding her ex-sister-in-law on top of that?
What kind of cursed reality had she walked into?
She dragged her fingers down her face and into her hair, tugging harshly at loose strands as exhaustion fully settled in. Her face looked utterly drained, eyes heavy with disbelief and defeat.
Yep… She had officially lost it!
She couldn’t even muster anger anymore. All that remained was a hollow sense of shock and a growing question echoing in her mind.
Just what the fuck had she gotten herself into?
Still, it wasn’t as if she could meddle in any of it. Xara was bound by contract to her father, and Selene had willingly helped Aether get closer to Xara in the first place.
Not in a million years had Delphine ever imagined such a possibility could exist-
’Wait a second…’ Her thoughts suddenly sharpened. ’That damn brat… didn’t she try to trick me before, too?’
The memory of Selene’s words and subtle actions resurfaced.
Delphine glanced at Aether, who was still lying back on the bed, watching her with openly lustful eyes. Her lips twitched in disbelief and irritation.
Selene hadn’t just gone after her aunt… She had gone after her own mother, too.
“This family is so… fucked up,” Delphine groaned, her voice tired and raw. After a brief pause, she added hesitantly,
“But… are they really okay with it? I mean… It’s her fucking mother, for god’s sake.”
She shook her head slowly, a mix of disappointment and creeping fear settling in.
“I mean… I’d be freaking out if it were my mother.”
The room suddenly fell into a dead silence.
Delphine wasn’t sure why, but the atmosphere shifted instantly. A chill crawled up her spine as she slowly turned back, glancing at Aether. He had averted his gaze, his expression stiff, lips pressed tightly together.
“A-Aether?” she called cautiously.
“…I… I didn’t do it on purpose, but—”
“OH MY GOD!! MY BLOOD MOTHER TOO??!!!” Delphine nearly screamed, horror exploding from her chest as the realisation fully hit her.
Aether immediately sat up and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as if to ground her before she completely loses herself.
Delphine’s face twisted even further in disgust as she stiffened in his embrace. “Fuck, Aether…” she hissed, her voice shaking. ”
That’s fucking horrible!”
Aether hesitated slightly, a flicker of worry crossing his face as he wondered if he had made yet another irreversible mistake.
Then Delphine spoke, her voice low and oddly calm. “Fuck… I guess you really don’t have a choice, do you?”
“Huh?” Aether blinked, clearly caught off guard by her reaction.
Delphine leaned back against his bare chest, the tension in her shoulders easing just a little as she turned her head to glance at him.
“I always wondered why every woman around you was beautiful, gorgeous, and suspiciously young,” she said slowly. “I thought you were just picking them yourself… Curating them to suit your taste.”
She let out a dry laugh, “But now… fuck. Now it looks like you really don’t have a choice at all.”
Aether blinked again, confusion written all over his face. “Aren’t you… angry?”
Delphine sighed, letting her head fall against his shoulder as exhaustion washed over her.
Angry?
No.
Surprised?
Very much so.
“Why would I be angry?” she said quietly. “I never even knew she was my mother until now. Honestly… she’s basically a stranger to me.”
Aether frowned slightly, “But you said you’d be freaking out if it was your mother,” he said, genuinely confused. “You said it yourself.”
Delphine sighed again, longer this time, shaking her head. “But she wasn’t my mother,” she replied firmly. “Sure, I carry her blood, but blood alone doesn’t make someone a mother.”
Her expression hardened as memories surfaced. “I grew up with my bastard of a father, who only ever looked at me for my talent. Because of my ability to see the future, emotions never really stuck to anyone. People were just… outcomes.”
She paused, then grimaced. “Still, hearing that she was also on your list…” Delphine glanced at Aether with a mixture of disgust and reluctant pity.
“She’s an old woman, for god’s sake, Aether. If you saw what I saw…”
Her face twisted as the memory surfaced vividly. “You would never get close to her… Ever!!”
The image of the Prophetess exposing her skin flashed through Delphine’s mind, and… she physically shuddered!!
And then an even worse thought appeared.
What if Aether actually clapped the Prophetess’s ass?
Death!!
Instant fucking death!!!
The Prophetess would be dead on the spot. One swing, and she would be fucking gone.
He would clap her life straight out of existence!
Was he insane? Going after an old woman who could die at any moment?
Had his logic completely snapped? Or… was his dick the one making decisions now?
While Delphine spiralled internally over the very real possibility of accidental manslaughter by intercourse, Aether stared at her in disbelief.
Just moments ago, he had been panicking, bracing for rage or revulsion. Instead, she was… disturbingly calm.
“Del…” he asked carefully, “is this really okay?”
Delphine lifted her head slightly and looked at him with a deadpan expression. “If I said no,” she asked flatly, “would you stop going after her?”
“…Well…” Aether hesitated, the pause small but painfully honest.
