Life of Being a Crown Prince in France - Chapter 1556 - 1462: A Bright Future

The guard officers and the nobles standing nearby hurriedly lowered their heads and turned away, yet all of them tried desperately to steal one last glance with their peripheral vision.
The door was closed again.
Tina, overwhelmed with shame and anger, pushed the man in front of her, “They’ve left, please get up…”
This man had just suggested, in order to protect the Queen’s reputation, that she pretend to have an affair with him here.
Under the Queen’s orders, she had no choice but to comply.
Baron Trudeun gently covered her mouth, maintaining the same rhythm, whispering, “Shh—be careful, someone might peek through the keyhole, we absolutely cannot blow our cover.”
In the hall, people began excitedly gossiping, “Haha, Tina sure has some skills, two men want to duel over her.”
“So you mean, the Queen is also here?”
“With both Tina and Atanis present, Her Majesty must be here.”
“Do you think the Queen might also be in one of the rooms…”
The Prussian Royal Guard blocking Charles and the others immediately made way, while the leading officer nervously apologized to Earl Bender.
Charles just tightened his stag mask, lowered his head, and jogged out through the crowd.
In the courtyard of Schloppen Castle, a group of people were about to climb into a carriage, while Earl Bender turned back to look at the villa where the ball was held, sighing, “Thankfully nothing major happened tonight…”
He frowned, squinting as he looked hard at the second floor, wondering, “Am I seeing things, or is there someone there?”
Charles was still conflicted, clearly hearing Louise’s voice in room 218, but why did it become her maid? Hearing this, he instinctively looked up.
It was already nine o’clock at night, with only dim candlelight spilling from the nearby windows, and it took him a while to notice a figure standing on a ledge, tightly grasping the window frame with both hands.
If it weren’t for Bender’s reminder, he wouldn’t have noticed there was someone there.
“What’s he doing?”
Charles’ aide-de-camp focused on the detail: “That should be room 218.”
Earl Bender immediately shouted, “Someone, there’s a thief! Catch the thief!”
Queen Louise, hanging outside the window, could never have imagined that in the pitch-black night, someone would be observing the villa’s exterior so closely. The shout nearly startled her into falling.
She struggled to climb back into the room, but the strength in a lady’s arms was unable to achieve this.
She could only raise her hand to knock on the window, lowering her voice to call, “Jacques, let me in, quick!”
Jacques was Baron Trudeun’s name.
The Prussian Royal Guard and the Schloppen estate’s servants came running over, yelling, “Daring to steal here, you must have a death wish!”
“Damn it, don’t let him get away!”
Charles stared at the figure on the second floor for a while, suddenly feeling that the silhouette seemed somewhat familiar.
Earl Bender magically pulled a small telescope from his pocket, frowning as he aimed it at the second floor, “I must see…no, impossible, how could it be her…”
Charles grabbed the telescope, seeing a panicked face in the lens.
He was suddenly stunned; it was clearly Queen Louise!
She was currently dressed in an ill-fitting, oversized men’s coat, with disheveled hair and trembling all over.
It really was her…
Any last fantasy he held shattered completely. Clearly, she was the person in the room earlier.
Earl Bender seemed to realize something too, hurriedly dragging the Prince onto the carriage, shouting to the coachman, “Quick, leave here!”
After a while, he nervously looked at Charles, “Your Highness, that lady wouldn’t…”
Seeing that Charles did not deny it, he took a deep breath, speaking quietly, “Your Highness, this matter is too significant, I won’t report it to the Regent King.”
Charles nodded blankly, “Thank you…”
In front of the Schloppen estate’s villa, someone raised torches, others aimed guns at the window of room 218.
Guard officers and several people climbed over the flowerbed, pointing at the person above and shouting, “Bastard, come down here right now!”
“Don’t force me to shoot.”
At this moment, a woman’s voice came from the night above them, “Marred, act like nothing happened. Don’t let anyone get close here.”
Captain Marred suddenly felt his scalp tingle, his back covered in cold sweat, instinctively standing at attention, “Yes… Okay.”
He listened to the Queen’s voice for more than ten hours every day, there was no mistake about it.
The butler of Count Schloppen, who was often with his lord in the palace, was now trembling all over in shock, desperately shrinking into the shadows.
As Charles’ carriage drove out of the estate, more than 20 servants had already drawn a secure perimeter in front of the east wall of the villa—the Captain Marred dared not involve the guardsmen, fearing it would raise suspicion.
However, by the time Queen Louise was finally rescued back into the room by her lover, the topic of conversation in the masquerade ballroom had already shifted, “Really? How could that be possible?!”
“Absolutely true, my brother-in-law told me himself. You know, he’s the accountant for the Earl’s house.”
“My God, no wonder Atanis was so nervous earlier…”
“Yes, even the guards rushed in. They were definitely worried the duel would hurt Her Maj…ahem, that person.”
“This will become a royal scandal…”
“What are you rambling about? No one saw her, she has nothing to do with this!”
“Thank you for the reminder, I misspoke…”
Before long, Count Schloppen rushed into the hall, hastily announcing the ball’s premature end.
Two days later.
William III slammed his hand against the piano fiercely, emitting a devilish wail-like noise, as if the piano was the embodiment of the rumored adulterer.
In the noble circles, gossip spread faster than cannonballs, and now everyone was talking about the Queen having two lovers, one young, one older.
What irritated him most was that the one who proposed the duel was not himself!
However, he could do nothing about it.
Firstly, he lacked any concrete evidence. The Queen’s Guard Captain and the Schloppen estate’s butler both suddenly disappeared; others only heard about it.
Secondly, Queen Louise claimed she was doing something that would determine Prussia’s fate, and this required some sacrifices.
Ever since William III’s leg was injured, the Queen’s influence in Prussian politics had grown increasingly strong. Especially with reformist officials, she was nearly central to them.
He was unsure if punishing her harshly would indeed ruin Prussia’s future.
He grabbed a nearby brandy, took a swig, and continued pounding the piano keys violently.
Meanwhile, in the brick-red villa at mid-Land Street, Queen Louise was coldly staring at Baron Trudeun, gritting her teeth, “You bastard, I almost became the laughingstock of all Berlin!”
Trudeun appeared relaxed, “It’s all over now, my dear. Trust me, the future will be bright.”
